I love the look of the Sportback! I wonder if it will come in EVO guise to go rallying? Anybody know if there is a privateer or sponsored team that is scheduled to get one? I like to see it go up against the STI hatchback!
this car uses the awd system from the last gen evo and has 30hp more than a normal wrx, not the STI, that's the EVO's beast to handle, this is the direct competition in the 25-30k price range but I'd still take a new G8 GT over both I think still hard to compete with a nice V8 with 300+hp
It may not be fast but I'm sure immediately when it's released there will be relatively cheap chips to get it up to par with the Evo or at least close and you still have a much less expensive car to boot

i know my bad.. mitsubishi killed it they made this car too heavy, over 3300,lbs what kills this car is the take-of, even with its AWD and AW-slipdif. hope they reduce that weight and upgrade the braking system because its not the best... and last but not leas the tires are to slim, its almost like trying to run a mile on hills.. still looks like a killer and ill probably endup buying it
just kidding it will be a very good street racing car..but the wattage needs to be amped up tp around 800 to get peoples attention from a good distance away
I too think the WRX has to get the nod here. I'm a Subaru fan, and will admit that EVO's have held a slight edge over STi's, but this Ralliart just doesn't cut the cake in my opinion.
But if you look at how diverse the models are Subaru doesn't have a chance..as in model wise the base Wrx or the Lancer Ralliart..they will lean to the Ralliart because it is so close to the Evo without passing over the 26k dollar line

I agree the WRX is slightly better in performance but it is just so damn ugly. The EVO is just a better built car when you take in to account that beautifully opulent design. My money is with the Evo.
Nice car. I'm a Subaru enthusiast but have always respected the Evo, Lancer GSR and now this Ralliart. Can't wait to see them around in Sydney and around the tracks :) Although I think they will be dubbed Lancer GSR here. We already had the Ralliart versions last year which was the Lancer Ralliart and Colt Ralliart.
nope, evo x is for sale already, they they had to bring it out before the ralliart or else their sales would suck. but even now many people are saving up their money and rather wait for this ralliart(not coming out untill the end of this year around october)
the only thing with this car tho is the transmission, its all ecu controlled so if try to add and exhaust system or an intake, u'll run into engine code problems and a possible engine failer. with this new transmission u have to do crack the ecu and make new tuning programs
i called my local mitsubishi dealership today and they said the 09 ralliart its not gonna be in til early next year or late this year.. hope its not true . cuz i wanna have this car by the summer time

I'm buying this car 100% when it comes out this summer. It has everything the WRX is missing, a dual clutch tranny, recaro seats, and an exterior design worthy of its legacy. Subaru completely missed the mark with the Impreza's design.
How exciting. Kudos to Mitsubishi for finally making a car inline with the Subaru WRX. Practicality from a sedan, with performance from a turbo engine, and suspension & drivetrain to match all that go. I'll get one after my deployment. :)

Yeah why don't he get an Evo X, they're only $10k more. Why don't he just get a better job so he can get a loan for $35k-$36k instead of only $25k (I'm rolling my eyes in case you didn't sense my sarcasm).
MAYBE it's all he can afford to buy. Not everybody can afford a $36k car. Hell, the majority of the people can't even afford a $25k car much less anything higher. That's what makes a "whole lot" more sense.
u really can't say their ugly, both manufactures want to appeal their cars to both markets, tuners and ordinary people. i personally like the old cars(evo4 and 22b) u have to give those guys a thumbs up for doing this...and on not i like the styling of the ralliart alot better then the hatch wrx.

i personally loved the subarus of 06 but i dislike the soft non-sporty looks of the new sedan. and krazieness their not offering you a evo with a weaker engine and true it can be moded "easily"for some but not cheap. the evo has better brakes,wider body, and a completely different awd system. this is sporting the evo 9's. this is actually the one of the smartest things mitsu has done. 1/8 imprezas i have seen driving around are wrx's just like 1/8-9 of mustangs you see are v6's.

true, but this doesn't have their new innovative super all wheel control system that's gonna be on the evo x, the suspension and all wheel control featured on the ralliart is going to be borrowed from the evo ix... but I do agree I'll def put up around 25Gs for this thing rather than that extra 10 grand you could spend on a new Evo... The front end on this thing looks awesome

Infact the 4wd is not from old evo. The 4wd a bit worse in this ralliart, than in evo. This doesnt have Active Yaw Control.
