  • holy shit, does anybody know what effect pedal he's using for that solo at 2:15? kinda sounds like a kaoss pad.

  • Camera man has a thing for the girl hahaha

  • Esa gorrilla a lo generacion nini le mata

  • i love how quiet the crowd is...

  • i love how quiet the crowd is

  • why does everyone call it "impossible souls"

    it is singular, "impossible soul"

not a big deal, but still

  • stupid hat, great song.

  • I'm glad he decided that ten minutes wasn't long enough. "It's a long life!"

  • any idea what he's using to get those absurd sounds from his guitar?

  • god I love the organized chaotic guitar solo.

  • @MrGaimer it's one of the raddest things I have ever heard.

  • ohh listen to the brass

  • please don't call sufjan indie

  • @bradenls0 Sufjan is indie and there's nothing wrong with that

  • thanks for posting it. I'm watching it several times a day now

  • Amazing!!! what genre is that?

and i agree, the artists should not be so good looking!

  • Saw him this past weekend in Minneapolis. Insane what he can do live with this kind of music. The visuals were equally amazing. I thought this more electric sound wouldn't work live, but it did. He opened with Seven Swans, then played 6-8 of his new songs, including the 25 minute version of Impossible Soul! Then he finished with Chicago, and played three older songs for his encore. Good stuff.

  • Does anyone know the name of the woman who sings "Don't be distracted, don't be distracted..." ???

  • @starcraft108 Nedelle Torrisi from Cryptacize

  • @starcraft108 Shara Worden

  • hey, does anyone know what kind of guitar he's playing?

  • his drummer is sick!

  • this guy personally serves to inspire. just picked up two tix to chicago theatre show. ya'll know how we do.

  • Sufjan's Stereolab influence is getting REALLY noticeable. this is a good thing. nay, an awesome thing.

  • this is gonna be on the new album...

and it is 25 minutes long. *.*

  • they have a some now!

  • I am so jealous that I left Ithaca to go to Hope College (Sufjan's alma mater) and then he heads to I-town! Awesome video, and I am extremely jealous!!!

  • the quality is impressive!!

  • dreamy...so so dreamy

  • Her voice combines well with his. A very moving song.

  • I love how his new stuff is becoming more electric, he is continuing to reinvent himself as a musician... and he sounds great! Go Sufjan!

  • wow. crazy song. i like.

  • @hungboys

Well she can sing in tune and its a difficult vocal

  • Oh wow...I can only pray this is ever recorded and released.

  • Epic. Simply epic.

And for Sufjan, that's saying something.

  • I think that is the chick from Cryptacize from Sufjan's label. She doesn't have anything going for her :(

  • silly question...but is this a new song, or a cover, or what?

  • New.

  • love songs, is sufjan in love?

  • his voice is kinda like avey tares

  • this guy is so so talented. amazing. every time i hear stuff, i always like it!

  • This is a great song but the woman's part is significantly worse than Sufjan's.

  • yea the beginning is fucking great and then she messes up that atmosphere

  • Well he's a tough act to follow

  • holy guacamole, that is good stuff.

  • Definetely a heart breaking voice on that song ♥♥♥

Thx so much for posting this

  • I just saw him on thursday. It was wonderful. He is amazing, probably my favorite singer/songwriter. And he is a gorgeous man and super nice! This song kills me.

  • It's taken a while for these new songs to hook me but they are taking hold at last. The greatest songwriter of his generation should have made a bird album a couple of years ago; let's hope these new gems do not suffer the same fate. Please make a new record for the greater good, and we'll all promise to buy it.

  • Yeah, I too hope these songs find a home. They deserve a better audience than live concerts and bad Youtube playbacks. The fact that he still plays Majesty Snowbird at concerts makes me hopeful that he will put it on an album.

He is amazing and has so much material- PLEASE LET US SHARE IT!!!

  • Majesty Snowbird is one of a string of unreleased bird-themed masterpieces. I also adore Barn Owl Night Killer and The Lord God Bird. The interview with Shannon Stephens seems to suggest that he has doubts about the worth of official releases in this era of white noise. I wonder if he is releasing the BQE to test the water, to see if there is interest enough before commencing labour on the next proper album.

  • @elara55

New Album Age of Adz coming out in October (it's a 25 minute recording, it's sick!)

  • @elara55 And to simply imagine what this song turned into...

  • I couldn't get tix to the show so I really appreciate all the video posts. I'm loving them!

  • indie artists shouldn't be so pretty looking.

  • Thanks for posting these. Good quality.

  • so beautiful

  • pitchpirate

  • Thanks so much for posting. Great audio, great video, great songs.

  • this he play majesty snowbird at this show too?

  • I think he's played it at every show so far... but I'm not sure. I have a video of it on my page though, if you can excuse to excruciatingly bad sound quality =/

  • as long as its on the new album....with strings please. lol

  • sounds like his new album is going to be his most interesting yet

  • i LOVED this when he performed it in Pontiac. gorgeous!

  • Agreed, all of his new songs were lovely.

  • Great recording! This song blew my away live.

  • I saw the "theres too much love" video like the day after you put it up, and then I came back to it and saw there were 30,000 views and then later saw it was featured on pitchfork. Congrats, and thanks for these :) I saw him myself in Pontiac and took some videos but I was right in front of the speakers so my sound is pretty terrible.

  • What? I'm not trying to be anything... I've been stalking his whole tour. It's totally possible my numbers were off, if anything it was more of a congratulations, that this person's video was featured on there. I could care less about when I saw it.

  • the girl is the lead singer from crypticize

  • who is the girl singer?

  • his new shit is genius...

  • Oops. My previous post was meant to say Holy Cow! I guess that's how shocked I was by this piece. I can't wait to hear what this sounds like in a studio version.
