beck was a wrestler more than a fighter. He always looked for that type of takedown he just used too. I don't have him anywhere near my top 10. He didn't really beat anyone note worthy and he usually did just enough to get a decision. No real beat down or KO's against big names
Even though Beck was a destroyer of men, he was injured a lot, & had a reputation as not being mean enough. He hit VERY hard, but he was not a mean, miserable guy like Chelios. There was always the implict threat of Barry. Many said that considering how physically imposing he was he didn't assert himself enough as an intimidator or to deter other teams not to take advantage of the more skilled players. His ex-coach, Herb Brooks said the C on his sweater stood for Coward, not Captain. Damn!!
It surprised me too, but you can find it at Wikipedia. Here's the quote: "When Herb Brooks coached the Rangers, he was disappointed at Beck's efforts as team captain, & said, "The 'C' on Beck's jersey stands for 'Coward.'" It's possible he could've been alluding to something else, like maybe the fact that Barry wasn't a rah-rah, get-in-your-face guy with teamates who needed a kick in the ass (although I don't know how he behaved with his teamates), but look up Barry Beck on Wiki & read his bio.

@dzanier Herb Brooks never said the such. He was too classy for that. Reveal your source for that absurd remark.
