I've been holding back on getting Portal 2, and now that I've found out that Stephen Merchant voices a character in it, I'm reticent to buy it. It's a kind of uncanny valley thing. I can't look at this video and believe that voice is coming from that flying robot, because it's clearly Stephen Merchant the voice from adverts for Barclays bank and The Office. The man who just plays Stephen Merchant in everything he's in. I can picture him in a booth recording this. Total failure of immersion.

Very awesome - I think Stephen Merchants voice is perfect for this character. It's strange to hear it after I've listened to him on The Ricky Gervais Show and XFM podcasts. Has he done any other games? If so what? I'd like to hear more of his character voices.

I love how the title of the video is "Best of Wheatley," and it's pretty much everything Wheatley says throughout the entire game. I mean, I really do love it. That's not sarcastic.

And I don't understand why people say they don't like Stephen Merchant's voice acting. I love it....to death. Until it....until it kills me.

I really do think that it's amazing how he managed to capture the bumbling idiot that Wheatley is, while still maintaining the madness, the power, and the insanity. Brilliant.

When I was playing the earlier levels I found myself actively trying not to escape with Wheatley, so I could go back to being tested on by GLaDOS, who is brilliant.
