I just went to sliver glenn today for the first time and new nothing of this forbidden cave... after 10 minutes in the main spring I was bored and ventured off and came upon the roped off area and I just had go in... and what i saw was the most amazing spring that I've ever seen!!!!! I only had time to dive down once to the bottom and explore... when I came back up I was being yelled at by the park ranger and was told to leave the park! At least i didnt get the $20,000 fine! So it was worth it!
I was there today; yes one of the boils is roped off but there is a large basin with two little caves in the spring. Tons of fish; more fish than I have ever seen in any Florida spring. I saw a bass that must of weighed 8 pounds. It is very busy with familys and kids. The park is somewhat poorly maintained. Kind of dirty looking with these big buzzard birds hanging around everywhere. Too bad because it is a very pretty site.
Saw this video on youtube and it made me go to silver glen yesterday - at first i couldnt find this boil.. and i was like, whats up with that, then i saw the roped off area and snuck over. it was AMAZING!!! it has become one of my new fav. springs. i made sure to keep my eye out for gators, but man, that hole is incredible. thx for the vid.
if you like this one, check out blue hole spring within the ichetecknee state park, it's a lot like this one but larger and you are actually allowed to be there. it's about 35 feet deep, and with the flow pushing you out, it's a real challenge to reach the bottom if you are free diving.
@xRylinx oh ya some retard went into the area (thats now roped off) and he knew he couldnt make the swim but he went anyway and passed out and died, thats what this old dude who worked at the park told me, but i went there anyway and there is the best fish down there, i saw 60 - 80lbs fish down there
i'm gonna sneak in there when i go the day after tommorow! and if i get eaten by a gator, I DON'T CARE! XD seeing the awesome fish will be worth the risks!
