Actually, I've figured it out. I know exactly what they are doing. They are so PISSED off at modern pop music, and the warped establishment of teenie bopper sales, that they are showing the music that is being composed in studios and performed by Mickie Mouse Clubs members is nothing impressive, and repeating their structures shows that teens arnt interested in the music, but the images and celebrity of the industry. Excellent stuff! I was so happy to hear that people I respect musically were trying this power pop thing. I LOVE Big Star and stuff like that. Power pop is even a key element of Nirvana's music. Also, I think James' hair has been grey/silver longer than Bun E's.

I couldn't disagree more.Super-bands should only be formed if the artists involved think that it will push their limits or maybe push them in a direction they have never been. This is not a departure from anything and it is very obvious it is just a blatant attempt to sell records.This music sounds just like any other cookie-cutter pop song that hangs around for 15 minutes and then fades into the abyss that is mediocrity. I highly doubt that this would have been done if money were not a factor.

As for the other stuff you said, I think this is a case where these guys were friends first and just wanted to make something fun for fun-sake. They aren't trying to blow anybody's mind. To their defense, they admitted that "Tinted Windows" was a joke name after all of the other pretentious sounding band names out there. I don't know if you're recallling his MMMBop days, but Taylor's voice has changed quite a bit actually.

Anyway, these lyrics are so simple, it's almost insulting. Yet, there are some critics out there who think this is genius? Really catchy melodies, but there's more to music than just hooks. I can't see this being that successful.

I have to disagree with you. I think that it will be very successful. Look at most of the music today. It is all the same, either dark and dreary or dance music with horrible lyrics and demeaning.
