I saw him on heyx3 thru youtube. He did a good job! Im not happy some of people like martinthor and nsasukes make negative and unpleasent comments. "Freaking Japan???", watch your language!! There are so many foreigners live in the US and speak fluent English. Why not Americans who live in Japan speak fluent Japanese. He is not trying to prove anything. He just loves Ken Hirai's song. I think you got the question back to front. The question has more to do with why singing in a foreign tongue should be considered weird. I don't think it's weird. In a globalized world, it's much more reasonable to assume that interchange of world's population will occur. That includes showing interest in other cultures, languages and other various activities which may involve singing or even moving abroad. Unless you belong to the narrow minded Neo-conservatism of course.
