there's no application process for a new contract. If Nova decides not to offer you a new one they send you a letter a month before your current contract expires. There's no disputing them, because your contract ends when it ends. You can find examples of Nova's 'non renewal notices' on the internet....
there might be no official process but if you send in a letter asking for another year contract, its *very difficult* for them to refuse it. This is a known fact.
if you work for the company, then ask for a new contract and see if you get rejected. as for the documentation, you know that is laughable, this company would never bind themselves into something such as documentation
you're taking a general experience and applying to it the label of "fact", it's not a fact. yes, most teachers don't have a problem renewing their contract but the important point you are missing is that Nova can and *does* use the 1 year renewable contract to its advantage. Renewing the contract is entirely at the discretion of Nova and there is nothing that actually binds or compels Nova to renew it.
i guess i was wrong to it was a known fact, i shouldve said it was a known 'thing'. the point i was tryin to make was that there is something that does 'compel' nova to renew it IF the instructors asks for a renewal. there must be some law because supposedly they have to rehire you unless they can prove you have physically damaged their property or committed a crime...
There is no law that states they have to rehire. After 3 consecutive contracts it would become difficult to defend a non-renewal in court. One way or another, 97% of eikaiwa (including Nova teachers) teachers leave inside of 3 years...let's just say it's not a coincidence
most people come for the visa or only for a year, not because nova didnt renew their contract. do u know anyone who did nothing wrong, who wanted to have their contract renewed, but didnt get it?
I know of a few cases of people intending to stay but got non-renewals, mysterious 'student complaints' that had not been mentioned before cited in the ones I have seen, impossible to survey all non-renewal letters or draw a conclusion as to warranted vs unwarranted. It's probably more realistic to say that most leave inside of 3 years because they are unsatisfied with the company.
Hello, I am an EX NOVA employee, I quit NOVA on July 15th and have not recieved a pay check. DO NOT rely on the last paycheck if you are quiting. If you already have factored the check into your plans, make sure you get resources from alternate sources. If you are interested in getting a group international Lawyer with me, please reply. There must be some Justice here.
I heard something today that I never thought about in 4 years of this shite, since they only promote from within, they dont actually HAVE many people with management or people skills...at least amongst the gaijin wankers who came here straight from uni...So, no wonder the company is so full of screw-ups, embarrassing japanophiles, and misanthropic brown-nosed losers.
Many people use NOVA so they can visit Japan for a year. It is expected that people leave after a year to either go back home or to find a teaching job in a Japanese school. That is the reason for the high turnover.
Also, NOVA is a business. It is interested in profits, like every other business on the planet. They don't care about your opinion about the job, they just want you to do it.
Sorry you didn't enjoy NOVA but it seems like you went into it with the wrong expectations.
The video shows that everything she talked about has a legitimate basis.... your comments address nothing that was in the video. Your opinions, while quaint, are irrelevant....unless you can back any of them up with something other than your mouth.
i dont think it is because nova is racist but because in a big sense japan is racist. (american, austrailian, british. french italian black brown white == gaijin. totally agree with all your comments
Another home run here; When I first saw Khalilahs' video,I felt sadness, recognition&surprise there wasn't
a hundred more like this on here.Sorry to be Mr.Nitpicker again, but there's a typo in the subtitling with 'wasn't'("wans't")-otherwise,excellent work.
I'll have to reconsider the 3 glasses of scotch that I normally drink when editing these videos! I've made corrections to this one and the first, and may repost the videos
I just read today that Nova is filing for bankruptcy and that most of its teachers are going to be retrenched. Many teachers are also owed salaries.

actually if you as the instructor apply for another contract its "very" hard for them not to renew it, regardless of what you have done.

If it's a 'known fact' then I am sure you can point to or produce some documentation to substantiate it?
