  • and don't say I have a "Personality Crisis" either....

    I know what I like, and what I don't,

and I don't like this, lol

  • What's the big deal? Just sounds like a bad mashup of the Stones and Meatloaf,

or some sort of Rocky-Horror-Picture-Show-sounding crap

I'm a fan of punk rock, but that doesn't mean I have to like all of it..

  • @monsterbucket97 you're the man

  • @monsterbucket97 look up dirty penny

  • NYD...way ahead of their time! That was one of the major pitfalls of them but one of their major triumphs of being remembered all these years later. Great rock n roll!

  • i dont care in the slightest wether their rock n roll or punk , the new york dolls are fucking awesome regardless of what genre they fall in.

  • This is crazy. David Johanssen is listerally screaming. Before screaming was even introduced into rock n roll as a vocal technique. True innovators

  • @Viperplayer187 screaming has been around since rock and roll's birth.

  • they are not the same without johnny thunders

  • Saw these guys live a few years ago. Best concert I've been to.

  • @TheButtercupTube Ive seen them this year and also last year. It was horrible lol I only went to see David and Sylvain, they had Steve Conte and Sammy Yafa it was okay last year but this year was horrible, they have some new Johnny Thunders hack wanna be on guitar, coulden't play for crap. Johnny is probley turning in his grave along with Jerry and Billy and Arthur saying wtf are these guys doing lol

  • @tatethompson1234 Well that concert I was at was great. That was back in 2008.

  • 2 words about this song:

  • Oh, and people calling girls like me lesbian. What about all the 80's girls that fell in love with people like Johnny Marr or that guy from Depeche Mode? Most of them are as straight as a line. Get your facts right people.

  • jagger 2!!!

  • David Johansen sings and looks like mick jagger

  • Personality Crisis his ist the point today .. en fin

  • This is some great sludgey and dirty rock & roll.

  • Ahhhhhhhhhhhh-OOOOOOOOOO! Prima Ballerina is right! lol! xx

  • this song can only be enjoyed played VERY loud!

  • @lazzo1977 - it can be enjoyed quiet too, that's another reason why its so awesome

  • dolls created punk

  • No way. The Stooges created it. Their first album is from 1969 and it has the punk sound already. Then in 1977 it was the official punk explosion with the Sex Pistols. I dont know why Johnny Rotten said he invented punk, he didnt invent anything at all.

  • The Dolls Give Me A Hope That More Bands Will Be More Like Them In The Future,They're A Cross Between David Bowie,Kim Fowly,And The Rocky Horror Picture Make Up Artist(:

  • @JoanNBowie6464 YES! Rocky Horror! That's what this makes me think of! It's the voice and the piano and the general campyness. Such the win.

  • I love these guys! Whether you consider this punk or glam rock or whatever you call it, I just call it some good kickass rock n roll! :D

  • There is fine between true rock n roll and emo screamo, you cant compare them together cuz they have nothing in common so shut up !!!

  • i just orderd this album! this sounds like a win win for me!

  • The bass line at 0:24 is pretty kick-ass.

  • I don't understand why people scrutinize punks hisotry so much. VlevetUndergroundpubrockproto-punkthewhorollingstonesreggaeblah blah blah. A bunch of bands in the 1970s decied to play thre chords. Whopty fuck. Dolls rock, case closed.

  • C-D-G Excellent chord progression. I liked it so much I ripped it for a song I wrote called Steal & Squeal I hope you will give it a chance. The Eddie Haskells - Steal And Squeal

  • see new personality 2/ or gospel group prepares for next step / or god's Blessings on face book

  • the genre is called''street level scumbag glam rock'' music for trash, by trash. and i am trash.

  • @darkside1918 Rockstar, in case you didnt notice but Punk Rock stars are a special breed, If everyone walked around wearing Eyeliner and looking like Dolls, would it be cool anymore? No people imitate untill imitation is no longer considered imitation, then you become a tool, a copycat, Un Original, And yes if a guy is wearing Eyeliner and looks like a doll, and SUCKS at playing an instrument then yes he is a fag POSER

  • @avgsitizin I'm not saying EVERYONE should wear eyeliner and stuff. I'm just saying people seem less opener with their looks as in the 80's and 70's. I just find those people who call others FAG or POSER just very disrespectful. After all, they CHOSE to look like that, and you should respect one's choices.

Sorry I just woke up ><

  • @darkside1918 .. right on !! the dolls and especially thunders just had TONS of attitude. man that was an awesome time to be a teenager !!! god i miss that...

  • @darkside1918 shut up

  • @darkside1918 oh the dolls rocked ! im a bloke !

  • @darkside1918 You may be a lesbian.

  • @bradford8232 I find it pretty pathetic that you say such thing, only because I like the Dolls. This'd mean that EVERY Dolls fan would be lesbian or gay. And anyways, what's wrong with being gay or lesbian? It's their own choice and you should respect that.

  • @darkside1918 BY THE WAY. I was just making a simple observation. If you are attracted to boys who dress like girls, and you want all boys to dress like girls, then you are probably a lesbian, I never said there was anything wrong with that though.

  • @bradford8232 Well, I never said I'm attracted to them, I just said I like it that they got the guts to do it. So get your info right next time please.

  • @darkside1918 I never said there was anything wrong with being gay or lesbian. YOU are the one that said "why can't men look like the Dolls"... you are trying to tell people how they should look. I think people should dress however they want, and however they are comfortable doing so. YOU on the other hand want people to dress to your particular liking.

  • @darkside1918 Personally, I love their songs, but if you want men to look like them, maybe you have some sexual problems, I mean, why should you like men if they look like women? (I'm not homophobic)

  • @Eirod92ra Because most men are homophobic, they disgust men who wear make up. I think it's a great way of showing your individuality -can't spell that word- and showing your feminine side. There has always been a great space between men and women, and I think that's laughable, there hardly is any difference between the two sexes. So I think wearing make up is a great way of showing independence and to close the gab between the sexes. And believe me, there's nothing wrong with me sexually.

  • @darkside1918 i love you

  • @JhonyHellrocker Yaay! =D

  • @darkside1918 yeah you´ve got a cool way of thinkin xD

  • @JhonyHellrocker Haha thanks dude :)

  • @darkside1918 Thats pretty cool a 12 year old into what can be considered some early punk rock.

  • @BeardleProductions Haha, why thank you (: I actually like A LOT of older music ;)

  • @darkside1918 Nice, check out the vandals, the varukers, DK,Operation Ivy, etc. if you haven't already.

  • @BeardleProductions Haha, sure c:

  • hah!

    fabulous!

we NEED a time machine, baby.

  • for lyrics /watch?v=xmyaqyTM58s

  • I showed this to my dad and he asked me why I was listening to the Rolling Stones.

    lol

  • Yeahhh!!!!!!

  • Hey 'Gamer777, you like the public animal number 1? I noticed on your page you're into GG as well, that's cool.

  • @NinerTiger Yeah the Geege is #1 when it comes to punk music in my opinion.

I drove my hippie nigbor to drinking when I coverd his songs in my garage. I have a band myself. GG Allin is one of my influences.

  • there pretty good but dont get why they dressed like chicks

  • @james0hetfield23

To go against the norm? It can be overlooked in this case. I'm gonna sound like Mr. obvious again myself, the song is awesome.

  • These guys are going to tour with Motley Crue and Poison this summer.

  • @WEINBAUER Awesome. I wish Hanoi Rocks and Def Leppard would be there. That would be one hell of a HairMetal party bro.

  • @TheRedNeckGamer777 That would be kool.I think Def Leppard is touring with Heart this summer. One concert tour I think would be the ultimate event to see would be a mega summer tour featuring Bon Jovi and Def Leppard in a stadium tour. Both bands of course would play full headling sets.Of course I know Def Leppard would go on first. But they're both the real 80's bands who survived well into the 90's headlining arenas still and are still relevant with the youth of today as well.

  • @WEINBAUER I forgot to put Bon Jovi in there.

Yeah he and Def Leppard are 2 of the Glam Metal bands that diddnt change their style of music to fit the Grunge craze of that time. Them and Twisted Sister.

Imagine this bro. If every Glam Metal band got together and did one big 3 to 4 day concert. Kinda like woodstock, we could call it Hairsock LOL.

  • @TheRedNeckGamer777 Speaking of a hair band that change to the grunge style and did it awesome was Warrant. Those 3 albums Dog Eat Dog,Ultraphobic and Belly To Belly were amazing.Real heavy stuff.

  • @WEINBAUER Yeah Warrant is realy good.

And your right those 3 albums were bad ass.

Grunge is another awesome genre of music that just stands the test of time. Now, thanks to some dumb-asses in the hierarchy of the music world, the turn of the century has offered us emo. Why cant we have another unique style of music? Emo isnt unique its just gay.

  • @TheRedNeckGamer777 emo is a trend, if you actually listened to emotive hardcore that was coming out in the late 80's/early 90's i dont think you'd have the same opinion

  • @zosothedestroyer Yeah I've listened to that. Its actualy prety awesome. I guess its just the trendests (and a select few bands) that make my opinion of emo a little sour. At least emo has somewhat of an apeal. I cant stand the tweenie-boper music of today. I hate to bring him up but untalented people like Justin Beiber gets fame for practically nothing. He cant sing (he uses autotune to do that). He cant write a song ( he has gohstwriters to do that for him). He cant even play an instroment.

  • @zosothedestroyer I mean only reason he Beiber is so popular is because the little pre-pubesant girls like him. And they make up 99.999% of his fan base (same goes for the Jonas Brothers). The other 0.001% of Beibers fanbase goes to Eric Douglace (if he even is a fan). The famous Youtube troll who made a video that threatened other Youtubers who were critical of Beiber and his music.

  • @TheRedNeckGamer777 haha justin bieber isnt emo bro, have no idea why you think that

  • @zosothedestroyer I diddnt say he was emo. I said he was tweenie-bopper. Youknow tween music like backstreetboys nsync and gay bands like that?

  • @TheRedNeckGamer777 "Why cant we have another unique style of music? Emo isnt unique its just gay" thats what you said, and I responded to it. There was no mention of Justin Bieber before this comment so how am I suss posed to know your talking about tween music?

  • @zosothedestroyer Sorry.

But you gotta agree tween music sucks right?

  • @TheRedNeckGamer777 yeah teen music is shitty, but there was some good shit that came out in the 50's haha

  • @zosothedestroyer Yeah there was some 50s stuff that was pretty good lol. But that was back when teen music was actualy trying to be good. Back when they were writing their own material.

  • After one listen, you're hooked. I was.

  • @NinerTiger No shit. This song is awesome.

  • @NinerTiger

The Newyork Dolls kinda reminds me of an American version of Hanoi Rocks. But they play the same genre of music. That would be Glam Rock/Punk/Metal.

  • Having grew up in the 70's I can certainly say they provided a refreshing change to the corporate dreck that was being shoved down our throats at the time. A band that was both over and underrated.

  • This song is so actual all the time!

  • One person isn't comfortable in high heels.

  • nou en. toen al die grootbekken nog in de strontluirs lagen luiterde dolly deze al

  • nou en.

  • Great Song, Great Band, Great Times! This was a definite response to the 60s. Course correction of music history.

  • Y'all are spacing out The Ramones...THEY WERE PUNK!

  • Somethings wrong with this rolling stone song

  • The beginning of this song sounds so familiar, did anyone else notice this?

    Where is it from?

I think someone in the 80's copied it, please tell if you know.

  • Poison..."Talk Dirty to Me" or "Nothing But a Good Time" or anything else. So many of the hair bands in the 80's copied them. Izzy Stradlin loved them also.

  • @Teenager2thecore I found out where I heard it. Rock'N'Roll All Night by KISS. That was killing me for like three days.

  • Protopunk Roools! Time to Kick Out the Jams! I love this new "Protopunk" sound. Its got a good beat, I can dance to it, I'd give it a "10"

  • I remember when I was young I wanted to buy this cd but my sister didn't let me because of the cover Dx

  • "Wondering how celebrities ever mend - lookin fine on TELEVISION!!!"

  • I don´t think that Dolls were better than The Clash, indeed, without them (and others like Iggy Pop) there would have been no punk rock.

  • @villadavid4ever yeah right dude new york dolls made punk you fuckin loser

  • @1garrettbro Fucking loser? WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU CALLING ME THAT? Have a problem with me, fucking pussy? What the fuck is your problem if I like the Clash more?

    Man, these you tube trolls..

  • technically they were at the top specially on stage (look others videos) GROUPE FANTASTIQUE I remember 1973 when they came in France!!!

  • No one get me wrong, I Love The Clash. I also enjoy many other bands, it's just that most of those bands have already gotten most of the credit they deserve. The Dolls are rarely mentioned when it comes to influence on Punk. Most people think bands like The Clash, The Ramones, and The Sex Pistols were the absolute first bands playing that type of music. I was mainly upset with the ignorance of most so-called "knowledgeable" music people.

  • @GnarButter90 No, actually everyone mentions them when talking about the bands that influenced punk. The Ramones, The Clash and The Sex Pistols were actually the first punk bands. The Ney York Dolls just opened the door for them. Don´t mistake punk with protopunk :)

  • @villadavid4ever I actually don't like any of the terms used to describe any of these bands. I think all of these bands were just playing rock n roll. The public just didn't know what to call it because they had forgotten what it was.

  • @GnarButter90 Why label it as rock´n´roll if it isn´t the same thing that Elvis, Little Richard and Bill Haley were singing? Music goes forward..

  • @villadavid4ever Because that is basically what they were playing. They just had better amplification. Most of these songs are just good old Chuck Berry riffs.

  • This is Morrissey's absolute favourite band of all time. They influenced the Smiths!

If they hadn't already earned my respect through their great music, they would've through influencing the Smiths and pretty much the entire punk movement! Steve jones of the pistols is embarrassed about how much he copied johnny thunder's movements on stage. He's got nothing on Johnny!

  • 01:26 your were butta flyin .. voice sounds so hilarious

  • This IS..... "THE SHIT!!!"

  • @eaglesgeorge8 GREAT STUFF

  • So this is where KISS got there idea(:

  • I think if the Joker (as portrayed by Heath Ledger) had a theme song, it might be this song.

  • NY Dolls actually influenced Punk music

  • love the Intro

  • I was just listening to The Clash and, although I like them, the Dolls blow any of their songs away. And look who gets more credibility? The New York Dolls may be the most underappreciated band of all time. If it wasn't for them there would be no Clash or punk rock for that matter.

  • @GnarButter90 Ramones...

  • @Chrstar - Ramones formed 3 years after New York Dolls.

Anyway, Punk was a progressive creation, there's not one band that "invented" it. However the amount of credit Ramones gets is beyond ridiculous considering bands like NYD, Iggy & The Stooges and so on came way before them.

  • @GnarButter90 yup! when these guys hit the scene it must have been like a UFO landed...

  • @GnarButter90 or glam

  • @GnarButter90 I encourage you to take a more pluralistic view to music.

  • @GnarButter90 I don't know if there wouldn't be any punk without the Dolls. The Stooges had already hit. Something was going to happen. But without the Dolls Punk would have sounded very different.

  • @JLWing77 True. I just think I was a little ticked off that the Dolls don't ever get the credit they deserve. Any list of the greatest artist never even makes mention of them. This, all while bands like The Ramones, The Clash, and especially The Sex Pistols are consistently in the top 30 and are praised for bringing Rock n Roll back to where it should be. The so-called "Proto-Punk" bands were too far ahead of their time to be fully embraced.

  • @GnarButter90 Understandable. They're like the Velvet Underground of pre-punk. HUGE influence, zero radio play.

  • @JLWing77 There wouldn't be any Clash without the Dolls. Mick Jones said he wanted to form a group after he saw a Dolls' show. So, no NY Dolls, no Clash, ain't that a shame??

  • @MrJoeStrummer96 That would have been awesome, because I think the Clash are art school poseurs.

  • @MrJoeStrummer96 That would have been awesome, because I think the Clash are art school wannabe's and sellouts.

  • @GnarButter90

I find very hard to believe that any song of Dolls can blow away some masterpiece of London Calling, Sandinista or Combat Rock.....very hard to believe

take the Stones and the Stooges and you can understand how a song like this came out.....but where did it come from songs like Lost in the Supermarket, Straight to Hell, Broadway by Clash

I think it's better if you listen ot them another time

  • @JazzMelrose I just meant that I thought the Dolls songs had more power to them. The Clash are great, but I think they just sound thin compared to the Dolls.

  • @GnarButter90 I think Clash in the first album were really similar to the Dolls, I mean for the music. BTW I don't think The Clash would sound that thin compared to the Dolls

  • Comment removed

  • @GnarButter90 Steve Jones pretty much lifted his guitar style from Johnny Thunders.

  • @GnarButter90 The dolls were more raw than the Clash and more original, but the clash incorporated many styles into their music. Anyway it's just a matter of opinion both are great, can't they coexist as two brilliant bands?

  • @GelGsound I never said I didn't like The Clash, I just said that I thought Dolls were better and don't get the recognition they deserve. Yes, they are both great bands.

  • @GnarButter90 You're all encompassing statements are baseless and stupid. Apparently you've never heard The Stooges, The Who, Television, etc.

  • @AphroMagic I Listen to all three of those bands. My comments were just referring to the Dolls not getting the recognition they deserve. The Dolls were before Television by the way.
