Dr. Mario was gonna appear in brawl, but not as a clone...he had a unique moveset such as a final smash that slowed down time and made him invincible, and an ground pound,and a flying move.

Dr.Mario was awesome in melee, because my favorite character in the Smash bros games is Mario and most of the time I would win in melee again my three other friends

But out of the nothing one of them began using Dr.Mario as his main fighter against me,stating that Mario is a clone and all sorts of crazy things and he was great with him too ! ,always rivaling me and having a "cape tennis" sometimes with a super scoope, it was hilarious.. good times ;)

I like Dr. Mario's taunt in Melee. (You know, the move where he flips a pill like a coin?) I'm wondering: What are the controls for taunting? The D-Pad on the GameCube controller does nothing, and L and R are for shields.

@ColassalNegativity Besides him being a clone they need to start making more characters with pairs from the same series, "link and zelda" "mario and luigi" they are very different they only have like four of the same moves but nerfed, the best thing about melee was no character gets left behind and they should do the same thing they did to brawl

@SuperPikachuDude Because he is a clone of Mario. His moveset is exactly the same. Just his forward+smash has less reach, but inflicts more damage. His B move is slightly stronger but shoots a shorter distance. His A combo is just slightly slower. I mean, he is seriously virtually identical to Mario. I mean, it's the same person, but different costume. The one character I do wish remained was Mewtwo, but Lucario does have a better moveset in Brawl.

@SuperPikachuDude Yeah. Well, a lot of the new characters were clones. In fact, Roy is a clone of Marth and they were both new characters and unlockables. Kind of ironic how two unlockables are clones of each other.

Gannondorf is definitely a keeper, but he seriously needs his own moveset. He is from the past and Cpt Falcon from the future and both completely different series' yet he is a clone of him?

Toon Link you can pretty much say is the new and improved Young Link.

@ColassalNegativity Lucas* And, they can put them both in.Have you ever considered what I just said? It was time limitations and they coulden't finish them. Besides. Read the wikipedia. Lucas was going to be in Melee but he was cut out because Mother 3's delayed release AKA his first apearance. Think they would cut him out? If they plan to have anything in the game. I'm sure all charectors will be in during the next one. Nintendo will just make more time by starting on it earlier.

@bakugoneman123 I think that Wikipedia is wrong on that. Wikipedia is not always right. And Mother 3 came out in like 2006 or so when Melee came out in 2001. Yeah, I'm completely certain that nobody knew about this Lucas character back when Melee came out in 2001 including the creators of the game.

Besides. There are some noticeable differences in how Lucas' moves work to Ness. Dr. Mario's moves are completely identical to Mario's with only a few slight differences in distance and damage.

I can imagine his final smash: Every opponent is put in a bottle, while Dr. Mario stands on a platform and throws in loads of MegaVitamins, and depending on which ones would do different damage, then a giant one is thrown in and explodes, giving like a million points and an NES style Stage Clear.

@realar if there going to do fludd right with mario they need to have alternate specials for each character like in marvel vs capcom. On mario moveset would have the rocket nozzle as up b or even the rocket nozzle as side b. This would open up so many possibilities for the new game. However instead of dr mario why not paper mario think about the paper contraption moves he could use.
