@sofiamedia I've just fixed that blinking during recording. CISCO forum . You need to keep right arrow ant trash bin button together, and then press power button. I was looking how to fix it for months! and that is so easy. Tomorrow I'll do a test. For now I've blocked my pancake video. I think I'll make new one with better quality witout pulsing light in the background. as tha's kinda su@ to watch it all the time during video. Regards :)

@KurlyNinja I have two flips and the little silver ring fell out of one and it is still working fine. I am pretty sure that is just a decorative bit. As for it not turning on, read through the comments. There are a few people who have also listed reasons which seemed to cause the flip not to work (full disk, full trash on disk that hasn't been emptied.. you access the flip disk while it is hooked up to your computer) Contact Flip too. Good luck!

I am writing to you because I like your tutorial on this and my questions is if my Flip Ultra does not charge with in 6 hours while using my laptop windows vista what should i do after that and for the Eneloop batteries I have never heard about those before now where can i get those from ?
@stonygurl I sent you a message but I thought everyone should know that you can get Eneloop batteries at stores that sell cameras and camera equipment. I would buy the external charger to charge the batteries. Don't rely on your computer to charge them. Good luck!

@karpic64 First try contacting flip. Then look below.. there is one girl who had something similar on her flip and it ended up having to do with too much trash on the drive.... you can access the flip drive on your computer and empty the trash.... I wish there was a rubber flip so that I coudl drop it all the time without having any problems...
Weather can do some nasty things - make sure your USB/flip/HDMI ports are clean and hook it up to your computer. If the computer recognizes it and you can see your videos/pics (if you had any stored on there), then that means that atleast the drive is working. Leave it plugged in for a while to make sure it has a chance to charge, then take it out and try again. If it doesn't work, call tech support - the weather likely damaged another portion of the camera (e.g. lens, etc).
Mine still is not working. I don't have rechargable batteries but I followed the steps and still nothing. It turns on when it's plugged into the computer but won't turn on when it's unplugged. These are brand new batteries I put in too!
@J2daBeatz I'm sorry it isn't working. If you look through the comments, one of the girls mentioned that her brother emptied the trash on the flip and when that file was emptied, the flip worked again.... Good luck.
i have the same camera and i left it out in the rain, it wouldnt start, so i left it in dry rice overnight and now it turns on saying ultra HD then it goes black and the buttons dont work, then i press power again it shuts down, so can enybody help???
I just got one yesterday and it worked great out of the box. I went to turn it on today and nothing happened except the red light on the front started to blink. I tried all the usual fixed like taking out the batteries, updating software, plugging into the computer, etc. When I plug it into the PC it turns on and connects perfectly fine. there is a reset on this it's to the lef and just below the Lens on that camera. Dropping the camera doesn't usually cause that problem it's coincidental, the fact that your batteries may be something other than the 2.4 v 2100mah batteries that the camera requires. I had issues with my flip battery too because of recording short clips and then plugging it in to upload those to my system frequently but i fixed the batt issue by turning it on hitting record let it run down till empty cool &, rep

I tried it once when I dropped the camera (cause I tried everything and read all the camera forums to find this answer) My batteries are fine. The batteries that came with my flip covered the bottom connection which is a known defect with the batteries at that time.. no problems with the replacement ones I talk about in the video.. they are awesome!
@sofiamedia yeah some of the replacements were good ones i have a YT friend in Canada that's had really good luck with the Duracells but he can't recharge them in the camera. it just won't charge them for some reason but he got 4 of them so he just carries the extra set with him. actually i looked into this one a little further just now and the issue you were having may also have been addressed with one of the 2 updates that were put out for the flip last year too . I got mine in Feb 2010
@deathmast403 WAAAAAAAH I hate when this doesn't work..... try new batteries.... hopefully you still have a warranty.. they decided to stop making the flip so your next HD camera will have to be a new brand.
i have the flip ultra 2nd gen an i turn mine on it shows the logo the the screen goes black i tun it of and the logo shows again and when i plug it in to a laptop the connected hing shows up and it makes no noises and cant record an i did this
@tumarkillsjr That sounds like something more serious than just dropping your camera and not having it start. Is it still under warranty? You might also want to use different batteries, the ones that come with the flip don't always charge.
@walshyvids99 I don't know if the batteries matter too much.... it might be something more serious wrong with your flip.. is your flip the new one or the old one.. my instructions are for the New version which is HD, the older version has a reset button.
If you are out and don't have a computer with you, you can just put new batteries in. That will work also.....at least it did for me. Thanks, though, because I didn't know about that part. I could have saved a lot of batteries, since I've had mine with me in most of those cases. :)

@TheGrindkingboi Bummer! Is it the Flip HD or the Flip.... they have two different ways of restarting. Try doing it with different batteries too because the batteries that come with the Flip don't recharge very well. Good luck!
@iRissity I am sorry :-( I just dropped my camera again today and this little silver ring thing fell out of the control button section and my batteries went flying out. I hope you can get it fixed and working. Is it the new flip or the old one? They have two different ways of restarting. The old flip has a reset button which the new one doesn't have.

i have the flip ultra 2nd gen an i turn mine on it shows the logo the the screen goes black i tun it of and the logo shows again and when i plug it in to a laptop the connected hing shows up and it makes no noises and cant record an i did this

@tumarkillsjr That sounds like something more serious than just dropping your camera and not having it start. Is it still under warranty? You might also want to use different batteries, the ones that come with the flip don't always charge.

@walshyvids99 I don't know if the batteries matter too much.... it might be something more serious wrong with your flip.. is your flip the new one or the old one.. my instructions are for the New version which is HD, the older version has a reset button.

If you are out and don't have a computer with you, you can just put new batteries in. That will work also.....at least it did for me. Thanks, though, because I didn't know about that part. I could have saved a lot of batteries, since I've had mine with me in most of those cases. :)

@TheGrindkingboi Bummer! Is it the Flip HD or the Flip.... they have two different ways of restarting. Try doing it with different batteries too because the batteries that come with the Flip don't recharge very well. Good luck!

@iRissity I am sorry :-( I just dropped my camera again today and this little silver ring thing fell out of the control button section and my batteries went flying out. I hope you can get it fixed and working. Is it the new flip or the old one? They have two different ways of restarting. The old flip has a reset button which the new one doesn't have.
