Numbers from March 2008 show the U.S. has 748 people in prison for every 100,000 people. Russia comes in second with 595 prisoners per 100.000 people. England only has 154 per 100,000
Interestingly, the majority of those incarcerated in federal U.S. facilities are there for drug offences (source: U.S. Department of Justice statistics, "Prisoners in 2008")
This type of prisons need whole world. Not only Russia.
