In his defence, though, this was the timetrial on the final day of the Scuderia; one car at a time, against the clock, with marshalls and official observers all the way around the course. If it had happened during TF then I would agree with you 100%.

Well mr know-it-all it is very important especially since the sump is set very close to the ground and prone to disappear while going over curbs or speed-bumps. Oh, I forgot, the lowest point of the engine is set above the plastic cover. Get your facts straight before commenting...
