Intel developed Light Peak (Thunderbolt) on it's own. Apple had nothing to do with it. Intel approached Apple in order to bring it to market - Why? Because inside every Apple computer is an Intel Chipset - not just the CPU. Unfortunately Thunderbolt may be a bit ahead of its time... And since it is aimed a high-end professionals, it's very possible that it will remain a niche product. USB3 on the other hand, while 1/2 the speed is quickly becoming mainstream.
Your setup is hilarious. Now this is what I expect a mac-fanboy to act like. I don't even know how many computers you have there but six nicely draped ipods tend to make you seem crazy. What's the point in this ridiculousness, an inferiority complex? That said, im sure you still are a nice person. I take that back if you can actually tell me what you need all that mac-crap for.
As for Light Peak I am really curious if it will establish or if it's gonna be a second BTX. I guess light isn't cheap.
@TroubleBubble546 Hi Mate, I am so sorry that it has taken me a while to respond to your comment, unfortunately I have been very ill over the past six months and today has been the first time I have been on the computer for a long time. If you had watched other videos of mine you would know that the ipods belong to me, my three children and my wife. there are 5 of us in the house. I have said this a few times on previous videos but I can't keep saying it on every video.
@iharrison30 not to be mean or anything but apple is so overpriced its not even funny, i cant tell you how many times i had friends that tell me their ipod froze or broke in the heat its just sad and mac has almost no support for it
I enjoyed your comment that Light Peak will be the one connector to replace all other connectors. While I enjoy the thought of this minimalistic approach, I don't believe it will happen for a good decade or so. Personally I have a small fleet of USB and FireWire drives and devices that I will never get rid, not for a while anyway. Future devices may come with a Light Peak connector, but I doubt we'll see an iMac anytime soon with just 4-6 LightPeak ports on the back and nothing else.
@ScottBookG4 I totally agree with you mate, on reflection of this video, I personally don't even think Light Peak will take off. I think it will be more along the lines of USB 3 purely for backward compatibility more than anything else. But even at that, I think you are right about USB 3, I don't think we will see an iMac sporting USB any time soon. It will have to be well established before Apple use it on their machines USB 3 has not been awarded such status. Thanks for the feedback mate.
Just wanted to say thank you for your feedback on my LightPeek Review. You are totally right in the points you brought up. However back when I made this review I was going through tough treatment for a serious medical condition and was a bit slower than usual on a lot of things. I think I have improved a bit over time although I have not quite finished my treatment. All the best mate & thank you for your feedback, I will certainly take on board & try to better my content quality.
Older peripherals will not be made obsolete. LightPeak is protocol compatible with FireWire 400/800, USB, HDMI, DisplayPort, etc.. As such, older devices can run on Light Peak with a simple adaptor.
As such, there will be no early adopter hurdle to cross.
Alright, not to be overly critical here but Iam at 1/3 of the video already and cant understand why it isnt called "iphone coming w/ Agent Orange" or something like that.
I dont know maybe iam just too impatient, but I was hoping to hear something about light peak. Now i see why people have to go to college and such to be radio hosts. There is difference between just talking and talking on a topic.
but really no offense intended, i think am just impatient b/c i have a slow connection.
@thecreativeone 3 macs and you say awesome?????? All I can think of is he is backcrap crazy or filthy rich. Seriously you pay 2-3 the price of hardware when it's housed inside a white hot enclosure which has a fruit on it.
Im a big fan of O2 myself even though my reception can sometimes a bit patchy. Vodaphone will be getting it in the new year too (was announced yesterday i think). The competition might spur on lower prices or better contract terms (hopefully)
Light peak sounds interesting im a big fan of firewire at the moment but this might catch on in the next few years. It will be nice to free up space on the side of the computer but a choice is always good too.
its prolly better than having 10 different connections, but at the same time complications in terms of back and forth data and voltage will arise. could be wrong though.
I'm in the UK and I'm very happy with O2, theres no need to switch providers so I'm not going to! This light peek thing seems interesting, but theres no chance that it will overtake USB, USB has already been implemented into everything so this is probably unlikley, but if it happens I'm happy for it to happen!
Hey Harrison. nice vid. I'm still amazed by your setup. I've only just noticed your nano family in the table! ;) Thanks for the shout out. Much appreciated my friend. best of luck.
Brillent video as usual. Hope you are feeling better
Light peak looks brilliant and in my opinion it will become as mainstream in the next few years as USB is now. Because it's the bigest advancement in speed transfer time. Yes their is Firewire but i see Light Peak becoming more main stream
great video, i just wish the iphone should be on all networks this limited network can only be a bad thing in quality of service and for pricing, think apple should become a bit more like all the other phone makers and put their phone availble to all, it could only lead to a happier customer and better sales all round, i personally would only get an iphone if it became avilible on t-mobile

Why are a lot of companys go their own way?
Make some development studios together!! (Apple and Microsoft and so on)
So they can make together some new stuff!!
now the consumer is the bad looking guy!
