  • the only reason those engines can even rev that high is cuz they barely have a stroke to them at all, there stroke is like 2 inchs if not less, resulting in why they gota rev so high to produce power, hence the reason why most v8s are alot louder and produce more torque, cuz they got a lot longer stroke, and dont rev near as high...i still think a high cam v8 sounds the best...

  • Ok, both you and PhilQc109 are stupid, torque is to get the car moving ie. more torque = more acceleration and power is for top end speed. However, too much torque can result a big wheel spin in certain cars which means if the F1 have too much torque, then it'll not accelerate quickly due to excessive wheelspin due to excessive amount of torque.

    TVR Speed 12 and Merc SLK55 definately have way 2 much torque to their rear wheels.

    But then Jeep Cherokee 4.4L V8 is beaten by its diesel sibling :D

  • Yes ur right, torque are for acceleration and power are for top end speed. But in this case, too much can result a loss of acceleration due to loss of traction.

    If you want to say 500Nm or more ur better off having it into 4WD or have massive rear tyres.

    If you look into Merc SLK55 AMG and TVR Speed 12 (or similar cars that u know), they have too much torque for their chassis.

    320Nm @1500rpm is plenty for 2WD cars but then there's nothing wrong having more though.

  • acceleration needs torque,,also low revs engine needs torque. with high rpms you getting high end power. that means LOW RPM, HIGH TORQUE....HIGH RPM, LOW TORQUE!!!

  • The cars that these engines were built for weigh absolutely nothing, they don't need torque or any more acceleration, they need to go faster.

  • In essence torque is affected in which gear you run, and horsepower isn't (has something to do with maths). Anyway, huge torque means you can get huge acceleration in 1 gear or out of a corner but after that, you need the power to keep the acceleration in all gears.

  • Torque is not affected speed is, torque in f1 in secondary since the cars have restricted weight so they only need only sufficient torque for those 600kg, but the Hp is significant, since they need more rpm to get more hp, so they construct light alloy material and pistons! In f1 reaction time is everything! A rally car has only 300-350 hp but more torque than a f1 car, he has 1 ton more t o pull down the road! Torque is the mass of the piston times the lenght it covers in one stroke.

  • you don't have to take care if you only see 4 or 5 injectors. You really know that's a v-10 only closing your eyes end listening the the music!

  • That is a good clip. I mean that renault formula 1 engine can rev up to 18,000 rpm.

    Is it a 3 litre engine or a smaller capacity ?

  • That is a 3 liter engine. The new V8's are 2.4 liters.
