"Humanity" is a philosophical concept, not a scientific one. Embryology can no more tell us whether a six-week embryo is "human" than zoology can tell us whether a cow is "sacred".
It's obvious that abstinence doesn't work. Teens don't tell parents they are sexually active either. If teens can't go to their parents for birth control, they need another safe outlet to go to to ask for help. Planned Parenting agencies would love to connect teens with adoption agencies also, if that's what the pregnant person wants. For those who are pro-life out there, please say yes to proper sexual education in public schools, even if you don't agree with D&E and D&C procedures.
I think everyone should beabstinant, but people DO have the right to all the available education. Even though condoms don't totally work, and the shot only kills HPV, not cancer itself, and the pill is incredibly unsafe and can easily cause sterility. But, they do deserve the WHOLE story, all of the facts, even the ones I just said. I agree though, Abstinance only education can't work alone. If we do that we should also show them footage of abortions as well as how to use rubbers.
Save one future, MAYBE, and destroy another one cause it can't vote or talk. Great strategy! *sarchasm* A pregnant teen can do a lot of the same things a regular one can. Anyone who treats them differently or with disrespect because of it should go to hell. But, abortion is wrong and ACTUAL SCIENCE BY SECULAR DOCTORS shows that an unborn baby is just as human as a pregnant teenager. I AM a teenager and know it is hard enough with being pregant, but two wrongs don't make a right. Mercy is enough.
Exactly. you are a guy, and you will never, ever have to face this decision on your own. Dont go giving some bullshit about how you understand what a girl goes through when she's pregnant, you will never know.
there's a reason why most prolifers are men, if they force a woman to keep an unwanted child, they can skip town and never have to deal with the kid
You dont want unwanted children being made, go get a vasectomy. Dont go telling a woman that her body belongs to her child, and not herself.
So you think that ONE of the woman's "rights" are more important the ALL of the child's rights. I'm not a girl and have no idea what it is like, you'r right. But, I care more about the person being ripped to shreds all for the sake of slight psychological or vanity related reasons. I think the CHOICE is at the party or the hotel, not in the clinic. I feel terrible for rape victims, but tw wrongs don't make a right. An abortion doesn't make any of that better. That is like perscribing amnesia.
@LittleLucrecia "Most prolifers are men". Can you tell me where I can find that statistic? It interests me. Most every pro-life event that I've happened upon seems to be comprised primarily of women. Probably 70-30 or something like that. At least that is what I have witnessed on several occasions. I would be very interested to see some compiled figures on such things. I think it would be interesting, and it might alter my perception, which could be wrong. Thanks for any help!!
you can't even drink, sign a contract, or sometimes even drive in some states, but yet there old enough to make a decision like that on there own?? doesn't make since. heres a source- Oregon reported that 83% of people going for an abortion ages 14-17 were just screwing around. if they don't want the risk of getting pregnant they should keep there legs closed. Should a law be thrown out for the 17% who unfortunately have shitty lives??
I get your point, but please, never criticise the teens for getting pregnant in the first place. They do have a responcibility to good decisions, but insulting them only causes more abortions. I know you mean well, but by attacking the original fact of the pregnancy, you make the teens want to hide it. You make them want to make it "go away". How does mainstream culture tell them to do that? ABORTION So please try to be a bit more easy on them.
They shouldn't even hae custody, and there shouldn't be an abortion in the first place, so why does that matter? The circumstances of a pregnancy don't change the obvious humanity of the child. It isn't crap because regular modern science deffines the baby as being human just as much as you or me. So the parents are also loosing grandchildren, not just their NECESSARY knowledge of their immediate child.
M43 is 1984-ish stuff that only the most extreme, holier-than-thou control freaks would try to pass. M43 opens up a new can of worms & places smart & caring health-care workers under threat of lawsuit for simply doing their jobs to help teenagers deal with a difficult decision. It also puts a too-heavy hand on teenagers which will compromise their privacy & safety. Common sense will prevail & M43 will be defeated. Vote NO.
No one has ever prevented parents from knowing. In fact physicians and nurses are allowed to tell parents now. They just don't HAVE to in the case of abuse. Vote no.
Abortions don't lead to depression? Where do you get your facts? Nearly 100% of all medical and psychological evaluations show otherwise. Planned Parenthood does not want you to know the truth about post abortion depression. It's their dirty little secret.
Could you please cite a legitimate source for your claim that abortion tends to cause depression? An article in a peer-reviewed medical journal? No, I do not consider a fundraising letter from James Dobson to be a legitimate medical source.
Here are a couple legitimate medical sources. There are many dozens more. I purposly omitted religous references but keep in mind, depression whether spiritually based or not, is still depression and is harmful.
1. Ashton,"They Psychosocial Outcome of Induced Abortion", British Journal of Ob&Gyn.(1980),vol.87,p1115-1122.
2. Cavenar, et.al., "Psychiatric Sequelae of Therapeutic Abortions", North Carolina Medical Journal (1978),vol.39.
Okay, now can you cite a source within this century? Can you cite a modern study which has replicated these findings, or are all your sources a generation old?
Do a Google search on post abortion depression before you make a further fool of yourself. There are hundreds of clinical studies and yes, many in the century. (pearls to swine)
I guess ROE V WADE is absolete too then? Forget abortion altogether then. Why does it matter if there isn't a 2 at the beginning of the date? If RVW went back to court they would lose due to modern evidence of the humanity of a developing child.
As a very intelligent advanced English student, I can name at least 4 malicious uses of imagery to make abortion seem evil. Besides, abortions don't lead to depression, completely irrelevant medically (Big science medical buff too.)
Measure 43 provides safeguards re parental notification. If the "CHILD" is in fear of her safety the courts can grant the abortion without the feared parental notification that would put the "CHILD" risk. Read the measure!
What's sleazy are clinics that make their living killing. Sinister tools? Yup! Same kind used by Dr Mengele. Manipulative? How else do you convert viewers to your way of thinking? ALL commercials do so. They manipulate you into buying their products. Parents have a right to know if their daughter is about to have an invasive medical procedure. This post will be rejected. My post was not offensive, nor graphic, nor vulgar. It is guilty of being prolife. The thought police rule.

are you kidding? ...okay..Im going to guess you are kidding (odd thing to joke about)- but for those who think your not- those are the real tools they have to use- and ya- it is grose what they do. and yes-The whole thing IS sleazy- it's an abortion- but the fact that the parent didn't get to know is even more sleazy.
I'm reminded of some of the stuff Lee Atwater used to do. Well, Atwater's ads were slimy, but they worked. Probably this one will work, too, and Oregon will slide a little further down into the hole people like Atwater and Karl Rove have dug for us.
What are you afraid of? Measure 43 provides the always requested "in case of rape, incest, etc." safeguards. Or is it you simply want unfettered abortions at any cost for any reason?

A teenager can make a decision, trust me.
Its common sense to know that if you are sixteen and pregnate, you will face more problems than you can imagine, even more if you tell your parents.
I dont even live in new mexico, and i think you should vote no.
No human being (teenagers included) should ever have to get the "A OKAY FROM MA AND POP" to save their own futures.

It's really very, very simple:
If you don't raise your daughter to be an amoral little slut, then "parental notification" is a moot point.

Oh, this is sad.
Let's say that the guardian or the parent was the one who got the daughter pregnant.
What happens them?
What crap.

Then at least the baby is safe. The social worker service should remove the both children from their custody.
