By the premise you present the world should come to an end every year on January 1st, when our own calendar stops. I think you need to review the section in the bible regarding false prophets.

The only reason one wouldn't take the mark surely would be that they have accepted Christ as Lord and are willing to die physically rather than shame themselves in His eyes with the mark.
The rapture only happens in the 2nd half of the tribulation, the great tribulation. This takes place when the Holy Spirit is taken out of the way and the anti-Christ reveals himself in the Holy temple. "Come up hither," meet Christ in the air.
The Rapture is not going to happen! it is a crutch a pretend get out of jail free card...get over it....either love God or don't but to think you must have this insurance to love God is an insult to Jesus Christ.

First the 7 year Arab, Israeli peace agreement, the mark of the beast first, the the temple then the anti-Christ revealed.
