@kedluben Yes, but with clutch slipping, getting stuck in gear and tranny failure within the first two months of ownership I've got a really bad taste of Nissan. I'm going through lemon law arbitration right now. I have additional videos and some amazing dishonesty during the process. I'm not sure how much I can share, I'm going to have to contact a lawyer to make sure I don't cause serious legal ramifications. I really want everyone to know how Nissan treats it's customers.
Strange how you're driving a car and it brakes while filming? And why did it brake in the first place? did you turn the VDC off like it tells you not too? If you drove it like you're supposed to then it would be covered under warrenty and Nissan would fix it or replace it!!! Or is this an advert for GM? European drivers don't seem to having these kind of problems (I know my friend has one and no problems ever)...
The worse part about Nissan is the customer service and mechanics. I own a GT-R and went to Porter Nissan in Newark Delaware for my 1k service and alignment. The lunkhead mechanic never did the procedure and my tires were all cupped by the 6k service due to his negligence. Nissan customer service would do nothing and was useless. Even the special GT-R customer service refused to help me.
Nissans are spotty when it comes to reliability. My 2000 Maxima has had a flurry of problems within the past 2 years, runs sweet now but heck it did burn a hole in the pocket. Reliability is questionable in Nissans but their driveability is not, they are tons of fun to drive. Hopefully things go better for you, I like your/your wife's car collection.
think i know what people are mistaking about the trans issue! its a fly by wire you hit the gas and the computer decides how much throttle to give to get the most acceleration from the car but it seems the mapping is a little wrong off the line!
it would piss me off to not having the direct feel and the delay off the line. i saw a vid of the nissan people addressing the issue and i think the 2011 will have the mapping fixed!
Hopefully you get it fixed! I have great respect for the car, but for the money you spent it should be flawless regardless. I wish they kept the GTR a six speed rather than auto. Good luck!
I cant comment on much here, but we have had some issues with transmission failure on that car due to some software problems, we have issued several updates to resolve this issue.
Maybe you should have kept the Zo6 and you would be having all these problems! Is your life not important? If youve had all these close calls, than Id seriously ditch this car.
@alpinestar7272 Currently the GTR is sitting in the garage and hasn't been drivin since the final repair attempt by Nissan. It's in Lemon Law arbitration currently and that could take another month or two. I have no intention of driving it any more.
lemon law.. get yourself a new GTR bro! dont stand for this. youre forking over a lot of your hard earned money on this car.. and all its caused you is frustration. BOOOO NISSAN!
2,000 miles and already these problems...this is nissans flagship car and you're story is way too common. Any new updates in the past month about the situation?
You understand you still have the manual paddle shifters on the steering wheel that you can use.... Keep driving in full auto it will be more then a software issue Nissan will have to fix.
I know Nissan's been notorious for electrical problems all these years, my sister has a 2000 Altima, that had so many strange things happen with it electrically. My dad's 2008 Rogue had an electrical problem with the A/C, and then they came out with a software TSB for the ECM, it's CVT is super responsive after that.
I hope they have a good fix for your car. otherwise that's too bad cuz that looks like an amazing car.
Seems like all your issues with the car is all the fault of the computer, I'm not sure the transmission could block the car from moving at all like it is, to me it seems like the computer is completely ignoring your throttle inputs and instead just doing whatever it feels like.
and on another note: WOW the GT-R is jittery, just watching these video's made me nervous.
@gusherb94 I agree, right now it is a software problem. I have some videos I'm going to post that show it taking 4.5 seconds to take off from 25mph under full acceleration. Just a dead throttle as it goes from 3rd to 4th to 3rd to 2nd before it finally allows the engine to rev. It actually drops in RPM to under 1,000rpms under full throttle during this time.
It seems like everything you show and describe is wrong has to do with the computer and faulty software or something, I couldn't imagine the transmission causing a complete block in acceleration like that, it seems like it would have to be the computer not responding to your throttle input.
On another note: WOW the GT-R is a jittery car! it must be hard to modulate all that power with how sensitive they have it tuned.
Actually in the first transmission failure at 400 miles they told me they didn't notice a problem either but they pulled the transmission pan and there were metal shavings and a blue/metallic hue in the oil.
The problems I'm having now are new to the new transmission. The previous transmission did not have the issues I'm having now.
Have you had your clutch slip or transmission get stuck in gear? My wife won't drive it anymore, she says it's too dangerous.
I actually chose the GTR for it's automatic and four seats because I have a family and drive in lots of traffic back and forth to work. I'm really disappointed, Nissan service actually told me to use manual instead of automatic.
I'm tried the manual mode for a while and it seems to be getting worse and it's not all the time.
Has you're clutch slipped, overheated, or got stuck in gear with normal non-spirited daily driving? I think I have something different than the normal delay in for clutch engagement/gear changing.
I get a dead pedal, nothing. The car will start to go, pedal will go dead for a couple of seconds and then it launches.
Really sorry about your car though. I know that in theory it's suppose to shift faster than a human, but somethings are better left alone i guess. Hope you find a resolution. Also hope they make a manual for this car some day!
Sorry you're going through this man. The TR-6060 in the ZR-1 would never treat you like that. Nissan even settled a class-action lawsuit filed by GTR owners for transmission failure. The problem with the wheel hop is with launch control, the GT-R spins the rear wheels. The wheel hop is exacerbated by the launch control. How do you stop the wheel spin and wheel hop ? You don't use launch control. This has been touted as a feature of the car and results in world beating 0-60 and 1/4 mile times.
I believe that it's a combination as well. When the transmission failed at 400 miles it had similar irregularities but I it may have been the computer that put the stress on the transmission.
Looks like a recall situation, at least you will be famous as the lemon GTR guy ... have you invited some car magazine test drivers? I guess you could also make some kind of movie by getting footage of what is happening, going to Japan and the GTR factory ... dude the possibilities are endless ... the story can be a tourette guy whose life is screwed by a Lemon GTR, then maybe a twist with a chick in Nissan getting you new GTR... I would love to watch a film like that, and so would millions
Well, I just started recording and hope to get the transmission getting stuck in gear, clutch slipping and going into shutdown mode or not accelerating from a stop for 2-3 seconds as well as some other strange behaviors. Without the video data they aren't going to help.
:-D, no I have tourettes and it gets really bad when I'm stressed. I had just got the car back from Nissan the previous night and I want it fixed so I was a little high strung. My employees get a big kick out of it, I have a good sense of humor about it so it's all good.
It doesn't launch at 4,500 rpm like the 2009. I was told the 2010 won't engage the clutch while holding the brake in any mode and it does rev while holding the brake so I guess that's the replacement way to launch the car. I've also heard it'll launch at 2,500 to 3,000 without turning off the VDC. It's supposedly softer on the transmission.
damn man that sucks spending so much money on this car and havin these problems with it. u prolly got a lemon outta the bunch

I had the same problem when I first got my car also. You have to drive it in manual mode to get the car to learn your driving style.
Just an FYI: I always drive mine in manual now and downshift to 1st (under 10mph) when coming to a stop.
The computer eventually learned my driving style and no longer hesitated when trying to accelerate and using automatic mode.
Hope this helps! Nice collection BTW! :)

No other problems besides the initial hesitations.
My wife drives it all the time. After the transmission learned the way I drove, it wouldn't hesitate in automatic mode anymore.
Hopefully the dealer will do a TCM relearn and set your clutch points. Once you get it back, try and drive in manual mode for awhile.
Oh BTW while it's in for service, ask them about the steering lock recall.
Good Luck!
