I spent summers there in my youth, 30 years ago, still looks the same, so nice to remember walking around looking in the creek and seeing all the wildlife.
If you can get sheets of cheap, thin tin or copper then your students can make a relief like the fish tile that inspired you. I did a small one when I was a child in school. After I was done, my art teacher scraped plaster of paris onto the back side so the denting would stay, and then he mounted it on a piece of cardboard. I"m sure the project can be found on google.
