Actually, the disciples probably just considered themselves Jews whose messiah had come. The term "Catholic" to describe the Church didn't exist until the 2nd century AD, and it wasn't widely used for a few hundred years later. Whereas the papacy does have a documented lineage, there were numerous other Christian sects that continued for centuries after Christ's death. The Reformation reformed what had become a church gone astray.

Ok, I understand that we are not supposed to be of the world, but there is nothing inherently evil about rock music. I find it amazing that we can overdrive a circuit and make harmonic distortion appealing to our ears. This property of sound is beautiful and I attribute our ability to manipulate waveforms to the creative genius of God...and there's no reason Christians can't take advantage of this aspect of music.

The 'witnessing' of christ was not the reason it has survived for so long - the reasons were multifarious, largely of a demographical nature, so I suggest you brush up on your knowledge of the Patristic era in Christian history.

Actually, Constantine didn't officially convert until right before his death. Up until that time, he faithfully followed Sol Invictus (the Sun God), but turned his empire into a Christian Empire for political reasons.
