I've played darkfall for about a year and a half now. I've done my fair share of pvp. I'd say it's a real weak spot in the game, but it is miles better than the combat systems most mmo's choose.

Downloadin g the free trial today, i like PVP but I have serious reserves about a game where every pvp fight takes 10 minutes of jumping around like a squirrel on crack and is a magewarriorarcher depending on what weapon they pull out. But ill try it.

@aranax69 because.. before they made AOC a gear based game it was a great skill based game.. i was one of the best barbs on the server, could run around naked owning people that had pvp armor on or fully epiced, just because i was better then them. AOC still had its problems... cookie cutter specs, not enough individual customization, set items. Darkfall sucks.. its a step in the right direction... but... not what i expected.

I remember when guardians one shotted everyone, any class that didnt have range and was squishy was easy picking..... may i ask what server you were on and level of your toons? barb wasn't my only one.
@Deathy666x I played on Aquilonia Eu server and was the leader oif the Heralds of Set guild. and yeah I was there since the begining and had a level 50 necor and a level 80 tos. Any melle class could kill caster classes with no chance specially the barb wich had CC break that made him imune wich gave the barb more then enough to time for the kill.

I left the game after 3 months, and 90% of what I did was pvp with some of the major guilds in the server and was involved in the biggest battles on the server.

2) the so called "mage" had 1 r50 spell he used only 3-4 times while having heavy armor

Notice that for what all its done in such a large scale it had to sacrifice a little since technology just aint ready for the full amount of awesomeness to run correctly without massive lag.
You can use anything in this game so he could have more skill in ranged. He is just pointing it out what it is like to fight with arrows against spells.
It's a first-person Runescape with better graphics, free movement, not browser-based, and you can build cities and ships.
In other words, Runescape is good, Darkfall seems awesome (I say seems because I haven't actually tried Darkfall because there's no trial for it and I'm not gonna spend $50 + $15 a month because I may end up not liking it).

@penal420 If you like this pvp, then you really should check out the game "risk your life", greatest pvp system I've ever played, and the game was made and released 2000 I think :) Only the malaysian ver that's official now since they put the eu/usa version down, but u culd always try a priv server otherwise :)

4 the time it takes to kill someone is directly related to how well they paly, if they understand theirs skills then yes, it takes a while to kill (i like it)
5 there are no instances so yes the cities are in open field. there could be a war going on and you could decide you want to meddle in it (i strongly recommend you not to unless you are running around naked since both sides will fire upon you)
1 yes and no it kinda looks like what you see in HD. You don't play darkfall for it's graphics but at the same time you won't say no to darkfall because of a lack of pretty images.
2 yes pretty sure i did not pay for the client download/purchase
3 huge with no fast travel. On foot you are looking at a 2hour RL time run if you want to cross the mainland diagonally not including the islands which would add another 2hours maybe more (swimming sucks)
Wish they'd add a liiiiittle more flavor to the melee. plus its hard to see where arrows even fly, could of borrowed Dark Messiahs ranged/melee system from mplaying.

@aranax69 I also knew some amazing TOSs, bear shamans, conqs, guards, who could own classes that usually dominated their class... i knew the best of the best on the server cause those are the only people that gave up a challenge. You have no room to talk about AOC since you played one of the most noob classes in the game. I had 5 80s with mostly epics or pvp gear, I have a much wider perspective then you, O btw.. i knew a TOS that could own me every duel, only one in game who could

may i pont up a few facts?
1) you used a crappy bow
2) the so called "mage" had 1 r50 spell he used only 3-4 times while having heavy armor
3) .....dude sorry you suck at archery and you probably dont have high melee because you landed more than enough hits to overpwn somone if you got high mastery

Notice that for what all its done in such a large scale it had to sacrifice a little since technology just aint ready for the full amount of awesomeness to run correctly without massive lag.

I don't play Darkfall yet but since player at the point of view the shots are taken from is casting spells too, doesn't that make it mage vs mage?

You can use anything in this game so he could have more skill in ranged. He is just pointing it out what it is like to fight with arrows against spells.

It's a first-person Runescape with better graphics, free movement, not browser-based, and you can build cities and ships.
In other words, Runescape is good, Darkfall seems awesome (I say seems because I haven't actually tried Darkfall because there's no trial for it and I'm not gonna spend $50 + $15 a month because I may end up not liking it).

people who suck dont get to judge the game, if you ask me. ive never had so much fun in an mmo. its ghetto as hell as far as production goes, but man is it one hell of a step forward as far as pvp mmos go. if you want to go play the asian version of wow (aion) go ahead. coming here and trying to say this game sucks just shows how insecure you all are about your games.

no if you go 100% warrior you still get plenty of kills but it depends on your skill, in large scale pvp which is the fun part you must be hybrid or its not that you wont be able to kill anyone but youre just making it harder and youre just being stupid trying it, even the most hardcore warriors i saw still use blinding spell such as comfuse or eye rot

@penal420 If you like this pvp, then you really should check out the game "risk your life", greatest pvp system I've ever played, and the game was made and released 2000 I think :) Only the malaysian ver that's official now since they put the eu/usa version down, but u culd always try a priv server otherwise :)

prima giocaci, poi ne riparliamo. Le animazioni sono una merda, ok, ma non c'è nessun mmorpg che mi abbia divertito così tanto, e sinceramente preferisco animazioni merdose e un gioco immensamente bello piuttosto che animazioni spettacolari per rompermi le palle dopo 3 ore a giocare ad un gioco noioso. Poi ora aggiungono DX11 e altri tweak per i nutellosi.

4 the time it takes to kill someone is directly related to how well they paly, if they understand theirs skills then yes, it takes a while to kill (i like it)
5 there are no instances so yes the cities are in open field. there could be a war going on and you could decide you want to meddle in it (i strongly recommend you not to unless you are running around naked since both sides will fire upon you)

First off im going to buy the game but i need to know some things so if i could get a reply back with answers not replies
1. Does the graphics look like this?
2. can i download the game free and just pay monthly?
3. How big is the map?
4. Is pvp take this long to kill someone?
5. when attacking a castle do i go into a instance type deal or is their castle sitting on a hill somewhere in the game?

1 yes and no it kinda looks like what you see in HD. You don't play darkfall for it's graphics but at the same time you won't say no to darkfall because of a lack of pretty images.
2 yes pretty sure i did not pay for the client download/purchase
3 huge with no fast travel. On foot you are looking at a 2hour RL time run if you want to cross the mainland diagonally not including the islands which would add another 2hours maybe more (swimming sucks)

Wish they'd add a liiiiittle more flavor to the melee. plus its hard to see where arrows even fly, could of borrowed Dark Messiahs ranged/melee system from mplaying.

"Best MMO Ever" isn't a claim anyone can make. It all depends on taste. Some people just don't enjoy games like this.
I honestly found it buggy and devoid of life. I didn't like it. You may have liked it, and you may enjoy it, but darkfall fans need to stop acting like anyone who didn't enjoy it is just a carebear or some shit.
