Folk is first and foremost rooted in the volk. Thats not an appeal to popularisism, its an appeal to relevance. This is neither popular or relevant. Damn you for scuppering my expectations. PS. Well done for scuppering my expectations :-)
Pre-ordered this off of Orange Twin's website and got it today. So very awesome. Alot of neat bonus stuff, too. P.S. The lobster is Jeff, according to the credits.
I went to the Pontiac show, last night, and they showed this before starting the first set. It was fucking amazing! If they're stopping by anywhere near you, I TOTALLY suggest going the extra mile to go and see them. The entire night was fantastic, and I even got to have an (albeit short) conversation with Jeff Magnum! It was glorious.
yeah, it was completely surreal. I mostly just stood there, while my friend Brian managed to say some intelligent/not-so-creepy things. it was still fantastic.
I'll get around to posting a video, but at the pittsburgh show last night Jeff Mangum and Julain got rowdy and literally destroyed the stage. Then Mangum and Julian waded out into the audience, and with Julain on the singing saw, JEFF PLAYED "ENGINE"!!! Go to the show if it comes anywhere near your state!
The tour is actually coming to a town near where I live and I can't go because I'm going to be in another state at the time! If Jeff Mangum makes an appearance I will never forgive myself.
If I die and never see this, I won't be disappointed in the least. Seriously, what the hell? I'm all for being creative and original, but this crosses the line by several miles.
@Tribune12345 Don't criticize others when you don't know what you're talking about. Major Organ started in 1997. NMH has been around since 1991. And if you didn't know that you should be able to tell that the songs recorded for Major Organ are way better in quality than say "On Avery Island" or the "Everything Is" EP. Oh and Of Montreal started in 96. A year before Major Organ.
@MTVrocks Sorry friend! I made that comment about a year ago when I had little knowledge on the chronological happenings of the Elephant 6 and an excess of zeal when it came to defending Mangum and crew.
hmm hope it's got more story than is apparent here. currently reminds me a little too much of something like the magical mystery tour beatles movie...which is pretty painful to sit through.
@theboyleastlikelyto you can tell it's jeff at like 10 seconds. maybe not his voice but obviously he had something to do with it. If you listen to "Invent Yourself A Shortcake" you'll hear Jeff use that vocal effect a bunch.
@tyler3t i never doubted that jeff had a part in the music. i have the album and his voice is recognizable in a few of the songs. my question was regarding the pitchfork article that claimed that jeff was in the lobster suit in the trailer even though to me you can't tell who it is at all
I am a lobster, wtf is this?

I have an album of Major Organ and the Adding Machine, but I had no idea that it was for some kind of movie. Weird.

As for a Jeff Magnum appearance.... i doubt it, but wouldn't be surprised.
