How is King's eye condition? I was reminded of that by watching this. I was led to believe the degeneration of his eyesight was irreversible and unstoppable. I hope that's not true.
Stephen King is a fantastic story teller, it's a joy to hear him read his work. I've never been much on audio books, but his Blood and Smoke release was great to hear.
@samspadena what's blood and smoke? i thought i knew about all his stuff! i actually listened to this one on my ipod. the guy who did the voice was pretty good but not his womens' voices.
@dorisblake Blood and Smoke is an audio book designed to look like a pack of marlboro cigarettes. If you're a fan, it's an awesome item to pick up considering alot of what's on there is only available in that audio set. Plus, Stephen King does the voice work for all of the stories which just plain rocks.
This book seems to have more villains and all-around assholes than any book King's ever written. I'm 800 pages in and wish death on so many of the characters.
I read this book in literally five days because when I was reading it i was stressed and excited, and when I wasn't reading it i was thinking about it. This book is freakin addicting!!!
@allxtar yeah no kidding!! haha, that's awesome!! i read the first chapter and set the book down, it being the second SK book I've read, and thought "Ohhhh...shit"
I love all of Kings books. I really enjoyed under the dome even though there where a lot of characters to upload in my mind, and I was really dissapointed in the ending, even with that being said probably the best book I ever read. The story is that great!!! I really hope King make a movie of this one!!!
Wow, it is super cool to hear Mr. King read from Under the Dome! I was mispronouncing "Prestile" (in my head) for sure! It's a great book, I have a few hundred more pages to go! This one is clearly one of my favorites, and I've read just about all the fiction Mr. King has written. As for absolute favorites, I'm torn between The Stand, The Tommyknockers, and the Dark Tower series, how can anyone pick a favorite when it comes to Mr. King -- everything is SO good.
I want him to read that paticular little section where Ollie Dinsmore (Idk if I spell that right) is throwing rocks at the dome. I thought that was a very touching part.
I love these illistrations. With all the characters in this book, it makes it a bit incomprehensible at times so some pictures help out every now and then. I hope that doesn't make me sound like I prefer Clifford over Under the Dome? D:
I've been reading stephen king since 7th grade. He always manages to capture the side of people that people themselves dont want to admit are there. I hsvent read any of his books for almost three years, and thanks to this I'm starting again
@tryingalexk. thank for giving me faith in humanity that not all of youth has forgotten the depth, significance and love of books. (not just books about werewolves and vampires.) :-)
Hey not trying to compare my self to the legendary stephen king but just letting people know about my first published book. "Rasciss" tells the story of a man named Hollowawk who literally defied death and now must face the wrath of petty gods, come onto my channel check out the video I made to promote my book. If u like what u see than pick urself up a copy and let me know what u thought about it
I really wish to God I could get in to writing/reading this stuff! I'm a huge fan of the movie versions of his books but my attention span on reading is so minimal but everyone keeps telling me "If you like the movie you'll love the book" but I've tried about 4 or 5,any secrets to this enjoyment??
@tama69 Yeah, understand where you're coming from. When i started reading King - a good 8 years ago (I'm 22) - i found it hard as well. Cujo in particular, for some reason. But, i found i wasn't ready for some of his novels (e.g Strand, IT - all the sprawling ones). So i started reading Misery and Carrie, which are more 'action-packed', for lack of a better phrase. So i suggest, if you're not an avid reader, start with something simpler and build up to 'Under the Dome'.
This is really neat to have Stephen King read to us from "Under the Dome" This is very special. Thanks Stephen King!!! There is another reading that you may find interesting. A girl reads from the new book The Masseur. "Girl reads from the masseur by John Matthew Martin" at katieblueskiesnow
I always imagined Big Jim more like the guy who played "Porky" in the Porky's movies. Most of these characters pictures are nothing like the mental pictures I'd made of them.
@Portal624 Is "The Stand" that good? I had just recently started reading his books. I had just finished "It". But I am starting to read "The Stand". Do you recommend any books from him? Or what?
@ViperRob42 hahahahahha Mexican gangster XD when i read the book i didn't imagine him like that at all (these illustrations are ruining the characters I had in my head!)
King also makes reference to "Watership Down" in "The Stand". I believe it was from the point of view of Stuart Redmond. Stuart talks about that feeling of 'going tharn' and how what he is feeling must have been what the author of "Watership Down" meant when he wrote it.
This man is a genius. Working in little stuff like the woodchuck is brilliant.
this book is AWESOME, im on page 670, and so far it's been amazing.
But, i don't like watching the drawings of the characters, cause i imagine them hell diferent... example: I imagine Barbie as Oded Ferh in the Resident Evil movie...
@redpaul79 yes dusting off the cobwebs I think so. Watership down is a fantastic movie especially the rabbit mythology and frith the sun god. I can see how the book would have influenced King. I'll get around to it one day.
@seonidh specifivally the bear Shardik in the Waste Lands--actually there's another Adams novel called Shardik, I believe--tho I've never read his stuff either....
@redpaul79 Shadik was the bear at the start of the book. yeah he was mad with worms in his brain or something like that. I'll have a look for the shardik novel as well i wasnt aware it was an Adams book either. Cheers.

I've read the book, took me two and half weeks. Enjoyed the characters.
Seems strange, that Stephen sounds clunky as he'd read the opening. Rennie Junior (was a?) sicko character.
