After watching the DVD I now have less respect for film critics than ever. This is a wolfman for the ages, stronger than ten men, huge teeth and claws, can leap to the ground from five stories up, run on all fours at 40 mph, and is physically absolutely terrifying, thanks to Rick Baker. The script is tight but nuanced, the back story is complex, the acting and the ambience are marvelous. I am mystified by the bad reviews - what more did the critics want? Ignore them and rent this movie.

If you're a werewolf fan you'll love this - it's amazing visually, some of the best transformation scenes since AAWIL and pretty good acting. The script and pacing is pretty weak though.

It's not a bad movie (especially as far as werewolf flicks go) but it's not as good as it could've been.
