I am glad that he mentioned college as an example. Being "alone in a crowd" was very comfortable for me - very anonymous and private, but connecting is tricky. It took me a long time to learn not to overdisclose when I would meet someone that I had small doses of intimate conversation with.
Very interesting information! I think though that people still have a tendency to label people too much and that is just not right. On the other hand he makes some good valid points. I just wish the extroverts would get over the fact that us introverts can't always stand being around extroverts because they are so darn intrusive and invasive. We need are down time in order to recharge. How I wish extroverts would just learn to accept what's what.
What a strange opening comment- the disclaimer about it not reflecting the lecturer's own life, and the tittering. Is this a funny subject, or is living in a state of loneliness something one would never admit in public?
@reddyandre if it doesn't reflect his own life then he is not speaking from experience and his take would therefore be strictly intellectual and of little use for sufferers of loneliness. Check out "Adyashanti - Aloneness and fear". Loneliness is a misunderstanding, a simple fear of being alone. Only one who is perfectly at ease in his aloneness can relate freely. Jesus spent 40 days in the desert. Today we get a twitter account to make sure that we are never alone.
what an insecure opening and lack of understanding, They should be embarassed and she might not want to public speak in this format.

@reddyandre Yeah, that was kinda immature and clumsy, the kind of thing you would expect from a cheap talk show.
