I don't find many people who draw and paint for a living, yet I find lots of people who've played an instrument at one point or another( myself included) or who are aspiring to be a singer. I don't think the type of hobby should matter, rather that the person has a passion for it.

I technically don't show my face, I read the contest rules carefully and I've abided by them, otherwise I wouldn't have gotten this far. As long as you don't show anyone's face or your own it's fine, it said nothing about a drawing rendition that's similar, other videos have renditions of faces too =P

Rather nice.  Though, unfortunately, if you want to be an animator anymore, it's better to know how to work programs like Maya. Hand-drawn animation, for the most part, has sadly gone the way of the dinosaurs.

Yeah, I realize traditional animation is very dead sadly, but I thought I'd try it just for fun. It's a neat medium. But I've always been more into the fine arts

Traditional Animation is indeed spiraling downwards, But as long as im alive i shall not let it hit rock bottom >:D , Its great great medium just as tran said, and theres sooo much you can do! If i have to learn 3D stuff i will, but I will never commit to it as much as 2D ...traditional all the way xD

I completely agree, 2D traditional, or even tradigital is great. That's why I'm looking forward the The Princess and the Frog, I'm hoping that it gets enough tickets sold that Disney realizes that people still appreciate the care and effort that is put into that kind of work.

2D Animation (2D characters e.g. stick figures) are rather dull but is great for drafting out ideas.

The next step would be to render the idea onto a 3D world. There's much more options with a computer but I believe in the traditional pencil and paper. I believe there's much more value in creating that illusion of depth on a piece of paper.
