  • @lexusnut1 I meant that the wireless card was not working before then he fixed it, but it did for a week or more after reseating it. video still working

  • @lexusnut1 the video is still working just fine, but the wireless is not working again and it was not working before either, I thought maybe I had a bad wireless card but after seeing this video I think I'm going to try this but I'm thinking maybe I should go ahead and try to replace the wireless card, but I just have a feeling that maybe this is what's wrong with mine and not the wireless card because it was working and why would it just stopped unexpectedly. thanks for the video

  • @lexusnut1 I have the same problem, I had someone to fix my computer which was only intended to be the monitor only because the hinge was frozen, but the video just stopped working after he was fixed it. I know that my computer has gotten hot just because it's an older model and I have been told that is been hot and they are known for getting hot, so he got it hot again and tapped the video card and wireless card and reseated them and they worked again.

  • You loose the port

  • I see you tapped into the usb port but does that disable it from use? or are you still able to use the port for other devices? how does that work?

  • Is there any type of documentation from HP stating this is a known issue?

  • On mine the USB plug was missing the plastic spacer and the pins were touching . Un-shorted the pins , put black tape over the hole and it all worked again. Even the other usb port worked now..

  • Just an FYI… this CAN be fixed…!! It is a motherboard issue & CAN be fixed… Its called reballing the GPU…

  • I had this problem and talk to a lot of people. You exactly said what the problem is the the simple solution. I did the same as you did except I have place the usb card inside the computer. Thanks, I thought I was the only one who had this problem.

  • have you tried to replace windows vista for windows 7 because that caust me the problem with wireless problem windows vista just sucks and that could be the problem it did help me realy to set windows 7 on it

  • I just soldered the wires to USB port and the card.

  • have same problem, i replace the wifi card and stll not working, any way, bought some usb wifi same one you have, now how do i run the wire to the usb port to encore, as i can see you have 3 wire, is it posible if you can make video on that one to, thank nice video

  • YOU COULD JUST PUT THE USB WIFI CARD INTO USB PORT. ITS LOTS SIMPLER!

  • Alright I'm pretty good with computers, but this is just ridiculous. I am not smart enough to try this solution.

  • thanks for the vid post. i have that exact same issue, how did you determine hardware failure on the motherboard side? how do you know the wifi is not disabled by some weird hp setting? or missing driver?

    awesome usb port hacking skills!

  • @superman1251 There are no settings. This is actually a problem with BGA on nvidia chip. It happens usually from overheating, but this is a known HP problem. Just so you know the problem with Video not working is from the same BGA. However Video is NOT fixable no matter what you do. There is no lasting repair, unless you reflow the nvidia chip.
