Penn makes a good reel called a Siragosa. You should get the 5 or 6000 size. Our tackle store called Total Tackle .com will have these productons on our launch date September 1st 2010

You are right on the Stella 6000 but the rod is a Cape Fear. We used 65 pound Sufix hi vis yellow braid.

I've caught a bull red that big. It kept going under the boat and it was a really shallow duck pond so yeah it was a pain in the ass. (i'm in middle school too ;o)
