I think I'll never understand this whole issue of Christian punk bands. Not supossed that punk is an expression of the counterculture, (very devalued today, by the way) and as such, question and not to encourage the belief sumicion models created for control of the men, such as is the Christian dogma. Do not get me wrong, I say this with respect for the espituales beliefs that each person is entitled to have. But I find a contradiction here. I would like a sensible comment.

@xavibrit Hey man. I'm a Christian punk and this is how I see it. First, the bible says to be in the world not of the world. The fact that nationalism in American has been intertwined with a gospel that is for all nations is something to rebel against. Jesus teaches us to look out for the marginalized and for me that is what punk rock is all about. I didn't want to be part of the Christian crowd at school because they were so judgmental of kids from broken homes.

@xavibrit The other thing I was going to say was that Jesus fought against the religious authority when they were taking advantage of the poor. The reason he overturned the money tables in the temple was that the poor were being taken advantage of. So much of Christianity today is about legalism, and the punk scene was always a place where I could be myself and not find as much judgment. Dr. martin Luther King Jr. used the bible to support civil disobedience as well, and I agree.

As long as jesus is not all they talk about, which I don't think any bands do that. They say punk = anti- establishment. I say, since when has Jesus been establishment, he was an individual. Some people treat Ian MacKaye as a god. I think punk is doing whatever the hell you want, and if that means being christian, then that is cool :) Christian punk is awesome.
