  • these dogs are great!!! a big woof from my blue heeler!

  • Comment removed

  • Hi we had a blue heeler for 21 years her name was Matilda. Makes me sad had to put her down back issues.

  • Absolutely love this video and song. A friend sent me a Smiley Box video of her dogs and that music was playing in the background. I took a leap and thought I might find it on U Tube and voila, here it is!!! Is that on a CD with other heeler songs or just other songs by Mary Ann Kennedy? I want it! Thanks for posting. This is my first time on U tube. It's great to be able to comment and read comments about the videos! yahoo.

  • Beautfuly done. Love the words and music Anyone who has ever had a Heeler understands. Sadly I recently lost my Red (Chooey) I had her from puppyhood to 12 years. She was definetly the smartest dog I've ever had and I've had Aussies and german shepards and lots in between. She was loyal sweet, fiercly protective and NEVER ran out of energy. Please in her honor watch my tribute to her at 420Chooey. Thank you.

  • I have a blue heeler/chow mix and she is BY FAR the best dog I have ever had. She's my baby :)

  • all the dogs in the video are cross breds, mostly crossed with kelpie by the looks...pure heelers have a smaller snout, naturally pricked ears and a lot less patching

  • I Love blue heelers, have two my self! my one thats all he loves to do is work the cattle, but if you take him away from them hes all over the horses! he is the meaneat looking dog i now and is not even 1 years old yet and is huge, but he has a heart like no other! he is also taught in both english and cree, best damn dog i know!

  • HAHAHA!! Great dogs and song!!! :-)

  • im suprised to see so many americans owning blue heelers :)

  • Like your vid.

We lost our Red last Monday. Very sad, she was with us for 10 years, and picked us back then. A wonderful companion. We are looking for another. B.A. Colorado front range.

  • Thanks for uploading this video, your Reds look like mine with the Bentley mark on them, they are the most loyal dog in my opinion ever, & the best I ever had was a legend, King Red Leo-he lived for almost 16 yrs and lived on each coast and in between, smartest breed, besides a Siberian Husky!!

  • they always look like their smiling.. great dogs..

  • Where did you get Cheyenne?

  • Such is the life of the working dog! I like your pictures.

  • ive got to ask. where did you find this song? a have 4 ACD and 2 are blues, 1 red and 1 choco

  • Gorgeous cattle dogs! Heelers are THE coolest dogs in the world imo. Loyal, compassionate, intelligent, and ALL hustle. Mine is a red heeler/pharoah hound mix and she's SO smart and awesome. Long live the heelers!!!

  • The blue reminds me of mine. Same color almost too.&i read in a comment her name was Cheyenne, same as mine.they even look like they have the same personality.Just that mine doesnt have a tail and Im afraid of what her future is looking like. She was an abused puppy which really doesnt affect her personality anymore but she has seizures, we think its because of head trauma :( she's only 3. But as with any rescue give them the best life you can while you have the chance. Great song and nice pics.

  • This is like my favorite video on YouTube

    <3

  • love that song!!! :)

  • @ifishfortarpon So sorry. Mine too. He had blood cancer and a big tumor.

  • I dont have an issue with the reds. In fact, that is what I have now. In the video, the Blue female, Cheyenne, passed away in 2009 and the other two females stayed with my ex after the divorce. My lil red female is all heart, all brains and zero quit.

  • What's wrong iwth Reds?? I have one and have had Blues in the past. My Red Heeler is male and a larger stronger dog. He is amazingly smart, and can go all day at whatever endeavor we choose. The only drawback to him I see is he doesn't much care for other male dogs. And whatever it is, he'll die trying.

  • thanks for sharing...we have a wonderful 7 y.o. cow dog named Bishop (adopted him when he was 2 y.o.) and had never even heard of the breed before...he's the best dog I ever had and just love him more than anything...we go hiking for hours and hours and he never gets tired or runs out of energy or enthusiasm!

  • beautiful dogs. who cares if they are red or blue...inside they are all amazing, loyal, smart, and hard working dogs. i myself find red heelers stunning!

  • 0:32 my parents think I took picture of dog of ours, he's blue heeler mix with the Labrador, it's same like on the pic-original and he has blue collar ! :D

  • Love your dogs... :)

  • We were very sad to have to adopt ours out. We couldn't provide her a proper home. I would run her 2 miles and she was ready to go after 20 minutes some more. We were very happy she found a home on a ranch. Smartest dog I have ever been around.

  • Stock dogs need a job to do, so if you do not have stock for them to work, they often will make a job out of chasing balls or anything else they can get to move! lol They are loyal, can be very protective of their family unit and sensitive to their owners needs and moods. As with any breed, encourage good behavior and positive habits and above all else, give them something consturctive to do or they will find ways to entertain themselves. The library is a good source of info too. Good luck!

  • @whisperingpinesEQ adorable dogs vid and song =) i <3 my heeler!

  • @whisperingpinesEQ I tried downloading this song on mp3 rocket =/ nothing came up

  • @whisperingpinesEQ haha thats why my sisters red heeler likes to move rocks

  • May I ask a question? I have a blue heeler/ cattle dog mix that adopted me five years ago. Are there special charcteristics, or traits, of behavior i should look for or encourage. She also seems very loyal, exclusively to me. Is that a normal feature of healers? (This is my first dog, so every day is a fascination to me.)

  • @CaptainMacNasty

She adopted you? It was some other breed in the mix. Heelers take months and months and maybe never to accept a new person.

I agreed to look after a heeler for a couple of months, then a couple of years, for a friend who wanted to take new training. When she came for a visit and left on the bus, he would plant himself at the bus stop for at least an hour, staring where she'd gone, even though he had a lovely life with me. 11 years later, all mine, he died, 20 yr old.

  • @margot980 - Yes, you're right...she's got maybe boarder collie mixed in with the heeler part. Apparently, she had been mistreated early on, so she would never approach strangers, especially males, or even look people in the eye...but for some reason she approached me on the first day, so she picked me i guess. So, now it's my duty to make sure she has a happy life. I hope she lives to be 20, since she about 10 now I guess...not sure.

  • @margot980 I call BS on them taking months and months to accept a new person. I have both a red and a blue heeler which were both adopted, and both of them accepted me almost immediately as the master. I think it took a week for my red and just a couple of days for my blue. It's all about training and expressing your authority, as these dogs require somebody to be in charge.

I don't prefer either as I think their both great in their own ways, but I will always get a heeler from now on.

  • My dog is half cattle dog and half aussie, so its been a real adventure having such an active dog. She's super smart too. I don't think we'll ever get another breed.

  • luv this i love those kind ov dogs!!!! this song is cool to!!!!

  • The writer of this song sure does know their ACD!

  • I have my Blue Heeler for 2 months now...rescued her from The Mayo spca....we are best buds :) She is 2. Called her Queenie....its like she has always been here. She is my first Blue Heeler....love this dog...great personality, happy doggy :) Happy owner

  • I love Heelers!!!!!

  • Well done! I have a deaf white ACD and she's the best dog that has ever owned me!

  • @broadpath HAVE YOU HEARD THE "BITCHY BARK" YET?????

  • What a great song! Thanks for posting!

  • I have 2 blue/red mix heelers ... best of both breeds in one dog

  • Love the dogs! I own a blue heeler and she is something else! But no matter how much she frustrates me, she is a keeper. Thanks for sharing.

  • its so hard understanding that american yawl, anyway its great that u picked an aussie dog

  • can i have one ????please lol

  • @ifishfortarpon This video actually have 2 blues and a red...I currently have a red and she was not my first choice, but she chose me. Cant go wrong with a dog who chooses you, no matter the color...but yes, my color of choice is the blue.

  • sorry to burst ur bubble or ur singers bubble, acd's had dingo bred into 'em to stop them barking as they heeled cattle.......the only dog to have, living in australia, cattledogs and kelpies are part of our culture

  • @beetle1835 If you listen to the lyric "they dont have dingo in their blood..." the artist is refering to the Australian Shepherd, not the ACD, which do indeed have dingo.

  • blue heeler. they get their colour from the dalmation, born spotty just like em. combo of two other dogs also, the kelpy and dingo.

  • @smokeybirdman Isnt that an interesting combo to get such a great breed?

  • @whisperingpinesEQ Indeed!....In the 70's as a kid the red cattle was heaps popular here in oz, its a combo of dingo and kelpy. It doesnt bark as much as bluey and its a little more agro snappen at heals :)...its my choice of the 2. But bluey is definately a better family dog.

  • @smokeybirdman I lost my old blue female last year after 13 years. I was chosen by a red female last fall and she is salty! I just adore her...lil monster;)

  • @whisperingpinesEQ she looks like a blue heeler, they sometimes come in the red colouring coz of the dingo. A pure red cattle doesnt have dalmation in it. Sorry bout your dog I lost mine after years of companionship...miss her :(

  • who sings the song?

  • @colmike460 MaryAnn Kennedy is the artist. The cd is great...so great that I wore the first one out and went back for another.

  • @whisperingpinesEQ Awesome, thanks! i have heard of it before but didnt know her name, and couldnt find it on the web....

youve had a lot of heelers huh? i just got my first. hes a red one, 3months old right now and already impressing everyone with how quick he learns

  • pois é todo mundo pensou como eu, o título desta extraaordinaria canção ,muito linda, mas assim linda ,linda,e tem tudo a ver com os slides mostrados video gostoso de assistir, gostei,

  • what kind of dog is the one at 3:34 ???

  • @elchingondedurango12 I believe at 3:34 it's Cheyenne, my old Blue female who passed away in April 2009. The big Red female is a stump tail and the other female was a blue with a whole bunch of red...go figure out of two blue parents. I currently have a red female pup, but dont have pics of her up here.

  • what the title of this song ?

  • what is the title of this song ?

  • bonitos perros beatiful dogs monterrey nl mex.

  • great song!!!!

  • your bluey has the exact same facial markings as our old blue heeler.. :) gorgeous.

  • i dont like red heelers i have a blue heelers

  • i just got one of these dogs!!

  • Love this song :)

  • Seems like there is no limit to what you can teach this breed. Smart doggies! :D

  • best dogs of the world. =)

  • the pic at 1:54 made me laugh :) v. cute

  • my girlfriend has an airadale and i have 2 heelers they heard him around like he was a sheep its funny

  • This song is Awesome.Bludo, Bailey and Dozer and(my Blue heelers)and Sidney a mix love it too

  • I have a Blue Heeler & his name is Sebastian! A.K.A "Bambi". When he get's excited he pounce's in the air like a deer. He is very smart compared to other dogs his age but he is quite the coward. Bastian good boy!!!! Blue Heeler's rule!!!

  • 0:39 FATASS

  • @MrLukeeduke I think I will consider the source there......

  • Makes me miss Argos, my old red heeler who passed on just a month ago. Few dogs can smile like a heeler.

  • @Stiletos I'm sorry for you loss. My blue female, Cheyenne, who is in this video, passed away last year. There is still an ache in my heart.

  • @whisperingpinesEQ i lost my blue heeler in April he was the best dog ever his name was milo lol

  • enybody know that a blue heeler is the make of dog in the film "madmax" ?

  • @gewizz2 they just call him Dog. I was going to name my Blue Heeler after it but when I heard it was just Dog, I decided to find a different name :)

  • @AislingRoisin oh yeah, he is called "dog" in madmax.

u should have just reversed the name 4 ur blue heeler. : )

  • i love puppies

  • Probably true sephiroth7655...since she has since passed away.

  • My heelers cuter than yours

  • i have a blue healer named aussie :)

  • Nice it's true about the heart is soft and the head is tough. I ve had Samoyeds, German Shephards and various Terrier types. Also 4 cattle dogs and a Kelpie. Their is definatley something about the Cattle dog though. Do you guys have Kelpies over there ? They have more energy than the Cattle dog not as forceful with the stock too

  • love the music. Who is it?

  • "Blue Heeler" by Mary Ann Kennedy

  • sorry but they have dingo, blue healers & Kelpies have a bit of dingo, that`s not bad it`s great!

  • The dingo gives the Heeler it's "heart"...great dogs;)

  • @onaspook the line, "dont have dingo in their blood" was refering to the Australian Shepherd, not the heeler

  • my heeler looks just like your one with the stubby tail as a puppy! scary almost! he has a short tail as well...cheers!

  • they look awesome, im on my third blue now. kenna, was the first she went wild, and bit the realastate agent law got her, her kid , pure, punchy, got ran over , i was sick for a month, and now the newest, JET, SHES

  • I have 3 Heelers, 2 blue & 1 red. They are the best! One of my blue girls is blind, yet she is still a little work horse. Love the slide show!

  • I love your Blue Heeler!! Your slide show is cute too.

  • im considering getting a blue heeler, but i had one BIG concern if anyone has an answer id appreciate it

im very active outdoors, one of my favorite activities is long bike trips, can i bike ride with a blue heeler or is he going to constantly nip at the bike tires, due to his herding instincts.

will he run along side the bike or will he run straight for the tires which would probably either cause me to fall over or the dog to get run over

can anyone help me with this question

  • Well, as with any breed of dog, they will do what you allow them to do or what you teach them to do. I have had Heelers for over 20 years and I have NEVER had one attempt to chase bikes or cars, although I have seen other's do it. Heelers require attention, patience and a job...even if you are not using the dog to herd, they need a job...and that job could be biking with you. Your dog will only be as good as you help him/her to be...good luck out there!

  • they're perfect for this! just get him around the bike and show him that when u ride he follows. they can go all dAY! best dog breed out there

  • @mattgeb84 My dog Jake's job was running with me on a bicycle and we did it daily in Maine, rain or snow. He was incredible. He died yesterday. He had a seizure that wouldn't stop. After 30 minutes they have brain damage and he went way past that and we had to stop trying. Jake was 50% border collie, 25% red heeler and 25% australian shepard. He was 15 months old. I had to keep after him. It took a long time and he still wanted to bite tires and he did flip me once but he came around. I

  • @mattgeb84 I hope you are getting this. When Jake was a pup I had him at work and a co-worker was out on a parking lot on a bike with Jake and I did not realize he was letting Jake chase him and bite tires. Before that there was no problem. By all means get a heeler - they are incredible athletes. Perhaps this incident when he was a pup got him started. I am looking for a heeler pup and we will pick it right back up and right away I will not give him a chance to bite - just get off the bike.

  • @mattgeb84 Mine runs just behind me on my bike, as though she is herding me. It's her natural place. I'm on a quiet, private road though. Wouldn't take her where there is any traffic, leash or no. We're good together on the bike with a leash, but I'd hate to be pulled off in front of a car due to SQUIRREL. Wouldn't do that with any dog but that's just me. Very lucky to live in the middle of no where, then just a bit past.

  • @m1t2a1 jajajaja so does mine since pup! i like to take him to a park... though he started nipping my toes he wanted to herd me - but we are working that out- , now he likes to herd my rottweiler ....

  • I have a 4 month old Red Heeler named DUFFY...he is the best

  • Love the song!

    Nice pics to.

  • I Had A Blue Heeler Male and I Named Him "Woofey". He Was a Good Dog For Me And Very Protective But To Aggressive. I Miss Him and The Fun We Had. They Are Great Dogs.

  • another great australian product...aussie,aussie,aussie....oi,oi,oi !!!

  • You did awesome on the music video. My blue is such a great part of the family. He's my ADHD kid. The energizer bunny has nothing on him! Cheers!

  • Mary Ann Kennedy sings the song.

  • does anybody know who sings the song??

  • You have some beautiful Heelers! We have one and we just love him! He is the smartest dog I have ever seen! I can't to get another one.... I love the song too..who does it?

  • I have one...amazing dogs...

  • A wonderful wise old blue girl named Sheila brought me to you. What a treat!

  • I've got two of them now. A red one and a blue one. DD and Flint. Great dogs. Flints a little younger then DD, but he's learning. I'm doing the whole alpha boot camp deal right now. It was easier with DD because she's a great dog anyway, but Flints got a stubbornness to him, that's for sure.

  • My wife and I just adopted the result of an... uhm... teenage love affair shall we say :) between a Blue Heeler female and a Bluetick Coonhound male... Never knew much about this breed until this new addition, but now that I have been looking into the breed, their SO GORGEOUS! Love the intelligence and personality, too! God only knows what our pup will look like, but whatever it is, its gonna be cute as all get out:) I don't think his ears will stand up though - and he might howl lol!

  • ......and they are ohhh so inteligent!

  • I didnt know that our aussie blue & red heelers were in america lol.

I hope they keep the dog true to its breed over their and not change it like what they did to the staffordshire bullterrier..they altered the staffy and call it Amstaff & pittbulls. Even the american rottweiler has been changed a little/meaner temperment.

Blue/Red heelers are our national dog. They have a beautiful temperment & nature. They are very loyal and fiercly protective of their human family.

    Great dogs!

  • Don't even get me started.... you should see what passes for a German Shepherd...

  • those dogs look so happy! Thanks ffor sharing the video. WHo does this song?

  • I just got one last night. She's a year old and was abused. Ill give her a good home. Named her Zoey.

  • cool video i have a blue heeler named jack he was my 16 birthday present i love him i have some vids of him on my page i wont this song but i cant find it so can any one send me a link to this song ?

  • Thanks,

I really enjoyed your video. My wife and I have two of them, Red( Cowboy Jake) and a Blue(Loki Dog). Wouldn't trade em for the world. Both adopted out of rescues. Best companions ever hands down.

    Eric

  • Thanks Eric! I lost my old blue female (who is in this video with me). She passed away in April. I just got a new red pup about 6 weeks ago and am working on posting a video of her. Enjoy your heelers...they are AMAZING dogs!

  • hey what do you feed them and how does it affect them i have two red heelers and i want to know you recomendation on dog food that makes their poo easier to clean and makes them do it less get's expensive spending hundreds of dollars on food when it goes right hrough them

  • @richiefrickenrich

The breeder I got my heeler from used Nutra Nuggets from Costco. I like Nutro Brand Natural Chicken and Rice cause my other dog has sensitive skin. Just dont buy Peidgree or Old Roy type food.

  • I feel like mad max when i have a blue heeler

  • I know what you mean!:)

  • hehe yeah XD

  • What are the mixes of your dogs? We've a Aus Cattle mix which looks exactly like your brown heeler.

  • Believe it or not, all three dogs were full stock...two blue heelers and one red heeler (who was born with a stump tail)

  • If it was born with a stumpy tail, it is probly a australian stumpy tail or at least was mixed with a stumpy tail. Pretty much the same just born with a stumpy tail and they are not as stocky as cattle dogs are. Also both have been known to be called heelers. Just not as popular.

  • Great Dogs, Great song!!!!!

My HeelerX, Hudson will be a father in less than 2 weeks......the mother is a Red Heeler ~ the pups will most likely look like your dogs :) We are sooooo excited!!!

  • Best of luck with the puppies;) Enjoy!

  • I have a red heeler, best dog ever.!

  • Love the pics and the song! We just got our 3rd heeler yesterday...a red! We got our first one 14 years ago and fell in love with the breed. She's still with us and will always be that dog that we'll never be able to match. They are the best....although not appropriate for everyone! There is no other breed with a heart like this one. Thanks for sharing:)

  • I have a Blue heeler Dingo mix, he has no brown at all on him and his name is Mr. Jack

  • This is best video EVER!

  • Does anyone else have a Blue Heeler that drinks coffee? I do ,if you leave your cup sitting where Sugar can get it she will suck it right down.

  • lol I just posted a video of my parent's dog who just died recently, but in the video she gets a latte at a coffee stand, then laps it up.

  • The only thing better than a Heeler is a Heeler in a hard-working, loving home. Hooray!

  • my blue heeler is a light color like almost gray look cus the blue and white are mixed is that nomrel for the heeler breed ? Please comment my vid cus i have vids of him on my page

  • wow. big horse ! :O

  • My bluey isn't a working doggy, but is sweet and cute

I rescued her from the previous owner, who left the bluey home alone with a grouchy husky/wolf, that tore up the blueys face.

The blueys face healed good but the eye is still red and droopy.

  • got a workining male blue named goose he's my best friend we run cows hike go everywere together i trust goose moore than i do most ppl

  • the red ones are called "red heelers"

  • The song "Blue Heeler" is by Mary Ann Kennedy. Most of her songs are about horses. She's really good.

  • Unfortunately, instinct will only get your dog so far...mostly injured without the proper amount of training to work stock. Most of them are so willing that training is rather enjoyable. Dont just turn her loose and expect her to know it all...she'll get in there, but it may be the wrong place at the right time. Best of luck!

  • i have a 5 month old blue heeler named rogan and a 2 month old german shorthaired pointer. when rogan gets older and i take her to a friends cow farm will instinct tell her what to do for the most part?

  • if you let your dog chase my familys livliehood around the paddok ill kill you both asshole

  • u talkin to me?

  • Such violence behind the keyboard. We all tremble with fright.

*Takes sip of coffee, yawns and moves on to people that have brains and proofreads their comments*

  • they like to play !

  • What a beautiful video. Your dogs are gorgeous. What a great life!! Also, what's this song? I've never heard it before, and it's awesome!

  • Your dogs are beautiful. Thanks for sharing the great photos.

  • What Song is this

  • I have two heeler mixes. I love ACD's. I love this song. Too cute.

  • heelers are the best dogs

  • im sending a video response

  • Why does the song say:"They don't have DINGO in their blood", when I

  • it was in reference to the australian shepherd.

  • Beacuse heelers desend from dingos like german sheperds decand from wolves other aussies dont

  • that dog looks like he is in a gang lol always holding up his head

  • Cool song, great breed.

  • ok so they're working dogs, i really want one, but i'm not sure what kind of "job" to give the dog. any suggestions?

  • They are Australlian cattle dogs. Shephard dogs are some of the best to own. You cant go wrong with them.

  • have them pull a wagon, walk on heel, teach them lots of tricks (I got mine to jump on my back) Have them fetch..get them a backpack for their walks

  • When people say give them a job, that just means keep them busy! Exercise is a MUST when it comes to working dogs. They need waaaay more then just a walk everyday.

  • Perfect- My little hard headed ACD wanted to jump in my lap while i listened to this tune.

  • I've had Heelers, mostly the Reds, since 1992 and the best one I had was King Red Leo, he is a legend and I was lucky enough to know him for 15 1/2 yrs till he passed away in my arms-he will always be my little king. Google his name and visit his site to view his wonderful life-I'll never share my life with another breed!

  • My husband and I are on our second set of Heelers -- his is blue; mine is red. They are so very smart and the females much more so. My red goes to school with me and sits in a student desk while I teach.

  • Heelers are affectionate, loyal, dedicated and extremely protective of their people. As with any dog, you get out of them what you put into them. Obedience training, socialization & time well spent with your dog is what builds that bond. Remember that Heelers are working dogs and if they are without a "job", they will find ways to entertain themselves that are not always positive. I have had this breed for over 20 years and am in love with them! Make wise, educated decisions & good luck!

  • Are blue heelers affectionate? I've wanted one for years and recently, I really want a dog I can take out to play disc with. Also, do they get along with other dogs all right? I've done plenty of research but first hand experiences are always the best.

  • yess very much so. My two heelers love other dogs and They are the snuggle like no tomorrow.. GREAT dogs!

  • well, the dog at 0:32 and 1:02 (which I think is the same dog) does not look at all like a full bred Red Heeler.
