What most of you don't realize is that A bus can "EXPLODE" because of the air pressure inside of the bus.. For those that aren't but drivers you wouldn't know that and feel that he was being forceful but in fact it save lives. So before go off on this guy remember that what the women was doing is like putting an open flame over GAS.. so he had every single right to protect the bus and the people on the bus and he didn't punch her she was grabbing on to his shirt and he go her off.

The driver took that way too far. She more than likely had something wrong up in her head. I smoke too and think the laws regarding smoking have went too far with taking away the rights of property owners but even though I have no respect for these laws I would not have done that because if the BIG DEAL everyone would have made and I'm not alone with this opinion but what she did just seems like she was mental somehow, like she was mindless to what she was doing.The punch was too far.

I cannot clearly see him hitting her in the video after she is off the bus. You see what you want to. I am from Brooklyn, and this is not a race issue. Nor are these things that unusual, there are lot of troublemakers (of all ages, colors and types) on the bus who break the rules but they usually ride at night. As for the police doing it nicer....probably not. Here in Newark the AfAm busdrivers throw (less forcefully) elderly AfAm passengers off all the time! And no one is suspended.

I don't condone driver's actions. However, New Yorkers need to take more individual responsibility in making NYC a better place to live. In these day-to-day quality of life issues, many NYers provide obstacle to better service. There were many cases in the December 26/27 blizzard when people took cars and other vehicles out on the street for unneeded travel which delayed getting help to urgent cases. Other passengers on this bus should have assisted driver rather than sitting and "tsking".
