I was looking for an exercise machine that would help me keep in shape and tone my body. The 1100 fits the bill just right. Cost was under

Just been given a total gym 1000 in mint condition I'm 53 years old hope it ain't to late for me to tone up & get fitter than I am now which is not fit...... ?
I'm not normally that kind of person who goes to the gym but I happened to cross this video and this is a great video. I love the music. Call me insane but I'm dancing to the music! Well, on the bright side; listening to music while doing exercises is relaxing for your body, I reckon.
@dd6500 This with a combination of a better diet and cardio. Jogging/running or whatever cardio is FAR more important to the idea of "six-pack abs" and low body fat. The absolute ONLY WAY to trim down fat in all areas is to burn more calories than you take in. It's impossible otherwise. This takes a long time too truly commit, but it's the truth
Anyone know where I can find a description of the exercises on the card deck? I bought a used XL (almost new), but it doesn't have the card deck. Husband and I are trying to do the 6-8 min workout routines downloaded from the Total Gym site, but don't know what some of the exercises are. We have the exercise chart/poster, but that's it.
Great video. If anyone is concerned about weight resistance its 60% of your weight @ highest incline. Do 60% of your body weight with one arm or leg, very hard. Just use one leg on your leg workouts if its too easy for better results. People that are very strong just don't bother, to just do the upper body exercises with one hand like using dumbbells.
It works well. If you're concerned about your weight not being enough weight for the workouts (which it is not, especially for pull ups), it comes with a bar that goes through the bottom of the bench and you can attach weights to that. Now THAT makes a difference.
im pretty sure itll work its just your never using any more weight than your body weight. i mean thats still alot of weight if you isolate your muscles. its just you could get stronger using like weights. then again gymnasts are amazingly strong and all they ever do is body weight so idk
You'll get strength with a low impact and get more of a rock climbers build, so muscles lean not bulky. I go 30 minutes non stop which I think is a big part also.
I bought one of the first one's to come on the market. Personally I think it's a great piece of exercise equipment for the money. You can work every muscle in ton's of ways with it. Now I just need to get back to using it....LOL. Which is why I'm here. Lost my exercise book that came with it, so I'm checking out the video's to find the ones I need to do. If ur thinking of buying one, U won't B sorry.
Yeah no doubt ive had my total gym for about 5 weeks and im already seeing changes in my abs and biceps and triceps ... do a forward workout then turn around and work your back muscles then move to ab crunches with the foot holders on the bottom .. its fucking awesomeee
I bought the total gym a few week ago and i must say i'm loving it. i be feeling sore just using this amazing machine.. i highly recommended the total gym. it awesome
Not too mention i can throw 120 pound punches now as fast as regular ones from using this...I took my friend who is training for MMA fighting and had Him try the punches and he could barely manage and he works out wayyyyyy more than I do, and he's the same size as me. Whats that tell ya..This machine builds real strength and is not a joke at all. Grow a pair and buy one now.
I bought and Love it Paid $400 dollars which would be 2 years at a gym, and I'll tell you I used to work out at the gym all the time and still my bench and my chest barely improve....I went from benching 140-240 in a matter of 6 months just from the total gym...and they left the best move out of this vid, Iron crosses will rip your chest up faster than anything...LOVE IT!!!!!!! I've come up with so many workouts on this machine I'll Never ever go to the gym again
Just bought the TG 3000, can't wait to get it. My buddy's been telling me to do so since '98. He swears by it and has had fantastic results. He says the wing attachment is the best add on. Yo Adrian, I bought it!!!!!
Can I give you all a little insight before you buy this product tho??? Let someone else pay full price and buy the higher end Totalgym second hand! You'll save 50% at least, or close to it! Rick, vancouver, bc
@ellonysman i agree i got mine for free i dont think its the high end version. its the basic blue one with the foot rack thing and the handlebars. Helped a friend move and he gave it to me for free! best gift ever.
Love my total gym. Dropped over 60 pounds using it I use it every single day without skipping a day. Wake up, do 20 minutes of stretching, 1800 crunches on an exercise ball, and then 45 minutes of a continuous workout on the total gym.
I've done everything, free weights, thousands of push ups and I personally think the total gym isn't that great to use all the time, but if you switch up workouts and use it every so often, you can really feel it. It's not something I would use every single day though, maybe use it for a week, switch to free weights, then running, etc. I've owned one for over 3 years now, anyone else have a decent opinion?
It's a good for the alternate days from the gym, just to get the blood flowing. Gives a great pump without overloading. I avoid the chest pullover as i dont want that barrel chest look.
@KingNuada1 I'm with ya on the variety thing. I have the Bayou Fitness Total Trainer, but still do a day of Army PT or jog on a treadmill or whatever. I dabble in freeweights too, mainly for biceps, and maybe shoulders. Watching different moves on youtube gets me pumped about working out, gives me new ideas.
why is it that they never show how to set up for the exercise? I mean try sitting on that pad, facing away from the pulleys, and try to get hold of the handles. I pulled a damn muscle just trying to get started.
wow, i have one of these and i have thought up of 26 workouts so far.....this is pretty good for the house when you don't feel like going to the gym........
I bought a total gym back when I was trying to get into the Marine Corps... it definitely works! my pull ups went from 3 to 12.. no sh1t. Now IM out of the corps and im about to go buy another!
My family had a total gym shoved back in the crawl space forever and i got it out because i didnt want to pay for the gym anymore. From what ive seen and done so far it really works. I get a nice burn doing all the workouts and you can work the chest, back and shoulders like no other on this machine. Ive also noticed you work the forearm doing any workout that uses the cables.
Hi Briana, that is the GTS unit made by EFI, the original TotalGym company. EFI makes the heavy-duty models for serious use. You can call 800-541-4900 x233 if you have any questions.

I really like my Total Gym, and this video showed me many more upper body exercises I can perform, but it's limited with lower body exercises. That's really the only thing that I don't like about my Total Gym. It doesn't have the kind of rope / pulley system that the Pilates machine has.

When it's delivered, i'm gonna use all of this machine's potential to grow me some muscles again
