i remember running to the comic store every month or bi weekly whenever the next mcfarlane spidey was out, just to see his version of my fav spidey villains .
@reekinopiss Spawn is seriously out of date and uncool. It was cult for a short while between 1995-1998, then after no one gave a shit about it. Some things like Transformers and Thundercats resurface as 'cult' yeaarrs after they've finished. Spawn enjoyed a brief period of being 'cult' simply because of how cool the toys looked & the violence. The story in comparison to alot of others wasn't anything different from conventional comics though.
WHAT? Well, I guess, TO each his own, but NEVER is Spawn out of date. You state 1995-98, which is INCORRECT, as he was number 1 selling from 92 when it debuted for a while. And it has evolved in so many ways since it came out. Al is now dead and a New Spawn has taken the helm. Maybe you should read up. And dont just say cliche things about stuff just to fit in
HA HA! that bit where he accidentally said spawn when he was talking about spider-man was gold! goes a long way to explaining where he got his inspiration i think.
Thank you Blunty! McFarlane is a big hero of mine and one the reason i'm studying the field i am now. His work as an attest is inspiring. In pen, words or models, his amazing.
oh so what you're saying, deepspace, is that you care about how you're judged by the rest of society (even for one day) and pretty much forgot how to let loose being surrounded by people with the same interests as you who are still a kid at heart... maybe you should be change your lifestyle and be a "gangsta thug" lol
"Loyal subscriber" or not, you're being an ass. If you can't respect that other people find enjoyment in other ways than you, fine whatever, but don't come to my comments sections and berate my OTHER "loyal subscribers" for simply enjoying cosplay. I have zero problem with blocking people, subscriber or not, for idiotic trolling, I do it often. And I don't often warn, so take the hint.
Please tell me that you are simply just a ballsy SOB(no offense) that likes to talk. If so, you're forgiven, if not, realize few care for your opinion. Oh and good evening Mr. Blunty, thank you for putting this up, I'm a big Mcfarlane fan.
I know it's not my place to stick my nose in where it doesn't belong, but for some 'loyal subscriber' you've must not seen some of Blunty's recent rant videos.
Does he care that he may lose one subscriber out 50,000+ subscribers? Isn't it obvious? Besides, what are you going to do if he does? Bitch about it? More power to ya, I guess.
You havent blocked me yet! 2 year subscriber. And when you did that video on an xbox...i had to get one. When you did the lego one...i went and got a lego bike and now im back into legos..ugh...
But i like your gadget and toy reviews, u give the full opinion and not just the plus points.
...not to mention that people you are afraid will see you and laugh at you are probably people you will only see for 2 minutes and never see again for the rest of your life, thus will never effect either of your lives after the fact
Sweet Blunty, so so so very Sweet, Todd literally UPDATED Spiderman, from that on everybody adopted his changes at some level, in Marvel Super Heroes Fighting Series, that's not a generic Spider-Man you get to play with, thats TODD's Spidey, with the big eyes and the mad poses.
His action figures Empire... phew, It's donne pretty much EVERYTHING there's to be donne on the area, from his roots in Spawn all the way to Final Fantasy and beyond
Anyway, love the interviews, Blunty, keep it up for the sake of pop culture everywhere! PS Good job not letting the people who call u a geek get to you, they're not worth a reply :P
@Blunty3000 Yo Blunty, you ever thought about taking up acting? You could replace Robert Downey Jr. for our favorite red and gold armored superhero if it comes to that. . . .
Yeh, like you arent probably a 40 year old living in his mother's shed with shelves full of comics lying without a speck of dust on a shelf, mario00spoofs whatever.
Just because someone likes something different to you... what's your preference, Barbies and Lego City with a topping of Bones? Cop on to yourself.
well I met Todd in SD ComicCon 89 and when I asked if he would do a quick version of the punisher fo rme in my sketch pad (yes I was 16 and was a Pun freak) he quickl doddled a tall skinny shull for me...gee thanks Todd. where as Mr Matt Wagner took a good ten minuets outa his day to draw me up not only a kewl verison of the Punihser he also added a Batman and Grendal to the sketch I admire Todd for his drawing talent and for makin a stand against the big boys but man is he ever full of himself

Blunty Blunty, Release the where abouts of your evil twin brother that performs in your rants. Your hair isnt so gray in the interview videos. Is Just For Men in your beauty supply carry on bag for trips to these conventions you go to? Xp
Thanx for this cool interview, i enjoy everything comics.
You should have told me you were interviewing Todd McFarlane. That way you could get my Spawn Issue #1 original print comic signed for me. I always miss him when he is in Vancouver.
Okay, sorry, I'm usually sensible enough to resist this kind of whinging and whining in the comments, and do appreciate you probably don't want to hear it.
But, you know, "reality check".
Anyway, yeah, sorry, I'll now shut up and watch the rest of the interview, which I'm sure will be good and is appreciated and so on.
Yeah, I dunno about "the most" influential, but the mass exodus and the art and stories in Spawn were a pretty big deal. And he helped put Marvel and DC in their place, so to speak.
Yes bigfaggykitty, it is in fact Christian Bale, that is why the video title, information text, his lower third identifier all say "Todd McFarlane", and why I myself, introduce him Todd McFarlane.... it's all a big trick, but you caught us, well done. *headdesk*
McFarlane! WOW! And he touched your shoulder! WOW!!!!!1!
I adore his art since he did the Hulk (Joe Fixit was my favorite Hulk), and when he made Spidey it was friggin GREAT! That first panel when Venom appeared to scare MJ is unforgettable!
...but I quit collecting Spawn right after that movie. The book was so great in the beginning, Spawn #10 was such a great satire on the whole comic business... and then they made that horrible movie and ruined everything.
Why should a movie have any influence on the comics? Did the movie people take over the comic? I'm sorry, but your reasoning seems unsound. It would be like if I stopped reading the Harry Potter books because the first movie sucked.

also, i know cosplay you can only enter if your a japanime character, my friend, she entering, but can you go to supanova dressed as any character you want even if your not cosplaying?
Cool interview. =) Spiderman is alright but I am more into X-men and Tales From The Crypt. There are others I like but those two have to be my favorites. =)
maybe you could put up graphics of todds spiderman & his comics while he was speaking? It would make the video more visually appealing. just a suggestion to help out.
It's not about ME when I interview someone, so I tone down into a more relaxed and conversational mode to let whoever I'm interviewing "have the stage" so to speak... especially someone Like Todd, who can happily go right into story mode with the smallest of directional shoves ;) heh. Nice guy, easy to talk to.

maybe you could put up graphics of todds spiderman & his comics while he was speaking? It would make the video more visually appealing. just a suggestion to help out.

Is it just me or does blunty always change his voice when hes interviewing? He sounds different than normal..

Ha ha. Yeah you just say like one thing and hes off again for like 5 minutes.
Anyways, cool to finally see who's behind the modern Spiderman. Didn't know the history behind it and what not until i watched this xD
