  • very beautiful. This could be a great Tetris song, catchy and relaxing.

  • Hi, just out of curiosity what version of DS-10 are you using? I couldn't help but notice yours has a slider at the top of the sequencer to scroll along. Mine does not have this. Any info that anyone can give would be incredibly useful. Cheers.

  • @1realwild I have both the DS-10 and DS-10 plus. This song is made in the DS-10 version although it can easily be made in the DS-10 plus version as it just has more capabilities.

Do note that the scrollbar is in the song mode section only, not in the patterns.

  • BUTIFUL!

  • Great job !

  • yes finally a decent song on youtube from korg ds. nice dude. has a nice layer to it. you know music.

  • Cool! I also have 2 DS-10 tracks on my page. LOVE the synth!!! :-)

  • theme from the office?

  • excellent.. how about some tutorials for us dummies... on how this was done..

  • @davereap: Thanks. I'm not really going to make tutorials for my existing songs. Maybe I'll make a short making-off song for a new one, but that does depends if I can make a song and film it at the same time without me being in all kinds of weird positions X)

  • @davereap I have a couple of tracks up, and some "instrument walkthroughs", as I call them, going over the fancy-schmancy stuff I use in the tracks. :)

  • Very nice minimalistic song. I have DS-10 too, and going thru the learning curve.

  • @slog63: Thanks. Good luck learning the DS-10. :) Its very rewarding when you have. :) For the rest, just have fun playing with it.

  • Quality.

  • @PrivateBuckwheat: Agreed. :)

  • how did u get thoses chords...ive been trying to do that for at least a year..

  • @devinmaster23: I assume you mean the chords in the second part. Note that the guitars play on the drum tracks. I used 3 drum sounds and tuned them to the same guitar sound. That gives me room to put 3 notes on the same place and thus getting a chord. :)

  • just found the mp3. thank you. this makes me want to continue the fun I've had playing with this card.

    best game since NSMB imho

  • :) If you have something to share, let me know. :)

  • the song reminds me of Philip Glass's Koyaanisqatsi, and of Portal.

  • :) Glad you like it.

  • I'm trying to learn how to play sheet music on Korg DS-10 at the mo but it's not going brilliantly lol. Thought that it might help me understand better how tunes come together

  • Sheetmusic is not designed with the limitations that the DS-10 has. Its better to understand the limitations, and just build a song around that. If you have a complete song in your head, forget it to make it for the DS-10. If you just have some idea's, make them into a song, and extend your song until its finished. :)

  • yeah i agree. my aspiration for sheet music was short-lived - couldn't be arsed in other words lol. it is just better to experiment

  • Yeah, that certainly is better. I usually have an idea for a bass or for a rythm and I go from there. Sometimes I just go fiddling around with sounds till I have some nice sounds, then I save and a next time I start playing around with the sounds and put down a pattern.

  • you guitar sounds more like a piano to me

    but still very nicely done!

you should check my vids on the ds korg ds hope you'll like 'em too

  • Thanks :) I wasn't sure wether to call it a piano or a guitar, cus its neither of them... But I thought it to be more like a guitar, so I used it as one. :)

  • This song reminds me of the game portal for some reason.

    It's great!

    The cake is a lie!

  • I wonder how you can associate this with portal, cus its very different.

Portal is a great game though, dont' get me wrong... X) Maybe you're after the darker sounds in the bass... Anyway, Great to hear that you like it. :)

  • I can't even make a full length song, just a simple looping beat. I know I sound like a n00b but I'm new to this. Help?

  • Read the manual. X)

  • Once you know the basics just keep playing about with the software. Listen to some music and try to recreate it as simply as you can. Then keep going back to it and editing it again and again, using more of the features each time. You'll be making tunes in no time ^^

  • Yeah I spent hours on this game and started to get the hang of it. It drags to make a song though.

  • make a pattern ....click pattern in top right to make other ones...then when you have a few you want click song (Its in between menu and drums) and you can arrange your patterns to make a song.

    ope that helps!

  • This is really amazing. I've been playing around with Reason 4 for the past few months and I'm grabbing a DSi tomorrow. I think I may have to try this Synth DS "game" out. Hey, go any suggestions or guides you may know of to get me started with functionality?

  • Yeah, read the manual XD

For the rest its key to experiment with it.

  • quick question, can we make mp3s out of this??

  • I'm not sure I understand your question here. If you mean, that you want an mp3 version of this song, then click more info on the right. There's a link there.

  • how do you transfer song from ds to mp3?

  • Your gonna have to get a program like Logic or Audacity and record it through the Line In of your PC.

  • It sounds like something off of How It's Made.

By the Way, good job. I just got KORG DS today. =]

  • my uncle had shown me this, i absolutely love it... i haven't kept up with it much but i was just glancing at the new dsi and somehow it brought me here...

i really want one of my own..

oh and by the way, this tune is really stellar, it's so calm... it's like walking on the beach before sunset. :)

  • That was what I were after when making this song. :) I'm glad you like it. :)

I have more songs that you probably love. My song Walking is also alot like this. Even calmer too :)

  • how can i get a heavier bass in korg 10, when i connect it to a subwoofer?

    any ideas?

  • First connect your subwoofer, then alter the filter settings until it satisfies you.

A few things are good to know: the triangle waveform will create a very deep bass while a square and saw waveform will make your bass more sharp. Put the resonance to very low. Do this by ear though. So listen to where it sounds good.

  • this is beautiful! --I hope I get this good at it!!

  • As long as you make music that you like, it shouldn't be a problem. With each song you gain experience. With experience you become better. :)

  • you've convinced me to buy this.

    nice work

  • Yay, I guess XD

    Glad you like it.

  • and i forget: good song!

  • Thanks. :)

  • is it possible to play shorter notes than 1/16 but not just staccato i mean two 1/32 for one 1/16?

or just staccato, one 1/32 for one 1/16?

  • You can do some tricks to make it look like you have 2 1/32 notes on one beat.

You can use the delay to push notes there, and when you use short notes 50% or shorter, you can make the echo be placed on the second part. This ofcource means, that the note you hear is one you heard before, but with a bit of composing you can get a nice result. :)

Hmm.. sounds like a trick I should use in my next song. :D

  • Alternativelly, you could use the patch system and make a square waveform alter the pitch of the note. With some tweaking you would be able to get it alter the pitch on the second half of the note, but that would be really limiting.

If you simply want to repeat the same note, then use the patch technique with a saw |\|\ waveform and patch the volume one.

  • i just got this thing and i suck ass at it :(

  • Don't expect to be good when you do something you didn't do before. You need patience and alot of trying to get something nice.

  • very well done.

  • Glad you like it. :)

  • Awesome! I love the delay you used. Nice touch.

  • Thanks. :) I'm glad you like it. :)

  • Good song !

If it were on iTunes i'd buy it :]]

  • I guess I need to find a way to get it on iTunes then. XD

  • so nice, can't wait to start messing with my copy

  • :) Glad you like it.

  • nice... very nice...

  • Thanks.... very thanks... :D

  • damn...I just ordered one immediately after I heard this.

Pity though that its so hard to get a proper bass out of this machine.

  • :D

Its not that bad actually. Either connect the DS using line-in through a good stereo/computer and use its speakers or get good headphones. For the DS, I recommend the Sennheizer MX450. They have bass enhancement. I used it to make Within a deep forest., and it has plenty of bass. :)

  • best song i heard of the ds-10 until now :D

  • :) Glad you like it.

  • Could you show me how to make that regular piano sound? I'm kind of stuck replicating it :D

  • Thats a bit difficult I'm affraid. But this sound was aimed to be a guitar, not a piano :P Maybe if you keep that in mind, you'll have better luck? The reason why its difficult, is that I don't want to record a video just to show my techniques. It must have a song then, and making another song with this sound is something I don't want to do right now. I can't attach images so I can't really show you how I made the sound. This is due to the fact that I cannot insert links.

  • Glad you like it. :) I'll check out your songs too.

  • Pretty cool man.=3 I gotta couple songs I put up myself from KORG. U should check em n tell me what u think as a fellow KORG artist =D

  • Wow, that put my creations to absolute shame.

    Amazing job, keep it up.

  • Thanks :) I most certainly will. :)

  • !

befouling the korg ds with non techno!

nah, only joking :P that sounds awesome!! all my tunes are really electronic for some reason :S

  • :D Its quite easy to make electronic music with a device that was made to make electronic music. I just love to try and do the unexpected. :) You'll love Argumentation. Its rock/punk. :) (see the videoresponse)

  • Very interesting sounds, you really know how to deal with the Korg DS-10's limitations! keep it up.

  • Thanks :)

  • Great job, although, tbh, I did not hear any special polyphony.

I am impressed with the work of course - a real tracked tune!

  • The poliphony cn be heard at the start, where the guitars play. And that same guitar plays through the entire song. Ofcource I couldn't do poliphony everywhere, so the lead with the guitar had to suffer this X) but then again, its not that bad, cus with it, it sounded not that good X)

  • Whoa!! That sounds cool.. wait, super... no,

    AMAZING!!!

I have to get one of these.

  • Thanks :) If you are able to share your work, do. :)

  • is that a canon sd powershot digital elph?

  • Oh, I wish! No, its a Kodak EasyShare E-703. Pretty bad camera actually, but it was cheap X)

  • Thanks! I'm glad you like it :D

  • Dude this is awesome! Good job!
