  • Great video

  • perfeckt

  • Great video ;)

  • I think you did a good job.Too bad they already picked that other guy whose name I can't even recall, the Brit.

  • Guy looks more like the Superboy from the Late 80's or early 90's Superboy tv Show.

  • REspect! :D

  • make the superman logo smaller..but other than that great job

  • there will never be another Christopher Reeve (RIP) but i hope the new superman will be closer than the last one. :D

  • WOW, Jamie!! This was impressive! Very well put together and articulate!! Just...WOW!

  • Brandon Routh was scrawny? What planet are you from? He had the best body of any guy who's ever played the role. He also was the best-looking. The problem was ... he had no charisma onscreen. Nada. Perfect body, perfect face, wrong for the part.

  • If they ever make a movie set in the 40's or 50's, this guys has my vote - I can totally here that voice in a Lone Ranger - best of luck, dude.

  • Character Superman is too dificult because of his appearance even without the suit, he is handsome and strong. Nevertheless, you look great as superman. Congratulations.

  • superman needs to be jacked. like im talking atleast 250 lbs.of pure muscle..arnold sized action hero. theyve already done the scrawny superman that they figured girls would love; see smallville and superman returns... both crapfestivals..... now we need a superman who can be in a fight! imagine that superman fighting someone in a movie. good luck man but i dont foresee zack snyder paroozing youtube for actors

  • @bradrydstrom Actually, that doesn't fit Superman. He should be 225lbs tops, which is DC's listing for his size. Anything much bigger than that and the actor can't pull off Clark Kent.. and both need to be convincing or it falls flat.

This actually wasn't for the Superman movie role, but for the hometown "Metropolis, IL" contest (which I am proud to say I got 2nd to the awesome Josh Boltinghouse). If I got the movie role, I'd definitely work with a trainer and get to Superman size.

  • @bradrydstrom Also, Christopher Reeve wasn't "steroid" huge, and he's most people's idea of what Superman looks like. The movie studio hired a personal trainer for him to beef up. Brandon Routh looked bigger out of the suit because it wasn't made to accent his muscles properly (see trunks and neckline), and Tom Welling - that guy's pretty muscular!

I'd love to play Superman in the movies, though. I will say, if this video were for a movie studio to see, I'd have done it quite differently.

  • @JAKalElvis your right. David Prowse was hired to be Christopher Reeve's personal trainer. Originally, Christopher Reeve was asked to put on a muscle suit for the Superman movie (1978), but he refused. So he worked out, he went from 190Ibs-225Ibs. He's 6'4'' tall. Brandon Routh is only 6'3'' 218Ibs. when he did Superman Returns. The only reason why he looked bigger in that movie, was muscle the suit was more inflated, making him look more dense and bigger.

  • You sure resemble both Reeves and the comic book superman.

I hope they use you in a Superman movie. You would do great,

You can act, you look like superman, you seem to have the heart of one as well.

    Up up and away....

  • i really like you :-) wish we could see you in the near future on tv

  • you really look like him, I think u could doo a great superman, and even your voice sounds good, I think your missing a lil more muscular mass, but great!

  • @JediBen16 Yeah, Jamie Aaron Kelley's pretty cool. But give Welling credit and I agree with JAKalElvis, he done a good job.

    Anyway, I like this:)

  • @JediBed16 Yeah, Jamie Aaron kelley pretty cool. But give Welling credit and I agree with JAKalElvis, he has done a good job over the years and has become a better actor in the process.

But anyway, I liked this clip:)

  • Very cool video. Very nice costume as well.

  • You'd definently be better than that guy in smallville I can easily say that

  • @JediBen16 I actually think Tom Welling does a good job, overall, but I really appreciate the compliment!

  • This guy's audition was very good. And the voice was good to.

  • That's awesome! Plus you have an awesome super-voice!

  • This was a really nifty video. You did a great job--I'd accept you as Superman!

  • As soon as I saw you, Dean Cain came to my mind. Brilliat.

  • i like you :) you are amazing

  • Send this to the right casting directors and I promise you'll definately land a role either on a television series, commercial, or even short or independent feature film depicting The Man of Steel. Hat's off to you, brotha. All the best.

  • "S" emblem a little too big on you...makes you look "smaller" when you should be looking "larger than life". Overall look is really good tho....obvious you can act!

  • @speculate1 Thanks for the comments! I can see what you mean, and I might do that for the next suit. This suit was made in 1993 or '95 to fit the "Dan Jurgens" era Superman (still my favorite). It's held up well for a suit that's about 15 years old. :)

  • @speculate1 The S emblem looks good when it's big.

  • Holy crap, dude, you ARE Superman!

  • Have you guys ever considered the fact that nowadays, a suit like that would be a bit stupid?

Even if we had a Superman...or....if I could become somehow empowered like him....I'd use something a bit less...." shinny"...perhaps....I'd keep the 'S' but....common...let's keep it simple....

Trunks over the trousers....Cape......there's no need......sorry...this is my thoughts....I'm a Superman fan though...

  • @flavku Actually, I disgree with this. It's about inspiration. It looks"stupid" because it's not real.

If you saw a guy who could lift a building and fly coming to save you, you wouldn't care what he was wearing it'd be cool.. but there are other reasons.

The cape and colors: they're primary colors and are meant to be bright, to inspire. I agree that "shiny" isn't good (my suit isn't shiny, you'll notice). It draws and distracts the eye of criminals, to draw their fire as well.

  • Speaking on the first point - if Superman had not been a comic book all these years and had appeared all-of-a-sudden.. there would be such a "Rob-Pattinsonesque" clamor over his powers that it'd make what he's wearing cool because "he's" wearing it.

However, the other point is more to the real idea. Based on the circus performers of the 20s and 30s, the bright colors tell people of all ages that they have nothing to fear. Seeing some kids' fear on seeing more modern costumes proves this.

  • emmmmmmmm...... i think i love you :)

  • Nice Suit. I'm also a Superman in my town. I mostly wear my Superman hoodie when the weather is cold. You did good as Superman and Clark Kent and Ronda as Lois Lane.

  • Very good video!

  • cool

  • Hello superman

I think you look like the real superman, I am fan of you,i hope you will be the future Superman of cinema in USA, Iam also a superman in my town Valenciennes in france.

it's possible to see me on you tube

    Good luck for the future,

I am your friend in France.

    Greats, superman Valenciennes

  • hello, jamie, nice to see you, you look like really Superman , i am fan of Superman, i hope a lot of luck to you, because i am also a Superman in france You can see me on youtube also.

I hope you are the new superman for cinema

    superman Valenciennes (France)

Your clothes are very beautiful !!!

  • totally looks like Superman

  • I thought only Wonder Woman did that kinda change?

  • You look the part. I hope you get cast as the next Superman!

  • So.... did you go for it this year? You know, I grew up hearing Elvis (mom was a big fan) and reading Superman. I've always thought Supes should sound a bit similar to E and you do. Great mix. And when that other poster made comment about your Clark resembling Dean Cain.. I caught that, too. Dean is my favourite Clark.

  • I really wish you would have made it as the official superman of metropolis this year! You are my version of exactly what Clark Kent/Superman would be like. Speaking of Clark Kent, I really enjoyed seeing you portray him at the festivities with Lois Lane by his side. I'm a big superman fan but it was my first time going so it truly made the even that much more enjoyable seeing the iconic "Lane and Kent" reporting team there!

  • Thank you so much! Ronda and I had a blast as Lois and Clark, reporting everything we could. We'll be there next year, too and hope to see you - and some day, I'm determined to be the official Superman. In the meantime, we're really enjoying Josh, as he definitely makes a great Superman!

  • Great !! Good luck!!

Please enjoy my new song "I We Ever Need A Super Man" by John Hunter Phillips

    Thanks very much, John

  • You make some very valid points about Superman being an iconoclastic symbol of "truth and justice" for the entire planet. People must also realize that, even though Superman is an alien, Kal El was raised in the Heartland by people who taught him good moral values and ethics. He was raised and nurtured as one of us! Clark kent is who he really is! That's one of the main things about Superman that stands out for me.

You make an excellent Superman and Clark Kent!

    Thank you and good luck!

  • Thank you! That's exactly how I feel as well - Clark is the man, Superman is his uniform. I see both opinions on that, but I can't imagine anyone wanting to live their whole "human" life as a facade. Having to do some things to cover up, sure, but to make Clark the disguise is a slight against his upbringing - in my own personal opinion, anyway, I just find that interpretation more relatable, while others who grew up with the Pre-Crisis interpretation have their own (also valid) opinions.

  • Thank you! I'm a huge fan of DC Comics but I've always leaned more toward the Batman. I should have some "Batman" videos up within the next couple of months (Whatever my busy schedule allows me!) so keep an eye out for them!

    Thanks' again!

  • Very cool - I'll certainly keep an eye out for that! Thanks!

  • awesome costume!

looks perfect! the only thing a bit off is the top right of the S shield. Love the way the cape flows in the wind, just perfect!

  • Thank you! The emblem is actually taken from an early 90's Dan Jurgens comic, so it's accurate to what I was looking for at the time. Believe it or not, that costum is 15 years old!

  • you look great as superman, you certainly have the right look

I'm a batman fan but also love superman

  • i dont think we are ready for Elvis - Superman..besides Supes aint a symbol of america no more Joe...he is a global symbol for hope and peace and the future...

  • You must not read the comics - Elsewords comic storylines (like "Red Son" where Kal lands in the USSR) explore different possibilities - and *that* would be facinating as a "landed in Tupelo" Elseworkds comic. As for the symbol of America.. that might not be Superman's goal, but to the general public he'll always be a symbol of America. He does represent the best values in everyone, values that America was founded on. I approved this comment to explain this so everyone will know my meaning.

  • Wanted to add further - It's true that Superman stands for everyone, all over the world. But "The American Way" means, as I just said, those vaules of freedom and equality for everyone that America was formed on. Too many people confuse "The American Way" with him being a symbol for everything America is or ever has been, including politics, etc - and this is wrong. Superman *is* an embodiment of the best of those core values, thus his credo of "Truth, Justice, and the American Way".

  • Nice... Hey here's a story line for you. Elvis is on stage singing. He hears a damsel in distress, goes back stage for a drink of water from Charlie and spins around into his Superman outfit and goes off to save the world. All the while an imperonator walks on stage to complete the show for the miliseconds Elvis is gone. Hey I'm a big superman fan and Smallville fan but with this movie who needs Clark Kent huh.

  • That's funny.. actually, I had a "Kal-Elvis" comic storyline thought up in the "Elseworlds/What If" line of thinking. But I love Clark. Superman is what he can do, but Clark is who Superman is.

Sometime I'll have to make another video - just do a search for the Metropolis Superman contest and you'll see how much better the suit looked than it does in the video.. and that was only the beginning for what I have in mind.

  • Very nice costume. Wouldn't you be Kal-El-Vis.

Funny I have some friends who call me Edvis. Although 100 yrs ago when I was in high school a lot of the so called bad dude football players used to call me Elvis. I guess they thought it was intimidating or something. I suppose they've grown up by now.

  • Thank you. I've used the Kal-Elvis moniker for some online stuff (like this youtube name) - if you mean playing that kind of character.. I don't know. Makes a better comic than live action, imo. lol

I got the "Elvis" nickname a lot back in school, myself (I never cared one way or the other), but it's funny how different reactions have been after all the things I've done over the 25 years of performing. Quite a change from then, too, since I'm now only doing my own shows and not Elvis shows.

  • I hope you try again buddy you should have an even better chance next time buddy,

    Cheers

    MIke

  • Thanks! I really hope to get it at some point. I'm a huge Superman fan (obviously lol) and that would be a lot of fun to be able to portray Superman in any kind of official capacity. :)

  • Jamie I hope you made it you are a great looking Superman buddy.

  • I didn't win the search but came very close (Josh Boltinghouse won, see pics from the 08 Metropolis Celebration because the video and others from before didn't do him justice imo), but I did win the costume contest - and with it some fun money to put into perfecting my suit! ..I'd have spent money to get the suit improved anyway, but that's beside the point, lol..

  • Well Done on your Application for Superman.

I Live in Britain and you would make a Brilliant 'Clark Kent/Superman'.

  • Unlucky Jamie, personally I thought you was the best one. Strangely when you said "I guess I better get changed and looked down you sounded and reminded me of Dean Cains Clark Kent. Then when you changed into Superman you reminded me of Gerard Christopher a bit. I wasn't a huge fan of the Josh Boltinghouse to me I don't like Superman to look too jacked up.

    Anyways again unlucky!

  • Well, I came in a close second to a guy who's 6'4", 225lbs of pure muscle, and a heck of a personality to boot, so I'm pretty happy about that. I definitely am thinking on how to improve both my own performance as well as the costume, so whenever it's time to look for Superman again, I'll be way past ready.

If you like what you see now, you haven't seen anything. :D

  • Wow,.. I am so behind you,.... you are perfect, Jamie,.. you actually look like Superman, and your voice,.. man, I could actually see you as the big screen SUPERMAN!!! With the right trainer, and I'm assuming you can act, you could actually pull it off,... even my wife,.. a huge critic, said she thought you were totally perfect when your video came on!!

  • Hey Jamie! Nice job! I was rooting for you!

  • Jamie this is David Allen! Hey man I am a huge Superman since I was able to walk. Man I got kind of serious here for a second.I watched all of the other top 5 Supermen and the only competition is Josh Boultinghouse....But I think you are better....You have the persona down pat.....Good Luck...TCB

  • They should do Brandon Routh's hair like yours. You got the look, the walk, and all. You have my vote. Just promise me one thing if you win. Make sure your hair didn't blown by wind like in this video. :D

  • lol! Thanks, and I'll try on that as long as the Metropolis weather is calm, but one good thing about the way I have it is that it'll flop back into place after the wind is done - it was a REALLY windy day when we shot. :D

  • cool. you look like the tv superboy, gerard christopher.

and good luck to your superman audition.

so far, you and josh are my top two choices.

  • Thanks! That does remind me - I haven't yet said my age and all that..

    I'm 28, blue eyes, and in costume I'm 6'2".

Sometime today/tonight, I'm finally going to do a full post on the "Search For Superman" forum, to post more pictures and tell everyone about myself.

I'm also going to put up an "uncut" video, as there were a few neat things - and one funny/classic-ish Clark part - that had to be left out to make the video fit the required 1 min 30 sec time. Hope everybody will like it.:)

  • Loved your application/video. You will make an incredible Superman. You have the voice and the passion that go right along with it. You would also represent goodness off stage as well as when you are on stage. This is what children need today, an idol/role model that they can count on. One who is honest and sincere. Best of luck.
