I am certainly not defending any massacres in Kosovo or anywhere. It was the bombing of Serbia which ignited the main violence in Kosovo against innocent civilian Albanians. It is in no way justified, but the bombing was a crime and one of its direct consequences was an escalation in Kosovo.
You also mentioned that, Croatian Ustasism is still "thriving" and that it is the "basis of Croatian nationalism."
In saying so you have to refer to other extremist parties such as Nazism which is still the biggest and thriving extremist movements in the world. But yes it is still around, as it would be, since Croatia is a democratic country and people are allowed to express any of there point of views. Yes I would agree that it happened in the Bosnian War, (as hatred and the past combined) but it was at a small scale, which was all but focused at some of the paramilitaries. Since the government and the Army didn't support such actions and views in 91.
My point was that even 60,000 is a staggeringly high murder count and that my point stands - the Serbs were victims of genocidal violence and that the cycle of violence does not commence in 1991, but has a long and complex history.
Its funny people pplay this game on Youtube all the time. Because then I can mention what happened after the the war was over and when Croatian servicemen, Ustasa members, some that were part of the Luftwaffe ground forces were killed along what was called the Bleiburg Death marches. Only a few Ustase remained since most were able to flee to Argentina and such.

You have a point here. What I was getting at was that a Nazi ideology (Ustasism) was the main form of Nationalism in WW2 - and killed *at least* 60,000 Serbs - and that ideology was not extinct but still the basis of contemporary Croatian ultra-nationalism (which was a factor in the Bosnian war).
I am not trying to imply negatively, on how many Serbs died, I dont like putting a number on victims, which ever side it is, But I did a fair bit of research on it and there is a lot tall tale. So you just look at foreign information, and see what they have..:D

I would go along with most of what that man says, with the exception of the parts where he speculates on the motives for the NATO bombing of Serbia which eventually unseated Milosevic: I believe that NATO was not duped by the Albanians, and that they knew perfectly well what was happening in Kosovo, and that they real agenda was to remove Milosevic who they saw as an obstacle to western interests in the region, and the KLA's rebellion was the most expedient opportunity to do this.

If I understand correctly, conflict started when KLA killed Serbian police, in the heartland of Serbia, Kosovo. Serbian war tactic is this 1. Bomb 2. Artillery. 3. Tank 4. Infantry.

At the same time, by popular vote, Dr. Ibrahim Rugova, was elected the first President of the Republic of Kosova (99 percent of the vote). Dr Rugova was endorsed by all the parties. Elections were held under constant fear of a Serbian military attack. International pressure did prevent it.
The first free elections ever held in Kosova took place orderly and in relative quiet (a few volunteers at the polls were arrested by Serbian police). 87 percent of the registered voters showed up at the polls to elect 100 representatives for the new Parliament of Kosova. There were 23 political parties and organizations, with over 5000 candidates, participating.
The Parliament and the Government of the Republic of Kosova, apply formally with the Peace Conference on Yugoslavia held in Hague, Netherlands, requesting the recognition of the Republic of Kosova as an equal and independent member-participant in the Conference.
The Parliament of the Republic of Kosova, (in exile) authorized the Formation of the Government of the Republic of Kosova. Dr. Bujar Bukoshi, a physician, was selected to be the new Prime Minister.

Actually, the real problem started when Tito in 60' let Albanians come and inhabit that area. I mean, everybody is welocme, no country must permit so many immigrants. Then, the mortality of Serbs on Kosovo grew larger, as Albanian natality also grew. So, in 90' we came in the situation we had too many Albanians at our land. Even worse, they wanted that lend for themselves.

I think we Irish have a special affinity with Serbs because there are similarities between the two cultures and our respective histories. And you are absolutely right about the ferocity of the reaction to a "neutral" sympathizing with Serbs. He was in fact the only leader in that region who wanted[rightly or wrongly] to preserve Jugoslavia. One more point to make: During WW2, the Croatian Ustashe killed between 750,000-1000,000 people [Serbs,Jews and Gypsies] and not 200,000 as you stated.

Regarding Kosovo, it is everyone's business because it might redefine how political unions are formed in the 21st century. Regarding Operation Storm, it was a CIA planned and US assisted operation launched months before the Dayton Accord was signed and led to the murder of hundreds and the ethnic cleansing of hundreds of thousands of Serb civilians. One can argue Croatia had a right to get back its territory, but it has no right to celebrate war crimes.

I am certainly not defending any massacres in Kosovo or anywhere. It was the bombing of Serbia which ignited the main violence in Kosovo against innocent civilian Albanians. It is in no way justified, but the bombing was a crime and one of its direct consequences was an escalation in Kosovo.

In saying so you have to refer to other extremist parties such as Nazism which is still the biggest and thriving extremist movements in the world. Because then I can mention what happened after the the war was over and when Croatian servicemen, Ustasa members, some that were part of the Luftwaffe ground forces were killed along what was called the Bleiburg Death marches. Only a few Ustase remained since most were able to flee to Argentina and such.

The Croatian people did not fight for a a larger extremist movement which you mentioned was Ustasism, but the love for their country.
So it is uneducated to make that suggestion, since it is not the basis of Croatian nationalism and never has been since World War II.

You have a point here. What I was getting at was that a Nazi ideology (Ustasism) was the main form of Nationalism in WW2 - and killed *at least* 60,000 Serbs - and that ideology was not extinct but still the basis of contemporary Croatian ultra-nationalism (which was a factor in the Bosnian war).

So both sides suffered acts of genocide.
And that circle of violence did commence all the way until the balkan conflict stopped.

I would go along with most of what that man says, with the exception of the parts where he speculates on the motives for the NATO bombing of Serbia which eventually unseated Milosevic: I believe that NATO was not duped by the Albanians, and that they knew perfectly well what was happening in Kosovo, and that they real agenda was to remove Milosevic who they saw as an obstacle to western interests in the region, and the KLA's rebellion was the most expedient opportunity to do this.

In Kosovo, please don't say Kosova as it is not the rightful spelling.
Rakija is best made by Serbs since it was invented by them, however I do like Sharski Sir, the cheese from Shar Planina. I also know a lot of Albanians who would never allow Serbs to live in the Serbian land of Kosovo.

I have to dissapoint you about rakija. It was not invented by serbs but by arabs and is brought throw turks in Balkan. Serbs are the greatest consumaters of rakija. Albanians use it also but only self made rakija and wine.

If I understand correctly, conflict started when KLA killed Serbian police, in the heartland of Serbia, Kosovo. Serbian war tactic is this 1. Bomb 2. Artillery. 3. Tank 4. Infantry.

Conflict started in early 1981, when the Yugoslav (serb) army came in to Kosova and never left. Years of torture and apartheid made the Albanians to think about defending and not listen to the pacifist Rugova anymore.
In Kosova, many serb soldiers used drugs because of fear and fighting for something that's not theirs!
