God these Carvel commercials are absolutely terrible. They are so bad they almost seen like a joke. Is that the chain owner doing the voice at the end?
OMG there really was a product called "Dumpy the Pumpkin"?!? that must be where Howard Stern got the inspiration to make up a fake Carvel cake called "Dumpy the Sphincter!"
I'll tell you straight up...BEST ice cream cake EVER!! We found them for sale at the Fort Campbell KY commissary. I bought it for my son for his birthday because we don't live in NJ and Dairy Queer just isn't the same!
Growing up in Jersey, we knew these commercials well. Besides the obvious, Tom's voice quality, we always cracked up at the names he gave his character cakes. But we always felt like they were hilarious by accident, Tom didn't intend on them being so, but they WERE just by their shear simplicity and goofiness. Awesome clip, and in the words of the familiar ending of all Tom Carvel's commercials, "thank you" ADVERTNATION.
