Just ordered these from you, can you share info on the autodim setup and trigger wire, according to the online manual when that wire is connected to the headlight the lights are turned off,
@AllThingsAviation DRL's don't normally come with a switch, they are intended to come on with the start of the vehicles ignition unless you wire them to a specific switch of your choosing. But that would be up to you.
@Memo10RB Yes you could fit them to the B6 Passat as long as you have vents that do not have fogs in them. The DRL's don't do anything to Canbus, you don't need any thing or do anything, they work with canbus just fine and wont give any errors.
@TheSupaDusty For the 12' Camry I would rather recommend the "Sly lights - Longline" LED DRL's we offer on our website. They would be good fit for the center bumper vent and work a bit better I think for that model.
@ExquiziteSTORM Yes we will do a video in the next few days with them on during daylight hours. We are powering them in the video with a small cheap 12v bench box, actually less power then is supplied by the car. Shipping time to Australia depends on where in Australia you are, generally I would expect 2-3weeks.
Excellent, informative video. Love that it is a Universal kit and Hella is a brand you can count on. I will be hitting TM Tuning up for a set of these soon.
I think $275 for these DRL's is a little too much for me. I just went ahead bought 10 superbright LED's mounted them in my headlights and they turn on when ever I turn my car on and also with a switch if I ever wanted them off.
@acvio Well these are not meant to be mounted into the headlights, but either way I just somehow don't see a homemade kit working as well, as bright, as good quality or with the already built in features these have. But we commend your effort... $275- for what you get with Hella and German quality is really actually pretty reasonable.
@TMTuningdotcom I have a '94 mazda mpv, and in these cars they have blinkers assemblies with a separate empty chamber. I used that as a extra "headlight". Actually, if Im not mistakin some versions of this van (i think canada) had a OEM DRL option using that spot. Because when I started drilling there were marks to where to drill oem DRLs back in the day. they do not work as a fog or driving light but are bright enough to be seen far away.
im not gonna lie but its really awesome , so my Q is , the size is to big that you cant even cut it if you wanna put somewhere in your front car , but i have a lexus IS 350 2010 , what do you think if i bought those LED's how could i install it in my car ?
@22fakeandgay The measurements of this light are listed on the product page on the site. You must take the size of the light and compare that to the space you want to fit them to. If the Hella daylines are too large you might want to check out the slimlines or shortline LED DRL's we offer.
@22fakeandgay All DRLs are not the same. If you want cheap and nasty stuck on LED strips they don't even show up in the day. This seems to be a decent light with good optics. That is why it appears bigger than others. Don't forget the brand name goes back many years and is a trusted brand - so you are not buying rubbish!!! I still have some big HELLA spotlights from the 80's that are like dinner plates!!!!
is it possible to open these up and custom mount them in my motorcycle headlights? i dont want to use those cheap led strips and these look super bright
Hella produce a pro product. There is no mention of DRL E marking or approval number I would expect that is all OK. The ECE R87 spec calls for beam intensity to be down to 50% at 7-8 degrees in the vertical either side of centre. As these were moved it seemed likely. Have been looking for a brilliance number in candela. Is this specified?
@davmax1000 All of the lighting products we offer are "E" marked, and the Hella products are always E-certified for every region.
Hella does not list the candela or Lum output of the lights. But neither do OEM manufactured lights so I always wonder why people ask this? .. there is nothing to compare it to if there was a rating listed.
@TMTuningdotcom Thanks. The reason this question is asked is that the UNECE R87 standard states the range of Candela (Cd) that can be approved by E approvals. The range must be between 400 and 1200 Cd. If a DRL is rated in Candela the buyer then knows whether it falls within the required range and how relatively bright ie 1200 Cd is very bright. Philips DRL is 650Cd see web site.
@TMTuningdotcom I can supply a link to a set of relevant documents. Unfortunately this comment area does not support a pasted link. Gives an error message.
@davmax1000 'Candela' is the rating for those tiny led kits the Fast & Furious kids stick on their Hondas. These Hella DRL's use the Phillips/Osram Golden Dragon LEDs. Golden Dragons are also used in certain Audi series. According to Osram's technical spec sheet, each led is spec'd out at 50 lumens.
Though Hella may not include this specific bit of information, the leds and their specs can be found on Phillips/Osram's website with a little searching.
@RacerXGTO Sorry to inform you but you are very wrong indeed. Check the UNECE 87 standards for DRLs. Candela applies to the source brilliance in one direction of all LEDs and is applied to all products that have focused light. The lumen value as specified by the LED manuafacturer is the total light output in all directions, it is a component spec. There is a very good explanation available but unfortunately this thread will not accept hyperlinks.
@jerryx2000 There is no specific wiring instructions that are model or make specific. They come with the instructions on the wiring of the units which explains what sources each wire needs. I.e. power, ground, dimmer switch etc.
I have been wanting to see THESE particular DRL's for a few months now, THANK YOU!
Yes, Hella quality is the highest you can get in a DRL system like this.
The autodim feature is very nice for night driving, however, the challenge is color matching the light output of the leds, to HID headlight color output as Mercedes has masterfully done with their cars that have the LED DRL option. Halogen headlights will stand out as yellow compared to the led's pure white color. :-p
Just ordered these from you, can you share info on the autodim setup and trigger wire, according to the online manual when that wire is connected to the headlight the lights are turned off,

You should show these outside at night, or mounted in a vehicle at night so we can see the beam thrown and how they look overall.

Awesome lighting. Could use the dimensions; length, height, width.
I have seen some prety crudy DRLs that people have put in with LEDs but these are just like the AUDI bright DRLs.

@TheOriginalSnowhawk The dimensions are listed on the product page of the site, they are measurements: 226 x 31 x 83 mm
Yes compared to about 90% of the other LED DRL's on the market these are far superior.
