its awesome to see what smellys done for the sport of powerlifting. the guys brought a great sense of humor along with a shut the fuck up and train type of attitude to the sport. if we had more guys like mark in our sport i think we'd def. be getting the attention we deserve for the dedication that goes into our training. props to all you guys at ST, you guys have all brought the sport of powerlifting to a much bigger stage than what it was just 2 or 3 years ago.
Im tired of the guys dissing bench shirts. Even if you wore a 2 ply rage x shirt you guys will never be able to lift half that amount. So stay in you mon n dads basement keept wanking it to these vids, just keep your fucking traps shut.
He's not fucking bloated Retard. Those bench shirts are hard as hell to get on... Some can take up to 4 guys to help Mark get his bench shirt on. Know what your talking about before you write a comment fuck head. You never want to lower the weight fast, you lose control! Cyberkai99 there is no way you bench 375 and miss 300 with a suit... Your doing something seriously wrong then...
Man thats strong i just dont get why he cant lower the weight a little faster . I know its fucking over 800 pounds but it seems that this is the reason he misses the lift . What do you guys think?
I've often thought the same thing. He expends so much energy by lowering the weight in 6-10 seconds that he has almost nothing left to press with. He needs to wear a shirt that is one size looser and single ply and then I think his performance would improve. Not sure though.
cos his shirts providing loads of upwards tension so he has to pull it down for the last bit. i guess the more upwards tension the shirt has the more weight you can press but it makes it harder to get it to your chest
the problem is the shirt. As the weight goes down, it increases the tension in the shirt so there's more and more resistance to the lowering. Thats why he couldn't physically touch the weight to his chest on the last lift.... The tension then gives you the help out of the bottom, and you force up to lock out (hence the training system of chains and bands to alter the strength curve).
Mark, good effort. I'm not really into the whole powerlifting scene honestly, but i respect your hardwork and effort so much. I was well aware of who you were from the Q and A and elitefts. After Bigger,Faster,Stronger I really dig his attitude and where he comes from. Good Job Smelley!
haha gotta love the people that dont understand bench shirts, they just think you put it on and bench 800+ pounds, what a bunch of fucking idiots. Nice attempts mark you will be closing in on 900 in the near future your a beast
@ThePunisherson or they realise the difference in numbers between raw and suited... i personally dont like them, but its not like we're cleaning the BP spill or anything, to each his own
It's true that RAW is the test of one's real strength and that you can't buy a better set of muscles to lift more weight, but training in a bench shirt has it's own chalenges. I have benched 375 RAW, but I can't even hit 300 in my shirt because the groove is just so damn strange. It takes a completely different type of strength that I myself and especially you aren't used to. You aren't used to it just because the difference in form.

I am curiosity to know why he could not touch and bring the bar down the last inch or so?
Is it because his suit was too tight?
I heard that the suit is very sore and rips your skin and have seen guys with deep grooves in their triceps, chest and back at meets.
