I agree Londongamer. Great music from a great era. I also said I was born one generation too late. This is when people had respect for others, and it wasn't this current, "all about me" world.
Music like this is from the era when men were gentlemen, women were ladies and society was so much better than it is now. Such a shame to see how society has gone downhill. Listening to this makes me smile; it's warm, it's heartfelt goodness, it's MUSIC, it stays in the memory, it's classy, it's brilliant. Love it. :)
I love listening to this beautiful piece yet a bunch of dumbfucks sit here and bitch about rap....really? you claim to be all interested in this music.....clearly
A great song written by Alberto Domínguez (1938). The song is played in the film Casablanca when Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart dance in the Paris nightclub.

@ryansmellsbad I went to a Glenn Miller concert with a lot of people and when the host asked how many people had a Facebook, only about 12 raised their hand. ;)
I love this song so much, I'm only 16 and I really love swing and big band. I also re-enact WWII battles.. Everyone thinks I'm probably crazy or insane because I love it all. I love the 30's and 40's and 50's. Greatest era of not only the USA but for the rest of the world as well. Men and women had the decency, were beautiful, cars looked great and were good, music, culture.. Everything was just great. I wish I could've lived back then. Thanks for this beautiful upload.
@MsgtRowan420497 You're what they call an old soul. I'm one too. I'm 27 and listen to this stuff all the time and wish I lived in the 40's. I swear I'm reincarnated from a soldier in the 40's. hahaha.
@MsgtRowan420497 it was great except for racial segregation, wars in which tens of millions of people were killed, jews were gassed by the millions, hitler, stalin, mussolini, the threat of nuclear war, etc.
@tallnlean9 "Jews were gassed by the millions" yes, maybe, but why didn't you mention the 50 million Stalin killed in his labor camps, or the the US with the Japanese? :p

@Kar98Ward121 Hello! Hey, this is a good choice!!! This beautiful song is not from Glenn Miller, it is of a mexican composer, named Alberto Dominguez. This is a wonderful cover played my the master Miller.
Greetings from Mexico. and sorry for my bad english.
It restores my faith in youth to hear that a 16 y.old has the taste and discernment to understand that the RAP of today is TOTAL garbage. BRAVO! The nonsense that the TV stations and record companies of today are subjecting our youth to is nothing short of disgraceful. They are either promoting gangsters, pole dancers, lunatics or anarchists. In technological terms we have excelled, yet in music, we have entered the DARK AGES! Thank GOD for youtube where we can still find some very fine MUSIC.
Beautiful...everything about it, from the harmonizing of the vocals to the instruments. It had a catchy beat with a wonderful message in the lyrics. Now I see why this was part of one of the best ages in the history of the world. Sometimes I feel like I was born in the wrong time.
He does this song so well. THIS MUSIC MAKES MY HEART SING. Great medicine... and maybe I cannot go back to 1955 again, but Iris, it was the fall of 1956, we were like 11... WHY DID your family have to move to California???
White Rock was the better place. Still love you, kid

Hey, I’m a young artist, & I would really appreciate it if everyone would check out my cover of Michael Bublé’s “You’re Nobody till Somebody Loves You.” Although I’m knowledgeable that Michael Bublé was not the first to record the song, my version was inspired by his rendition, nonetheless. I promise you that you will not regret giving my version of the song a listen, & it will truly knock you off of your feet! So please listen & enjoy! Thanks!
Glenn Miller is my favorite, and i'm a teenager. i would much rather listen to this than any other type of music, and none of my friends understand why. no one knows quality music when there hear it today.
Now this is music. The RAP today is absolutely garbage. The lyrics are discusting, and all the songs talk about is having lots of money, shooting cops, ect. I'm 16 years old, and this is the only style music I listen to. God Bless America!
@WarBirdMan1 I'm pretty sure you said the exact same thing on the Lil Wayne song you just commented on. Yes Lil Wayne sucks but I'd be willing to bet you've never taken 2 seconds to research any rap deeper than the mainstream bullshit you hear on the radio. If this is the one style of music you listen to you're missing out severely my friend, music has evolved way past this and not all of it is bad.
@WarBirdMan1 I'm going to have to agree with you to an extent. Generalization is not right when it comes to genres of music. I listen to Lil' Wayne. I listen to Marvin Gaye. I listen to Elvis, Michael Jackson, and countless others. This song is great. But you can not simply say every (insert genre here) is within (insert boundary here). That outlook prevents you from finding good hip-hop that suits you. Do you catch my drift? By the way I'm 17.
@WarBirdMan1 And let's not forget how that great sum of money is obtained by doing dirty acts. I'm fourteen, and there is nothing you say that I can't agree with. Good to know someone else like me is out there
If you're 16 and you only listen this style of music cause you think that all the other music is shit you have a problem, this is music, and rap is music too. You are beeing so inmature, grow up please.
@WarBirdMan1 Your an idiot. There's good Rap Music, like Gorillaz, Aesop Rock, Rage Against the Machine. And don't act like your special because you listen to old music. Don't act nostalgic about it, you weren't born in the 30's.
You're a moron. "Good" and "rap" are mutually exclusive terms, and never belong in the same sentence together next to each other. It certainly has NOTHING to do with music.
@MISisback Only a fool believes there is no such thing as "good" rap. All genres of music have good music to offer, although I would argue that hardcore metal is not "music". There are plenty of great rap artists with real lyrical abilities and political messages. I prefer classical, jazz, and swing...but even I have heard some great rap.
@MISisback Immortal Technique - Cause of Death, Tupac - Ghetto Gospel, Xzibit - Paparazzi, Immortal Technique - Harlem Streets...those are just a few. Listen to the first one and honestly try to tell me that there is no skill involved in the song. Listen to the whole song, not just the beginning. Also, if you knew another language you would find even more rap. German rap is extremely well done, the mix of German and English make it something very unique.
@MISisback All garbage? LOL, go and make a rap song right now if it's soooo easy, Oh wait, you can't! Any asshole can talk, but it takes actual talent to create GOOD rap. I know plenty of people that can play instruments without knowing notes and can sing without any training...but I have yet to meet someone that can rap naturally, especially on the spot, aka a freestyle. Again, this is coming from a classical lover.
@hotsizzleakadafizz your a stupid ass nigger loving bumperliped piece of shit. this song is a classic unmatchable by any fake ass gangsta shit you and your spooks come out with. i hope you rot in hell you fuckin eraser head motherfucker along with all the rest of the bootliped faggots.
@skiddidydat You moronic prick! I clearly stated that I prefer classical, jazz, big band, and swing! I never compared Glenn Miller to ANY rap or hip hop. Maybe you need to learn the skill of reading, before coming at someone with your kindergarden slurs! I hope you continue to slander random individuals, I'm sure Jesus really looks at you with a proud grin. May God have mercy on your demonic soul.
@MISisback Hmm, My fucktard sense is tingling. RAPPERS AND EMCEES, are different. So don't group them together. Emcees are in a sense telling a story, and RAPPERS, are shitheads like Lil' Wayne. So slow your role.
Don't patronize me. The point is, they're TALKING, not SINGING. I don't care to hear any ghetto "stories". I don't care to hear about their lack of education. I don't care to hear what they think about their bitches and hos and all the other muthafuckas. I don't need to hear them say their own name 20 times in between grunts and groans. It's talentless. Any fool can do it. Just steal a Casio keyboard, click Play, start speaking gibberish, and make millions off other fools.
@MISisback Please do not be so closed minded to the many ways a human can express himself. Rap finds its roots in many classical forms of human auditory exression, including spoken word, classical drama, oral tradition in west Africa (Griot) and beatpoetry. You dont have to like it,but you can at least respect it.
Also, if the content matter of rap does not appeal to you, try putting yourself in their shoes and see the social value of knowing what differences exist within society.
These "differences in society" you speak of....did they not exist to a much greater extent 50 years ago than they do today? Did you ever hear the Flamingos, the Orioles, the Platters, the Ink Spots, or any other vocalists from that tumultuous time 'talking' their songs, or droning on about bitches and ho's and niggas? You're not going to sell me on the idea that black people have it so much worse today.
Ofcourse, you need to account for time to change many things. Naturally that includes the way people talk. Take a look at some comments for random youtube videos or just on the street and notice how the words people use to talk to eachother are changed from 60 years ago. Cultures change, and there will always be people who embrace the changeand people who reject the change. But it doesn't say anything about something having musical value or not.
@hotsizzleakadafizz Rap is not music. And before you close your mind completely, listen. If we are talking about the real definition of music then in order for something to be considered music there must be at least a melody. Rap has rhythm but that's it. And if you would consider synth overlays "Rap music" uses as melody then you must think about what you're saying. Rap is poetry and poetry can be used in music but poetry is not music. Thus you can't really be comparing Rap to this video.
Far from the best version. If you want to hear this tune really swing check out Julio Gutierrez and his group on the Cuban Jam Session record. Gutierrez and the other musicians with him owned this tune.
Glenn Alton Miller gave his life for his country and made the music that Americans carried in their hearts as they fought in World War II. This is great music.
The american alcaimed musical hero of WWII, hailed by presidents and befriended by generals killed by an american bomber following orders over the channel, ironic
This song compose Mexican his name Alberto Dominguez Borras he was burn in San Cristobal de las Casas Chiapas April 21 1911 and died September 2 1975.
I WENT TO THE QUEEN MARY IN LONG BEACH CALIFORNIA AND THEY PLAYED THIS TYPE OF MUSIC ALL NIGHT LONG ON NEW YEARS EVE. I WILL DEFINITELY GO THIS YEAR TOO BECAUSE THIS MUSIC IS GREAT!
without a doubt is like Mr. Miller always said... I just have to find that particular sound in my music. Well, Mr Miller you certainly did, it has been resounding for over 60 years all over the world !!! Congratulations sir, you did it, may God keep you in his glory.
"Perfidia" (Spanish for "perfidy", as in faithless, treacherous or false) is a popular song written by Alberto Domínguez [1] (1911–1975), a Mexican composer and arranger born in the state of Chiapas, about love and betrayal. Aside from the original Spanish, other renditions exist, including English and instrumental versions. The English lyrics are by Milton Leeds. The song was published in 1939 and became a hit for Xavier Cugat in 1940.
@rickmfinancial thanks. rickmfinancial and to miss CharmingXD, This an all time favorite all over the world, as well as Consuelo Velazquez Besame Mucho form that period too.Big Bands like Xavier Cougat from Spain, Rafael Muñoz from Puerto Rico ,played this songs troughout U.S, Europe and Latin America during those WW2 years, lovely era.
THIS is what is meant when the word, music, is spoken. Real, extremely talented, musicians and adult vocalists with beautiful voices combining to make poetry in sound.
This song has the listener almost swaying with the tune and when the Modernaires start sing their voices flow along with this great Song and if u listen quick you hear the pianist's hit the piano key twice @ 1:21 even those very brief notes float with "sway" feeling! Great clip!
For my Dad...his favorite song... he said he used to hum this song on bombing missions to help him remember home...

Thanks!

Now this is music. The RAP today is absolutely garbage. The lyrics are discusting, and all the songs talk about is having lots of money, shooting cops, ect. I'm 16 years old, and this is the only style music I listen to. God Bless America!
WarBirdMan1 9 months ago 55

German rap is extremely well done, the mix of German and English make it something very unique.
hotsizzleakadafizz 4 months ago
@hotsizzleakadafizz
All garbage. Also, since you insinuated differently, I am fluent in six languages.
Any asshole can talk, but it takes actual talent to sing.
MISisback 4 months ago
@MISisback All garbage? LOL, go and make a rap song right now if it's soooo easy, Oh wait, you can't! Any asshole can talk, but it takes actual talent to create GOOD rap. I know plenty of people that can play instruments without knowing notes and can sing without any training...but I have yet to meet someone that can rap naturally, especially on the spot, aka a freestyle. Again, this is coming from a classical lover.
hotsizzleakadafizz 4 months ago

SoupSonYo 4 months ago
@SoupSonYo
MISisback 4 months ago
@MISisback Please do not be so closed minded to the many ways a human can express himself. Rap finds its roots in many classical forms of human auditory exression, including spoken word, classical drama, oral tradition in west Africa (Griot) and beatpoetry. You dont have to like it,but you can at least respect it.
Also, if the content matter of rap does not appeal to you, try putting yourself in their shoes and see the social value of knowing what differences exist within society.
Myrkman 4 months ago
@Myrkman
MISisback 4 months ago
@MISisback
Myrkman 3 months ago
@hotsizzleakadafizz Rap is not music. And before you close your mind completely, listen. If we are talking about the real definition of music then in order for something to be considered music there must be at least a melody. Rap has rhythm but that's it. And if you would consider synth overlays "Rap music" uses as melody then you must think about what you're saying. Rap is poetry and poetry can be used in music but poetry is not music. Thus you can't really be comparing Rap to this video.
