holy shit what kind of training does she get for this??? i'm only a violinist as a hobby for 10 years already and still amazed at what these kids could do :| great job though, i'm learning this piece right now and her playing has much soul
HOW?!HOW?!HOW?! and she's only 10??!?!? wth!???! wtf?!?!?! wtf!?!? i've been playin for almost like 6 years and i've never touched anything close to that in any way!!! soo excellenT!!! truly openned my eyes.
She needs to work on intonation. She is very talented, but to be great, her intonation has to be perfect. Not saying she is bad at all. She's very good.
You know, last time I watched one of her videos, I was thinking of you as another rising star. Now, this reminds me of Anne-Sophie Mutter when she was around your age. Your intonation, tone and vibrato have matured!
Yes, however much Anne-Sophie Mutter has accomplished when she was young, she doesn't appear to be that popular anymore. I personally don't really like her style of music.
But you never know where kids these days will go to, hopefully somewhere as far as the eye can see (:
Haha! I think Mutter has reached the point where her playing is stable - the usual bravura doesn't really strike many people.
Though, I like her interpretation. How she shifts the tempi, manipulates the vibrato(which albeit can get hysterical) and adjusts the dynamics appeal to me. Not to mention other recent works from modern composers that she executed meaningfully.
Major improvement in the violin playing compared to some of the videos where you were 9!! Much better use of bow, although you're still not making much use of bow speed. I would like to see you be able to use a much faster bow speed sometimes, and to be able to alter the bow speed in the middle a bow to help you shape the note. Good job!
2 sisters playing the violin and piano together...how cool is that?? Valerie plays the violin so well, that I think she deserves to be playing with a world-class orchestra, such as the Berlin Philharmonic. And then her sister can play through some piano concertos.
I love her freedom of movement!! I hope she doesn't change it at all. Some people move much, much more than she does! I think it helps the sound and expression. I wish my violin students would move more!
Actually, my violin professor just recently performed this, compared to him shes not moving at all. Plus when you're 6'3 like him moving around looks wildly exagerated. Nothing wrong with moving around. Anyways, I think she might want to work on phrasing....
And it seems to be true. I'm a "1st generation" and I turn 15 this year, but I'm still on ATCL (Dip. 1 Trinity) level and my friend (violinist) also turns 15 this year, but he's still on ARSM (Dip. 1 ABRSM) and LTCL (Dip. 2 Trinity) level, not to mention we both failed our ABRSM Grd 8.
Meanwhile, famous musicians like Bach and Mozart and Lang Lang had/have musical families.
There's even a "Discover Magazine" article about musical ability being genetic.
very hard to believe they are only 10 and 13 years, and she's been playing the violin for ONLY 3+years!!! They both are genius! They will be famous one day and we will see them at Carnegi Hall. I can't wait to hear her when she is old enough to play with full size violin! Super!
Valerie,so beautiful! You make such beautiful sound. your pharsing and musical sences are just amazing. very hard to believe you are only 10 years old. I loved all your playing. Congratulations!
That could be improved....
