  • The chorus goes "Singing bainne na mbó do na gamhna, and the juice of the barley for me".

  • What a great song - I must learn it on my fiddle!

  • flippen brilliant

  • I drink a fifth of whiskey a night and I tell you my friends its the only way to be! Drinking may hurt your liver and eventually kill you but my grandfather drank until he was fifty hard core and he is 73 but he has lunge cancer and no liver problems WTF! Im talking about a man who chugged whiskey by the pint and drank wine by the gallon well i hope i get liver cancer because I have the right to choose my death.

  • One of my favorites!

  • There will never be another Tommy Makem-R.I.P.....BTW, Happy St. Paddy's Day everybody. Erin Go Bragh!

  • Liam was such a great singer. RIP.

  • What is Juice of the barley?

  • "Juice of the Barley" means strong beer. I'm drinking Heineken right now. Not really a strong beer, but strong enough to make me sing along (:

  • In this song I think they mean whiskey made from barley not beer. Hence at the end he says he'll dance out his days drinking whiskey galore.

  • Sadly there will never be another group like the Clancys and Tommy Makem. Yes I know Tommy is still around but the whole group was great.

  • Fine song :) I had some juice already as a rule :)

  • thanks for this post. I LOVE this song. Give me the juice!

  • Best song I have ever heard!

  • lao is irish for calf

  • I love this song, thanks for putting it on. One little thing, the original gaelic is "bainne na mbo is an gamhna".

  • bainne is milk, mbo is a plural form of cow. Have any idea what gamhna is? =S

  • From wikipedia: Irish for "Goat" is "Gamhar", the plural being "Gamhna"

  • Calf!

  • @Khanstorm Gamhna means "calves" in Gaelic

  • is there a video for this song?

  • yeah it's got half dressed girls with big butts dancing around with people spraying champagne all over them and cruising in low-riders flashing gang signs.

  • And a drunken oul mid-wife went tipsy with joy,

as she danced round the floor with a slip of a boy.

Not the AA`s most poular song.

  • Classic!!!! Think i will go and have some juice of the barley.....
