It did'nt have four Turbo's either. It had 1 Turbo and 1 Supercharger . The turbo was made by KKK and was used for the low revs and then the Arbarth Supercharger took over at higher revs. it used both to elimate the turbo lag.
When using the special reacing fuels it put out between 480bhp - 500bhp.
RAC 1985 Lancia S4 put out 450 hp. At the end of Group B (Olympus 1986) there was 600-620 hp available because of "a special engine" like Alén said, only made for that last round of the series.
The S4 sounds this way because you can hear the supercharger along with the wastegate of the turbo at the same time, it's not because of a special turbo.

yes but todays wrc cars dont need a supercharger to eliminate turbo lag cause they have a anti lag system which keeps the turbo constanly spooled up
