  • AMAZING TIME SIGNATURE,AMAZING METERS,AMAZING FEEL AND GROOVE !!!!

    SICH A BADASS DRUMMER

  • my favorite drummer

  • Cool as fuck! Is this from Gary Chaffee's instructional vid?

  • wow, that kick is amazing.

  • is he playing single kick?

  • I loved that playing with the meter stuff, awesome!

  • jojojojoj excelente amigo!

  • Why is there a huge debacle going on about who is better. With drummers like carey and mover it is impossible to compare them, you just cant do it. so why are you all attempting to? its the stupidest shit i have ever seen. Danney carey is a fantastic drummer and Jonathon Mover is a spectacular drummer so why are you all arguing about who is better. when you get to the stage that they are at with drums you just cannot compare to other drummers. some people clearly dont understand drummers.

  • wtf is that off beat shit at 2:00

  • People who think Danny Carey is better know nothing about drumming. This is insane. Is that Chaffee stuff in the beginning? And that foot is off the hook.

  • @Jackinthehizzle People who argue about Danny Carey not being better obviously know nothing about drumming. This is simple, and offtune, and let's not forget lame. Do some research buddy

  • @Jackinthehizzle off beat, excuse me

  • @burlingamevideos, if you don't know what you're talking about, why do you post? Ever heard of Vinnie Colaiuta? Steve Gadd? Do you even know who Gary Chaffee is?

You're a steaming pile of douche, and I hope you get AIDS and die. Good day to you, sir.

  • @Jackinthehizzle Fuck those cock suckers. This is about Danny carey. You know he is better because you have no evidence otherwise

  • Good and nice drieve my Mr. Mover ... well he shure move you the listener around :)

  • I saw Jonathon back when he just finished recording with Satriani. he was more or less just a kid. He was incredible then. Its silly to argue over who is better then who. They are all unique and talented.

  • Nobody's got ANYTHING on Mover. He's one of THE most sought after studio or live drummers out there. Nuff said.

  • I think the reason people are mentioning Danny Careyis because a mis-labeled Jonathan Mover solo from time machine with Joe Satriani. I've often seen it labled as a Danny Carey Solo but that's preposterous. :D

  • Interesting comment dudes420, since Jonathan just recorded with Julian Lennon, and has Shakira, Fuel, Aretha Franklin and countless other artists to his credit. Can't imagine Danny Carey getting the gig with the Queen Of Soul or Shakira! Also, isn't this clip part of an educational video of Jonathan demonstrating particular techinques of Gary Chaffee...meaning, he's supposed to be 'showing off'' what he can do. Can you say "Jealous."

  • jonathan mover is nasty but just shows off so much, musicians like these can't even join normal bands and make music without going off on a 2 minute solo... except for danny carey who is bad ass but doesnt do gay shit like this HAAA... give me negatives bitches

  • nice wark on gost notes

  • This is The best drummer Satch ever had.

  • I agree!

  • Wow! Who is this guy?

  • Ever hear Joe Satriani's VERY first "LIVE" CD? With "Ice 9", etc. on it? Johnathan Mover was the drummer!! He seriously has some chops!!

  • thats some quality drumming...and different! all we have today are the joey jordison fanatics saying shit ...thats a real drummer

  • BURNING!!!!!!

  • such a good musician. Its too bad hes not that well known. That Modern Drummer sample from a few years ago was the shit

  • I'm Tweeked.... anybody?

  • yep, i hear it.

  • Didn't Mover play with Satch a few times, way back when?

  • Yes, indeed.. that was him... kicks ass, huh?

  • Nice! I really dig his playing! I especially liked the bit that starts at 1:58, ok, I'll go practice now :-D

  • Really cool the way he broke the time up. Great balance of power and finesse right up there with Greg Bisonette, Simon Phillips, etc. Also, his drums sound beautiful and he is getting great definition with his bass drum. Every note is well articulated. Something to aspire towards, kids!

  • legend

  • nice stickings with shuffle bass at 55 sec jon! recommend any material buddy? cheers! super pocket and super chops!

  • finally a drummer great video

  • Really solid playing. Great ideas. Talk about a back beat!!! WoW! Thats some powerful stuff.

  • ...Thank you Jonathan

  • I'm also into destroying Time. Nice

  • fast foot

  • lol that snare drum....sounds like my garbagebin

  • a student of chaffee licks... sweet

  • Nuts!!! Awsome!

  • Anyone knows what head is on the snare? A clear emperor or something? I dig the sound and combination with that shell !

  • On the snare he uses Evans G2 Clear (hydraulic), hi-hat is a Paiste sound Formula 14".

  • great sounding hats...wonder what they are?

  • Dude, then don't watch...just listen...jesus.

  • I saw him today @ adams drumworld it was totaly awesome

  • haha, he's playing today at the adams drumworld festival in the netherlands

  • I really like his style

  • He is from Peabody, Mass. He took lessons growing up at Donn Carrs Drum Studio, where I bought my first new set of Ludwigs. A wicked nice dude.I remember seeing him play with a funk/fusion group called The Three Little Pigs.

  • i love that groove good trick in bass drum

  • Other than Buddy Rich, this is the drummer who made me ditch the double bass thing. I saw him at a Zildian Day way back and still to this day have never heard single bass like him. Its unreal. Everyone was trying to see if he had a dbl pedal....Nope! Anyone remember the floppy record that came in an MD back in the 80's of him playing some off the wall odd time sig??? He's really underated.

  • Are you referring to the July 1989 MD sound supplement called "Put Up or Shut Up"

  • That's it! It has the metal sounding guitar sound, very odd time/drum fills and then that latin style "bridge" in the song. Very cool. I'm sure my Dad has that floppy record somewhere.

  • Yeah this guy is great, i´ve had that famous solo from the Satriani, but i never knew where it came from and who the drummer was, but now that i know him, there are still no vids:P

  • There really should be more vids of this guy. linear grove at 0:47 is the best linear groove ever. If anybody out there can write it out for me. e-mail it to me. let me know.

  • I remember meeting Mover about 17-20 years ago when he was just about to go on tour with Satriani. I think it was just before he was on the cover of MD magazine. What a nice guy, and a fine talent.

  • great man!!!!

  • An incredibly underated drummer thank god someone posted this! This probably the only decent footage of him playing anywhere!Have seen him in clinic twice...amazing drummer and a nice chap as well.

  • Paura

  • @andreaspaziale Si,però non è un drum solo. Sta eseguendo dei ritmi, che è abbastanza diverso(io preferisco questi ultimi al solo).

  • Nice groove! Why is Mover so non-profilated, with no vids @ drummerworld and youtube..? He has one of the most known drum-solos with "Time Machine" from Joe Satriani. Love his drumming!! :D

  • great tuning and foot work
