  • 3 people are deaf and wish they could listen to this song..

  • As Godlike as Guthrie is, I gotta say Ritchie kotzens solo in this tune is my fave on this album.

  • Salamanders in the sun

  • I like his clean parts much more than I do his distorted shreds

  • Нема бољег Guthrie Govan-а од ваљевског Guthrie Govan-а ! :)

  • "Ner ner" is the swedish words for "Down down".

    Guthrie owns!

  • Reminds me of Steve Vai's Building the church.

  • G3.... there is not G3 Guthrie would all at once xD!!!!!

  • this track stands like a mot**rfu**in giant ! You hear all the great guitarplayers type of sound pass you by at one point, Eddy van Halen, Frank Zappa, Scott Henderson, Hendrix.. etc. And @ 3:33 Floyd...Epic... His fingerwork is amazing, and it has a deep soul and harmonical essence, no stream of 8th notes

My favorite guitar player most def !!!

  • @5e8 But forgot to add; he really has his own style!

  • @5e8 dude theres more than just those lol i was analyzing it.

  • g4 - Govan, Gambale, Shawn lane, Eric Johnson. - It will be something ORGASMIC))

  • @Marubache Shawn Lane passed away in 2004 =/ (I'm not sure)

  • Just so you know G3 was founded by Joe Satriani..

  • G3: Guthrie, Van Halen, Greg Howe

  • He Is The Next GEneration Of Steve Vai

  • The ultimate G3 would contain Guthrie Govan & Alex Hutchings & Greg Howe

  • omg

  • This is one of his best jam in 6/8, the half time cut he does pulls you back then kicks you back forward, he also does an awsome IV, ii, #V, I, chord structure for the slow down part! Fantastic, keep it on repeat. There is always something new to listen for :D

  • @AlexanderHenriKean How did you figure that out?

  • @Chandlorexia I had his Album on repeat for the past few months and figured out most of the parts on guitar (I can't play all of what he does), you can count like like a slow 2/4, but the feel is in a quicker 6/8. Listen to 1:00 - 1:30 the tempo is the consistent until the part that's one bar in half time (still 6/8). The Slow part from 4:17 - 5:04, He solos two bars over each chord Bb, Gm, C#, F. He plays the solo mostly in Bb Lydian (relative to F Major) except over C#(which changes the key)

  • From 3:30- 5:04 is just ORGASMIC!!

  • Perfect!

  • Perfect!

  • My favorite jam of the album !!

  • i wish i could favorite song twice...

  • G3:

    Guthrie Govan

    Tosin Abasi

    Greg Howe

  • @Chandlorexia

    G3:

    Guthrie Govan

    Brett Garsed

    Allan Holdsworth

  • @Chandlorexia G3= Guthrie Govan and his Guitar

  • @Chandlorexia That would be amazing...

  • I was just thinking... Lyrics with this would've been awesome too!

But it would probably screw up the awesome instrumentals a bit :/

  • Does anybody know if there is a backing track for this song somewhere?

  • which one is richie kotzens solo?

  • @dan22691 2:02 Kotzen (given note selection and overall articulation)

3:44 Guthrie (the bends give him away plus his flawless phrasing)

6:18 Guthrie again (for too many reasons)

  • which one is richie kotzens solo?

  • u jelly?

  • @mrjones918 u peanut butthurt?

  • @MetalzShredah550 u mango snowball froze?

  • No me gusta? Es un chiste?

  • Wooooowwww. I only found out about Guthrie a week ago and I can't stop searching up his vids. His songs are amazing...can't believe he wrote Wonderful Slippery Thing when he was in his early twenties

  • two deaf...

  • 2 people doesn't have an idea of quality music!

  • Yay, a Guthrie vid with no whiny bitching going on. Saying that, only thing you can argue about this tune, is which bit is the best.

  • @Hardysamnin That isn't even possible with this piece either, it's so perfect; every second of it

  • My dream G3 - Guthrie Govan, Paul Gilbert and John Petrucci

  • @satchizgod Petrucci Satriani ang Govan :Q_

  • @Darkvinx88 That will also do I'm a satriani fan too..my name says it all :D

  • @satchizgod eheh :D

  • My "Dream G3" would be Guthrie Govan, Shawn Lane and Allan Holdsworth

  • This song really has emotion, I love it!

  • is my favorite song of all time!!!!

Guthrie Govan is my guitar hero!!!

  • I lied Rithcie Kotzen's solo: great playing and great song.

  • @the9ingredients The guitar parts were recorded in Kotzens LA studio. The album was produced by Jan Cyrka, you're right - but I've heard Kotzen had a lot of input too

  • Amazing. It almost sounds like the guitar is taunting me.. "Ner, ner ner ,ner ner"

  • Lets sign Guthrie Govan up on G3 with Paul Gilbert..:))

  • Sounds like Vai, but with some taste.

  • @Hardysamnin Exactly. That's exactly what it is.

  • Very cool sound

  • It's not a cake, but it's definitely erotic...

  • Now this is how you play electric guitar, not how those metalheads play senseless sweeping. With Guthrie, his licks are saying something and are progressing. just listen to it,

  • @jryuwah It's not all senseless sweeping. There are a ridiculous amount of metal bands that focus mainly on great riffs and songwriting not just sweeping. There are bands that over abuse sweep picking (mainly deathcore and metalcore bands) but there are others who don't.

  • @MetallicOpeth Yeah sorry about that comment, I was mainly basing it off of the stereotypical metal band. haha

  • just...so goddamn mothertitty fucking good

  • um fuck g3 dude, guthries a world of his own!!

  • .....me gusta....ijijji

  • The phrasing and feel are sick, the combination of bends, slides and picked notes is just UNBELIVEABLE!! The whole song is like a story :)

  • It is a fucking shame that only 20,000 people have seen this -.-

  • @cant3flip Others have already bought the cd ;-)

  • Richie Kotzen plays this track with Govan.

Homework: try to identify which one!

    Both amazing guitar players!

  • @jazzforano I'm almost sure from 2:01-2:31 is a Richie Kotzen solo, sounds like his style to me. Idk though.

  • @digitusmedio yep, it's him. he plays a solo as a guest in this song.

  • @digitusmedio Richie Kotzen produced the album, and had a guest solo on this song :)

  • guthrie is THE man,i met him in rome when he came with kilminister and he is not just a great guitarist but eavena great person,he let us take a photo of him layed on ours hand just like a fish :-)

  • yup...we need to petition ...gg for g3!!!

  • @synesthesia67 You cant join G3 if your too good for the 2 other guys. Guthrie was immedialty disqualified when Vai and satch heard his name!

    lol

  • @TheHornet79 Lol bro Vai is amazing too... listen to some of his songs from the Seventh Song album..specifically "Boston Rain Melody" and you'll see what I'm talking about. Guthrie is also amazing his technicality is out of this world... So much music (theory) knowledge. Satch is good too! Haha jm i know you never said they were never good I'm sure you respect them.

  • No dislikes so far...I'll be checking back to exterminate the first person who thumbs this video down.

  • This is without doubt the most Epic tune I have ever heard.

  • EROTIC~

  • seroiusly does anybody know where to buy this album?

  • @PennybagDarrell on cornford records website

  • oh man first time i listen this man ........ O.O i cant say any word im just freeze ........ O.O

  • 2:32 to 3:02 , that's the best fucking part ever in a song.

  • 6.17 + is so epic. i still can't get over it

  • Richie Kotznen's solo at 2:04 is Epic...my favorite solo of the whole cd.

  • Guthrie plays line similar to the 90s fusion petrucci.

  • @DTPetrucci123490th I find the big shred session in "FIVES" similiar to some of Petrucci's pieces/songs...also Guthrie's playing is alot like the work John does in Liquid Tension Experiment.

Imagine them both jamming with Tony Macalpine and Jordan Rudess on keyboards, it would be truly bliss. >__<

  • @tekken3y0sh1m1tsu1 That would be amazing. I believe that the liquid tension sessions were the pinnacle of Petrucci's playing, he went down hill from there. It was all about the Ibanez JPM's( which I have btw check out my videos) and his intelligent playing back then.

  • Imagine a G3 with Guthrie...

  • @franad Impossible, he's too good for playing with vai.

A Guthrie, shawn lane and frank gambale G3 would be realy realy amazing : )

  • @SweeetPicker - It would be slightly more than amazing considering not all of them are alive :)

I'd settle for Kotzen, Howe and Govan though ;)

  • @Hardysamnin Yeah, it's sad, when you know that kind of G3 is impossible ^^

By the way ... I think theses guitarists are too humble for playing at the G3 : D

  • @franad it couldnt happen. too many people would die due to overdose of godliness.

  • @franad it should be a g wit vai, satch, gilbert and govan...man that would kick some serious ass!

  • @franad Imagine Guthrie if his album was put on the net for free.... and he and the people that have supported him would have no way of paying the rent ???

  • @CORNFORD100 Besides, ya know, performing.

  • @franad@franad Imagine Guthrie if his album was put on the net for free.... and he and the people that have supported him would have no way of paying the rent ???

  • @CORNFORD100 besides his job and performing and doing clinics and all that ;)

  • @CORNFORD100 Guthrie earns £300k a year lol, and its not from his albums.

  • @cerelilqt thats like, what...$630k?

  • @PennybagDarrell On relative terms, its prob like earning $600k in america, but as the pound is so weak atm, its about $450-500k

  • @franad Fuck G3 imagine Guthrie! lol

  • @franad He'd slaughter them all.

  • @franad yeah it could be three shows of just him!

  • @franad

i would LOVE to see a g3 with guthrie govan, marco sfogli, and kiko loureiro. i know joe satriani is always in one, but i would like to see one with 3 guitarist excluding him for once. that lineup would be my dream.

  • @franad

he would upstage everybody that has ever been in a g3. if he went with yngwie malmsteen then yngwie would probably cry because he couldn't outshred him lol.

  • @YngwieAteMe guthrie's not a shredder. his guitar playing is very melodic and smooth in comparison to yngwie's constant overplaying.

  • @911violentagro

wow, can you be any more close minded than that? who said shredding couldn't be melodic and smooth? im certain that guys like guthrie govan and eric johnson have proven that shred can be very melodic and very smooth.

  • @franad

    Next G3 i want Guthrie Govan + Kiko Loureiro + Greg Howe (or Allan Holdswort). A fusion-jazz G3 :)

  • @colpoinfernaleomicid Well Joe Satriani would have to be in it. He owns the brand

  • @franad Now you're talking!

  • @franad I don't think Vai and Satch would want to be blown off the stage every night...

  • @franad Guthrie, Alex Hutchings, & Paul Gilbert...yez.

  • @franad lol G3 would look abased if guthrie would show his skills, hahahaha guthrie plays in way higher level. Guthrie should form an own G3 with guys such as Greg Howe, Richie Kotzen etc......they have his level

  • @franad Guthrie is G3 :P Guthrie Govan's Guitar 3 g's G3

  • @franad the ultimate G3 would be as follows

    Guthrie Govan

    Alex Hutchings

    Paul Gilbert

    :D

  • 3:52 ~ 3:57 DAMN !

  • Has anyone figured out the chords between 3:33 and 5:04?

  • Comparing Govan to Vai or Satriani should be a crime. Govan towers over them with his mass amounts of skill. Own this CD :) Hope he makes another.

  • i just bought erotic cakes and it's probably the greatest instrumental guitar album in history. this is my favorite song at the moment.

  • @Fluffypopcicle

Hey where did you buy Erotic Cakes? I have looked everywhere...including the label itself and cannot find it. Any tips?

  • @Fretfreak83 Cornford records dot com

  • @Fretfreak83 The music store around here downloaded it and burnt it for me in a matter of minutes, perhaps a music store around there could do the same for you.

  • Lovely

  • reminds Steve Vai - 'Fire Garden' album

  • just no words to describe how amazingly brilliant the vibe to this tune is. love the lydian to mixolydian for the solo parts, just an overall awsome sound. Epic tune, more please Guthrie :/

  • the first lead is ritchie kotzen yeahh

  • @NikkaAguilarHipolito Try to listen to Kotzen sometimes... it's the second solo starting at 2:03 :)

  • @cavvgn - I thought it was the first solo? O_o

  • @Hardysamnin No man, it Kotzen starts at 2:03. If you notice, the first one sounds a bit like Steve Vai and that's Govan. Kotzen, well... sounds like himself :)

  • @cavvgn - Not heard enough of him to say if it sounds like him or not. I would say the second solo is my fave in the tune though, very satriani'esque. Might have to go have a look at some more of his stuff then.

  • ...delicious.

  • yeah man the music is savory

  • @ninjastep87 yeah those cakes taste pretty good
