its called a re coat and you need to test a spot in a high traffic area and a low traffic are to see if the finish will adhere. any experienced wood floor refinisher can do this. problem is you can't change the colour unless you use a tint but even then it will show the peeing more.

I have looked into this method , and have found that alot of people were not happy with it.
