  • Is there a special name for the miniature piano he's playing at the beginning?

  • this is a combination of my favorite things on earth. tallest man on earth is my favorite artist and these days is my favorite song.

  • great

  • I will force him to marry me one day

  • @eeini I was actually just thinking that... You'll have to fight me for him!

  • @amy87742 Game on! ;D

  • What's the piano at the beginning? Not the kalimba but the little piano.

  • this is such a beautiful cover. ahhh.

  • Proud as hell when I went to The Music Inn's website and what do I see? The Tallest Man!

  • The first video when you type in "these days" is nicos, which I think sounds quite retarded. So I did my part by telling them to peep this version.

  • @thatONEmachine It's cool to have favorites, but Nicos' version is the one that pioneered this song into what it is today, it hardly sounds "retarded".

  • @SSoloman87 Got that right. It did pioneer and propel the song to what it is now. But I've seen sole credit given to the wrong musician. Not the writer of the song.

  • @thatONEmachine so many people are hung up on that version... but imho it's not too pleasing to listen to

  • @fuzzydizzle it's a full-force bummer of a song, I don't know if "pleasing" was ever the feeling I tried to get from it.

  • I've heard people say that his voice is bad...probably strict proponents of Dylan.

  • I showed my friend this video and he told me that The Tallest Man on Earth had a terrible voice. I roughly hit him on the shoulder

  • @TheAlexanderPratt you should've roughly hit him in the face. hehehe.

  • :( this song makes me cry

  • there's sooo many cool instruments in that store, i would love to be in there

  • what cool store. and this was a pretty creative way to do this cover

  • I love how he films the other people in this store. It reminds you that this is in fact real. It actually happened.

  • His voice is great with just him walking around singing.

Most people have to slave hours to achieve this great voice.

He truly has a gift. Wonderful.

  • Inspirational person

  • im sitting here drunk and lonely

    and i understand this song

    thank you

and would really like to own that room

  • @Bo0meRs1 Love your comment!

  • @Bo0meRs1 I love the simple sincerity.

  • It is most definitely THE Best cover of this song I've ever heard.

  • as much as I love Elliott Smith and his cover of this, the Tallest Man On Earth is fucking unbelieveably talented

  • Havent yet heard a bad song from him. Amazing Artist!

  • I might be a straight male, but I still got pretty sad when I saw that ring on his finger.

  • Comment removed

  • Wonderful place to sing a wonderful a song! :-)

  • You can tell a lot about any particular person by knowing what version of "These Days" is their favorite. I quite like The Tallest Man on Earth, but if you think this is better than Nico's you probably have some growing up to do.

  • Comment removed

  • @CityOfDaughters AGREED

  • idn about tallest man on earth, but he is lanky as shit

  • Does anybody know what tuning he plays this in?

I've been trying to figure it out for the longest time, and I've got in figured in open C, but I'm playing different chord shapes than he is - and it makes his hammer-on's impossible...

  • @davidchaulk Its in standard tuning.

  • @davidchaulk standard actually, with capo on fifth fret. Chords he uses is C, C/B Am Am/G and F and some other versions of those chords :) thats what i know :)

  • i like that you can hear the clicking of the keys

  • simply beautiful :)

  • that faggy kid in the army jacket is the luckiest kid to walk into that store at that exact time

  • what shop is this?

  • @pegasus262 he is at The Music Inn. Its located on west 4th street. The best/coolest instrument shop in NYC : )

    Just sayin...

  • imagine that. what a treat twould it have been to have walked into that music shop on that brisk day in new york city

  • Best version of this song. He has put Nico to shame, and done justice to the beautiful lyrics written by a young Jackson Browne.

  • just simply beautiful

  • Damn, i gotta get one of those bad ass mustaches.

  • He should try that at the library.

  • This is so fucking awesome

  • @zkagtrendy its the music in on west 4th street in greenwich village, NYC

  • Comment removed

  • @zkagtrendy Greenwich Village. You'll know it when you see it. It says The Music Inn in huge letters and it sits in between a head shop and a sex shop. :3 By far my favorite place in NYC when I visited. (That, the MOMA, and the Pearl St. district, and a couple spots in Williamsburg.)

  • beautiful vid

  • I can't wait to see him in september when he comes to san francisco...

  • @b017ni3 I'll be at that show too. I have a feeling it's going to be one of the best I've been to.

  • notice on most of the videos with quality and peaceful music like this there arent any bitching and hate comments going on. i think that says something about the music

  • @zt122 fuck you

  • @tommy2tyme1 lol

  • This was filmed at the Music Inn, in NYC.

  • One of the greatest songs ever written. Jackson Browne is a timeless poet/songwriter with a beautiful voice and plays every guitar under the sun excellently. This guy's cover is good/different. He is obviously influenced by Tom Waits. Everyone should sing/cover this amazing song. It is a timeless song.

  • I want to make love to his voice

  • where is this?

  • much more melodic than dylan

  • @fatchicksrhrd2kidnap shoot me but i think dylans over rated and a bit of a prick :)

  • tuning, anyone?

  • @HigashiSeiun Standard tuning

  • yes please..i must really know where this is!?

  • This is, by far, the best cover of this song...Just saying...

  • @MrRyanduff I think you meant version.

  • indy hipsters are fail

  • @MoofIllidan As is your spelling, sonny.

  • You can hear little licks in drying of the lawns in this :)

    Awesome

  • Where is this??????

  • Comment removed

  • You people that are arguing, it's pretty lame, why don't you guys e-mail each other and discuss this VERY IMPORTANT matter.

As for the video, it's perfection and it's The Tallest Man on Earth, end of story.

  • Stop pretending to be Kristian!

  • TMOE is not Dylan, nor does he intend to be. Listen and respect his music. Ill go out on a limb and say that you dont have the balls to be who you are and he does. STFU about Dylan.

  • The problem with the Dylan v. Mattson debate is context. When Dylan was in his prime, music meant something. These days...

  • he is Dylan with much better guitar skills.

  • your retarded

  • I'm not saying that he is better than dylan, I'm just saying that he is a better guitar player than dylan ever dreamed to be, and he has one album, not a 40 year old carreer.

if my mother dropped me when I was a child, yours must have used you as a boxing bag!

  • how do you figure that? better guitar player than dylan ever dreamed to be? in terms of what? technical abilities? did you have a personal chance to examine Matsson and Dylan go head to head in a guitar-off?

this isn't fucking guitar hero kid. matsson is good. but he's no dylan, in every aspect. playing guitar isn't just about playing the damn instrument. dylan wrote much better songs with his guitar than matsson ever dreamed of. so go blame your fucking mother for dropping you

  • No! Playing guitar is about playing the instrument, not about writing songs. We are talking about PLAYING! And yes, Matsson is way, way better!

  • you're an idiot. guitar is simply a medium for an artist to express themselves. of course there are different ways to express yourself with a guitar, but both Matsson and Dylan aren't some technical maestros like Jimi Hendrix and Clapton, etc.

  • Therefore, there is no reason to compare their guitar skills. It's not their game. They write songs with lyrics and melodies.

you are the type of kid who would say Yngwei is a better guitar player than Jimi Hendrix would ever dreamed to be. Seriously, go get your head checked out.

  • Oh, ok, now you're talking without knowing me or what I think or like. I'm not as young as you think I am, I've been playing guitar for 14 years, having Hendrix and Page as inspirations, as far as blues rock guitar goes. I don't play much classical guitar, but I know that Segovia, John Williams... are great guitar players, better than some of your guitar "Gods". So don't talk abou what you don't know

  • His voice seems very affected to me. Is he not swedish?

  • @tadhg66 he sure is 100% swedish

  • @tadhg66 Yup.

  • @ tadhg66 he is swedish. he has a peculiar last name that escapes me, but it's true. at the same time he sounds more authentically rustic and appalachian than most roots-esque artists these days.. HA. THESE DAYS... :)

  • Mattson!

  • Jackson Browne is a genius,

Kristian Matsson (Tallest Man) is genius.

    Simple as this right?

  • One of my favourite songs, it makes me cry every time. Beautiful!

  • The nails are for finger-picking :-)

  • damn this guy has a true passion for music and expresses it in a way we can all share it with him. Great music

  • his voice sounds like a chain smoker/folk singer

    it really works for him

  • I love the way the man and the boy walk in the store and don't really notice the playing of the tallest man on earth :)

  • I had the opportunity to meet Kristian at the House of Blues in Dallas, and i goota say he is one of the most down to earth musicians out there. If you ever get the chance to see him live...DO IT!! He deserves alot more credit than what he is given..buy his cd on Amazon. You wont be dissapointed.

  • what a beast. anybody notice that that guitar only had 4 strings?

  • that's crazy talk! I most definitely see 6 strings on that fine instrument. but even still, he is amazing.

  • my bad

  • it had all of them.

  • One of my favourite songs being covered by my favourite artist!

How am I only discovering this now!?

  • Wish he would release this cover on an album. Would buy 10 copies of it in case of an apocalypse.

  • this is great

  • One of the most amazing portrayals of talent I've seen in a long time, I'm seriously in awe that so few have seen this video.

  • this place is heavenly.

  • this is gold.

  • epic video

  • He has an amazing voice
