Michael's song about the Indians is kind of a metaphor for his life. The old Indians (the old classical musicians like Segovia) couldn't make it rain, didn't have the spirit to nurture his soul and have it grow. The young Indians (the rock musicians) could call on the rain spirit without end and only had to play classical music to make it stop. Michael has sided with the young Indians. He has long hair, plays pop songs, dresses casually and writes his own music (forbidden for classical players).
God, I hate this style of guitar...I can't eat enough to throw up like feel I need to. Makes me think of Dave Mathews...glad HE's pretty much gone. Old dead European white guys have something you don't Mike. A legacy.
I have to say. I just picked up an acoustic guitar and Michael Chapdelaine is giving me a lot of motivation to play. He's doing some pretty amazing stuff there.
I have to disagree with you 123. I think the audiences are small because it is a very specific genre of music; solo fingerstyle guitar, no vocals. The average person can't relate to those million notes a minute going by, especially when there isn't a catchy (or sometimes in modern fingerstyle, even discernible) melody. Part of Tommy Emmanuel's appeal is that he plays lots of arrangements of popular songs, and the ones he writes are often very melodic.
That's true , ostly because people simply don't know talent . They go for image and pretty faces . This guy has more ability in his fingers than all the pop idol wanabees put together , but will never get that audience .

Just starting out but playing some classic rock and whatever else I find that isn't too awful hard.
