ha ha. I hope Im not the only one who noticed that Jane kicked lizzie under the table when she asked Mr.Collins if his complements presead from the impulse of the moment. atleast thats what it looked like!
Oh how I would love some conversation for conversation's sake right now, but it's hard when your roommate just plugs into the TV every evening. What a lost art!
@lacrosseplayer49 Probably because it is nothing like the book! There are scenes in this film which never occured in the original story; take his proposal to Lizzie for example. The television series was bang on for the period, the characters and the book itself.
i think its even more amazing how people spoke in those days... and what about. conversation for conversations sake. and since they do it so much each new question and statement becomes more sophisticated and philosophical, probably because they dont have the TV or computer to be distracted by.
its so amazin how respect and manners ws of such great importance back in those days...a mean if tht was tday and mr collins offered to read a 'sermon' each sister would have found sm kind of excuse to nt be present.....i think in a way its wt make period dramas so funny and amazing

funniest moment in the movie. "Indeeed, Indeed... very agreeable alternative." translation -->she's female, she'll do. Mr Collins is too practical, and un-romantically regular, must be the mullet.
Mr.Bingley's stupid sister reminds me of my stuck up instructor. I think she's trying to make Lizzie feel like a minority by saying all that shit about women having to know so much to be considered a woman.
@yigoalie Up until early 20th century, it was common for full cousins to marry whether they were Catholic or not. In your own family tree, you will likely come across it somewhere . It was common among the gentry & Royalty. because it kept their estates "in the family". Queen Victoria married one of her cousins , Keeping the blood royal! Now we know that close breeding produces idiocy, and passes on disease. Victoria spread Haemophelia & Porphuria. throughout the european Royal families,
stephanie meyer is full of herself then. I never knew about twilight until the movie came out...even then i only read the series out of curiosity....BIG mistake..and i regret it dearly. Also, she did NOT write the fourth book i'm sure. The rest is a bunch of over emotional balony.....
I like the conversatioin between lizzy and her friend about mr. collins. A total blatant explanation for the ppl. viewing the movie who have never read the book. obviously her friend would know exactly why mr. collins would get the house!
1:08 - Love the way Lizzie quickly snaps her book shut after Fitzy adds, "And of course she must improve her mind by extensive reading," ha ha. It's as if at this point she wishes to avoid the least chance of him taking a fancy to her, lol.
hmmmm that clergyman outfitt that mr collims is wearing looks soooooo much better on edmund from mansfield park bit the 1991 and 2005 versions they are are pair of hottie totties!!!
I find the director's apparent obsession with sex (in regard to the characterization of Mr. Collins) an unfortunate detraction from the movie's overall excellence. While I haven't read the novel, I find it difficult to believe that any writer of the late 18th/early 19th century would disparage the clergy in such a crude, disrespectful way. It's part and parcel for practically everything the film industry produces today. I just hate to see it happen in the context of an otherwise.great story.
