  • 4:10 makes this song so much better... John Mayer is a fucking beast live.

  • What kinda guitar is that, a seagul?

  • jesus robbie is just killing it on lead. that guy could play the most beautiful melody in his sleep

  • @lukeandrewchesser Yes and at 4:15 it sounds as though Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits had just walked on stage and started to play. It sounds just like Dire Straits guitar work, which is a huge compliment to him. They are a band among the elite in my opinion and he could easily step in without missing a beat. And old Mayer is no shmuck with the guitar either.

  • i think its missing something, oh, Taylor Swfit's voice. haha i dont know i just think it suits the song, Taylor's voice in the back ground.. you know.. oh but whatever. its JOHN MAYER! :D

  • Only John Mayer can replace John Mayer. Haha.

  • Awesome performance. Sounds like the studio version!!!!

  • I think no one performs live bettr than John

  • btw.Steve Jordan is just killin the drums.Fantastic,Groovy & Smooth as always.

  • it would have been nice if Taylor swift joined him.

  • Why do they always tuck Sean Hurley (the bassist) away in the back next to the drums? He's nice to look at tooooo!!!!!! When he was in Vertical Horizon, he was more active and visible on stage. So talented too!

  • wtf the back up singer on the right not even doin her job she look the other way at the begening of the video

  • Kind of strange seeing him playing Lindsey Buckingham's Model 1 - Great guitar though, love it!

  • isn't that a Lindsey Buckingham style guitar????

  • man i wish i was at that gig

  • hes is just amazingg i love him

  • 3 kesha justin bieber and a=someother gay vocalist that can't sing

  • Love this performance...

  • Good song however I dont understand why he abandoned his guitar recently on his last album. JM is a far better guitarist than singer but this last album he didnt let the guitar shine

  • he sounds very bad here..wow..not good enough john

  • That's a Rick Turner Lindsay Buckingham edition guitar he's playing. If John Mayer thinks he can be as tasteful a player as the Fleetwood Mac legend, he's entirely mistaken. It's pretty sickening to watch this, actually.

  • @MrBillCarleton It's a guitar, get over yourself. Should we dismantle any guitar player that uses a Fender Strat, as well, out of fear it will offend Clapton or the late Hendrix? Or should no one be allowed to play a Les Paul standard because of Angus Young? If it makes you sick to watch it, close your eyes...or just don't watch it at all.

  • @kyle4thenight great point, but didn't Angus Yound play an SG?

  • @wellsm3 Yes he did, my apologies

  • 3:57 haha, that's like karaoke - he's using a screen...

  • @Schmison many artists use them these days..even paul mccartney. its normal

  • what guitar does john mayer use?

  • In my humble opinion this is John Mayer's best song so far. That's saying something because there have been some good ones. Sounds even better with Taylor. Concentrate on your fantastic music John and stay out of the tabloids.

  • i wonder if he feels alone as the song sounds without Taylor...

  • great great.....he knows his fleetwood mac and bought himself a buckingham guitar

  • can someone put the lyrics of the song in minute 4:35 to the end??

  • Love how he's always doing something new.

  • john mayer is so good at live performances

  • dude this guy is the goofiest guy in the entire world! good musician though.

  • I don't know if it's just me, but In the beginning, it sounds kind of country? Dunno, maybe it's just me.

  • @no1neko

Well, Taylor Swift does sing this song with him on the album...if you want to call Taylor Swift country that is...(no offense meant if you like Taylor Swift. She's just not my cup o' tea.)

  • @drmrboy2002 No offense taken :D She isn't my cup o' tea either

  • I love when he brakes down....what an atmosphere!

  • John Mayer +1

  • Is that the Lindsey Buckingham Ax?

  • @brandonkeeley Yeah it is! It's a Rick Turner Model 1 if I recall correctly. Pretty sweet seeing someone else playing it other than Lindsey in my opinion.

  • his voice seems a little off at this gig as a whole...

  • the worst band line up he's had in a while...

i love steve jordan cos he pens the drum parts but i think JJ is a MUCH better, steadier, tighter live player. funny...i think JJ plays SJ's parts better than SJ...lol!! robbie is great DRH is still great...he def should bring the horns back and dela/pino and the previous keys player...this band seems like it's a recylcled/washed up WTLI band...

  • What is the song at 4:15?

  • @nicolitox "Let a Man Be Lost" an unreleased Battle Studies track he never finished. And nope, it hasnt been leaked, we can only get a snippet of its glory as an extended bridge within Half Of My Heart.

    :( One day, maybe...

  • i dig the lyndsey buckingham guitar

  • where's taylor?? sounds crap without her...

  • What is the song at 4:15?

Is it a real song or something he just made up on the spot?

  • @randombebe He just made it up on the spot.

  • the end is beautifull!!!

  • i was born in the arms of imaginary friends.... this guy is a fucking genious. seriously no one would hav thought of such line. this tells so neatly how much of a genious this man is

  • Robbie's playing adds so much. So perfect. Love the breakdown too

  • YEAH!!!!he's caoming to NZ LOVE this track

  • oh fuck the renaissance guitar! Gotta love Robbie's Duesenberg on this one.

  • john mayer is so timeless :)

his music has always been so great. his music keeps soft rock alive.

i can see this song being one of those songs that'll be playing on soft rock stations 20 years

    from now :)

its a shame how long it took me to realize how great his music truly is.

  • Agreed. His douchey behavior used to annoy me to the point that it negatively effected my enjoyment of his music, but now that I don't care and can just listen to it...his music is incredible.

  • Im just wondering...what are his douchy behaviours? Like, what has he done?

  • Just some of the things he says make it look like he's going out of his way to sound like a cool, artsy, musician. It seems like sometimes he's more about his look or what he says as opposed to just keeping it about the music, and not worrying about any of the other bullshit. Because that's all that it really is, bullshit. When you boil it all down, all people really want is for you to make good art (in this case good music), and everything else is, and should be, secondary. /diatribe

  • @finski8 True, that makes sence. But in a way doesn't everyone strive to be unique and an artsy musician?

  • @cookycritic you're sooo right

  • what kind of guitar is he playing?

  • the company who makes it is renaissance guitar company. and the style is a model one

  • @Gabrielitoarocha Rick Turner Model one. Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac has played them for years.

  • DRH looks kanye west here . O_O i hate kanye . GAAHH .

  • regardless of how good or bad or uninventive this song may be, it was a smart BUSINESS decision. Pairing up with one of the most popular female singers today (Taylor Swift) will cause more fans to listen to Mayer's work if they didn't already.

  • couldnt you just imagine Ry Cooder playing slide on this?

  • This is the best song of his last record... but the truth is Continuum was wayyyy better!!!

  • I kinda like the song and I do so with most of his work, but sometimes it's hard to believe that this is the same guy that blew my mind with his performance of "Out of my mind" on his "where the light is"-dvd.... Pity he doesn't exploit his potential to it's fullest, even though I like the poppy stuff aswell.

  • There`s a time and place for evrything ;)

  • I can understand the yawning by the audience in this song...

  • fred what are you talkin about. he does this great live its a great song off the new cd the audience isnt yawning its the venue there not suppose to get up it was like this with tim mcgraws concert the did there.

  • I know about the audience. My point was just that I feel a song like this is a disgrace to John Mayers talent-level, both as a songwriter but especially as a musician. I'm disappointed. He is settlin' for to little if this is the kind of music he's going to make.

  • @fredagsedb i feel your point of view i dont think its a disgrace just something new that i feel that worked out for the better. alot of fans are mad cus he went away from a blues sounding record but i prefer his pop work it sounds better to me. but not denying his blues work is good aswell.

  • Well... I'm gonna be pick a blues feel over country almost any day, so i definetely belong to that group. And if i want some background soft, him and his guitar- popwork, then i put Jack Johnson or John Mayers early work on. I don't feel as if the world needs more of that, especially not from a guy that can do much more, but i obviously makes him and a lot of people happy, so i'm just gonna have to quench my musical thirst elsewhere. :)

  • I agree with him being great live.

  • @baconman2101 And i loved the rest of the concert by the way.

  • Yes!! The Turner Model 1. I certainly do enjoy the one I own. The best guitars in the world.

  • the back up singers sometimes miss their harmonies, drives me insane.

  • I agree, they are just not good at all.Very useless

  • he is ad libbing for sure. his teleprompter shows lyrics for his song, and it runs out at like 3:50. the rest from there is freestyle

  • @Captainjustice27 its not quite freestyle. let a man be lost is an unreleased John Mayer song that he has sung on occasion before, here he adds it to the end of HOMH and i think it fits verry well.

  • do you have that song somewhere online? "let a man be lost"cant find it no where? thanks

  • lidsany buckingham uses that guitar ~!!!

  • @iplayguitar420 You're completely right! It only fits, seeing as this song seems to have a strong Fleetwood Mac influence. Nice catch.

  • i find it more dire straits influenced

  • does he really ad-lib all those little in-betweens? I've always tried to look at his teleprompter, but I can't make out the words... just curious....

  • Damn, I love this version. When the music slows down at 4:10 and when John sings 'said I don`t want to hurt no one' , love it.. Let a man be lost..

  • dang if i was there i would be up out of my seat dancing and rocking out. he is amazing.

  • what a great set he played

  • yea i hope he can perform live with taylor swift together (:

  • hpe he makes a video wit taylor swift =D

  • why doesnt he do assassin

  • cuz hes leaving this song for his tour, he posted it on twitter, i guess its his fav or something like that

  • @nyprospect988 he didn't have it down by then. if you'll notice early in the winter tour the song was shaky. he wants to give the best performance he can. i'd rather not have it then not at 100%

  • @nyprospect988 i think it's the same reason queen never did bohemian rhapsody all the way through live.

too many effects and stuff... but thats just what i think, he might have his own reasons.

  • @nyprospect988

live performance of assassin kinda blows

  • @nyprospect988 assain is one of the best songs he's ever written but its not marketable like half of my heart is. unfortunately its not a catchy pop song. i still love this song though.

  • is that linsey buckinham's guitar?

  • i wish he would just leave the back up singing to david ryan harris and bring back the horns.

  • @gyoung1234 yup... i couldn desribe what was wrong but you hit the spot.

  • @gyoung1234 racist

  • @gyoung1234 especially bring back the horns

  • @gyoung1234 Yea, there's some about back up singers that makes me think of a washed up 60 year old classic rock show.

  • John... get some better backup singers...

  • and i think hes using the same kind of guitar as linsey buckinham...........cool

  • @royxx3 lindsey buckinham made the guitar he playes

  • lindsey buckingham played a Rick Turner Model One

  • Rick Turner made the guitar Lindsey Buckinham played. It is similar to the one John is playing. Model 1 is right...

  • This is such a good tune. Fleewood Mayer for sure!

  • heh.. strange guitar and an awesome song!=D

  • thats the same guitar that lindsey buckingham from fleetwood mac plays. its expensive... :-)

  • this is really good (:
